Everyone has the ability to…

Everyone has the ability to be offended by literally everything.  Pretty soon you are only going to have team names that are numbers or letters.

Get ready to cheer on your Michigan A142-03!!!!  Gotta love those A142-03's... they play hard!

No.  We all did not…

No.  We all did not universally want RichRod.  He was the worst hire of all the post Lloyd coaches.  The UM roster and the fact his defensive coordinator did not come with him to UM was pretty much a guarantee he was going to fail.

A Lot of Milk -- Judge…

A Lot of Milk -- Judge others much?

I am not a Lou Holtz fan but every life deserves sympathy.

I am not trying to defend…

I am not trying to defend the recruiting misses we have had that along with all the other attrition has created the youth of this team.  I am only saying that I can see where Harbaugh is coming from that this team is close.

Bottom line is that youth IS the reason this team is struggling.  From a recruiting standpoint, the main area we missed and is killing us is quality CB depth.  We have recruited the OL very well but unfortunately had 2 injuries and now we are breaking in brand new players.  We have missed at the DT position but they are not terrible...  just not a strength.

I would agree that Harbaugh needs to hire more aggressive recruiter coaches but to blow up the entire staff at this point is not the right answer.

I did not watch the 2nd half…

I did not watch the 2nd half vs Indiana until tonight and went into it thinking the worst based on the final score and all the fire everyone posts.  This statement goes against most on this board BUT I actually agree with Harbaugh that they are close.

They are a very very young football team that was made even younger due to COVID and now key injuries on the OL and DL.  They were a play here and there away from being very productive both offensively and defensively in the 2nd half.

  • Freshman QB put in a position where the defense knew he had to throw the ball.  Played a solid 3rd quarter BUT missed a couple of key posts by inches because he did not put air under the ball... that will come.  He is looking more and more comfortable and made a lot of very good throws.  Don't forget that all but Bell are basically new receivers too.  Roman Wilson seems like he is going to be a gamer for a true freshman.
  • The OL is down 2 starters.  I have not researched it but I would assume we now have the youngest OL in college football.  They also seemed to play much better in the 2nd half, at least in pass protection.
  • The DL did start to bring pressure in the 2nd half and would have forced stops if our secondary would stop grabbing receivers for no reason or if they would have made a couple of tackles.  For the most part, they were in position...  now they just need to make plays.

Overall, we still have talent in a lot of areas.  In the 2nd half of this game, we just missed several key plays offensively and defensively.  We were down 10 at the start of the 4th quarter and driving when Milton made his freshman mistake.  Not seeing the defender drop back underneath that throw is an obvious freshman mistake...  unfortunately it came at the worst time.  We had gained momentum, they were playing with emotion, and just like that, gone.

I really like what I saw out of Milton in the 2nd half.  Assuming the OL and CB's can improve and settle in, this team may actually be pretty fun to watch.  On the down side...  we will be a middle school team matching up against Kansas City when we play OSU.

I agree...  Looks like Biden…

I agree...  Looks like Biden judging from the AOC 'like' on the linked twitter feed.

AND Penn St and Michigan St…

AND Penn St and Michigan St both lose!  If only Notre Dame and OSU found a way to lose this would have been a 1 in a million weekend.

Edit:  Did not see the response that is now right above me until after submitting!  Doesn't hurt to say it again and again though!

I think we need a repeat of…

I think we need a repeat of 1902...  119-0 Michigan.

What does OT mean?

What does OT mean?

You mean it would be great…

You mean it would be great if we had a leader that trusted the scientists that you and the media view to be right.  Maybe said leader actually takes a more rounded approach and also considers studies like this one that has a different approach.

I am not saying I agree with…

I am not saying I agree with this study but by using your logic, I guess all the docs including Fauci that are preaching shut downs must not know anything either.

Am I reading this correctly?…

Am I reading this correctly?  You are stating NY, NJ and MI did things the right way?

NY #1 in deaths

NJ #4 in deaths

MI #10 in deaths

I feel like I have a different opinion of success than you do.

I have seen reports that…

I have seen reports that there is some new virus in China.  Hope it doesn't come to the US.

More affectionally known as…

More affectionally known as trap games, except Rutger.  That is called a Rutger.

Yes - and why do you think…

Yes - and why do you think that is?  It's because they talked to each other and actually listened to a point of view different from their own.  Something this blog is incapable of, this place just has a bunch of haters that belittle opposing views.

I appreciate the fact that she took time to listen as much as I appreciate her service to the country... even though I approach a lot of things from the opposite side as her.

Good thing Trump and Elon…

Good thing Trump and Elon will have us living on Mars well before then!

Well there you go having to…

Well there you go having to add logic and geography into the conversation...  Maybe with all the people moving to the midwest they will turn Ohio into the garbage dump to hold all the waste.

Yes, but it is easy for OSU…

Yes, but it is easy for OSU to just pair up a covid test with their STD tests when all the students come in after a great weekend and some puss in their genital areas..

Gotta agree with Timmmaay on…

Gotta agree with Timmmaay on this one.  Testing positive means you have enough of the virus present in your system (primarily your nasal passage) to register a positive result.  Obviously you have been exposed if you test positive but you can be exposed and have negative results if you don't actually get the virus.

A positive also does not mean you are sick, symptomatic, etc, just that the virus is in your system.

100% agree!  I get so pissed…

100% agree!  I get so pissed off when I get invited to a fall wedding.  People have zero priorities anymore. Hell, my own brother got married the day we played PSU...  and he is a PSU fan.  That alone says it all about PSU.

Rumor: there is a rumor that…

Rumor: there is a rumor that it is being rumored that Michigan may or may not play if the rumor of the vote to play a rumored 8 game season are rumored to be true.

This is from a solid source...

I don't think the B1G knows…

I don't think the B1G knows what they are going to do at this point, much less anyone else.  If they are voting, and that is a huge IF, they may have given the coaches what the return plan and timetable would look like.  I am guessing that is what Day communicated to Wade and what they are basing their decision on.

Judging from the article, it…

Judging from the article, it looks like they had a timetable for a return, if they passed it, he was going to declare for the draft.

I am not from the "all…

I am not from the "all players and coaches want to play" crowd but Wade's decision does not appear to be because he had safety concerns over covid but has everything to do with preparing for the draft...

"Wade told reporters he did not regret returning for another year at Ohio State and was not planning on opting out of a fall college football season. After the Big Ten opted to postpone the season, though, Wade's father Randy said his son would not play if the season started any later than October."

I only saw the one photo of the Michigan protest, can anyone confirm how many players actually attended?  I do agree with you that if only a very small % showed up for that, it's a decent indicator of who wants to play.

Seems like a high character…

Seems like a high character guy...  any school will be lucky to get him as a transfer!

just in case: /s

I am not buddying up to…

I am not buddying up to anyone Deer Hunter.  I am assuming by his name that he has served our country.  Thanking him for his service has nothing to do with any of his views or past posts, it has to do with showing respect to a person that protected our rights by potentially risking his own life.

Why do you assume he hasn't served? Do you personally know him or are you just consumed with negativity and anger?

It's a few days late but…

It's a few days late but thank you for your service USMC.

I feel really bad for you…

I feel really bad for you Timmmaay.  The irrational need you have to display your 'genius' on a sports blog is scary.   Once again you made a judgemental comment about 'guys like me' when you have no idea who I am and what I stand for.

You belittle, attack and assume the worst because I have made it known I am conservative in my views. I hope that someday you will have the ability to self reflect and open your mind before jumping to false judgements of people based on a few sentences on a sports blog.

Sorry for the delay in my response but I was working and do not have the ability or desire to spend all day on this board attacking others for their views.

I completely agree that this…

I completely agree that this was a political play by the President.  Everything right now is a political play by Trump and by Biden.

Just for some context though...  Presidential involvement in sports has happened quite a bit over the last 100 years.  Some during WWII, some doing the cold war. I really don't find this to be that out of the ordinary from a historical viewpoint.  Everyone from both sides are just getting their butts hurt by what the candidate they don't support does.

Here is an interesting article that lists a lot of the presidential involvement in sports over the years.  Both from Republicans and Democrats.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-presidents-who-made-americas-sports?ref=scroll

And one example of Roosevelt calling on colleges to change the sport.  If this didn't happen, we might not even have football today.

President Theodore Roosevelt could very well be the most important figure in the history of American football. Roosevelt used the bully pulpit of the Oval Office in 1905 to save the game from calls for a ban on the sport that had killed 18 players in 1905 alone. Instead, T.R. called the heads of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton to Washington and told them to clean up the game.

I'll take a pass in this…

I'll take a pass on this Timmmaay.  You are one of the biggest bullies on this board, taking every opportunity to belittle people that have different views from your own.

You don't know me, you don't know my family, and you know nothing about the work I do through my church and charity to help people through some of these social issues.  You just make snap judgements of people based on a few sentences on a message board.

Has it been confirmed that…

Has it been confirmed that this was a suicide?  Both articles linked do not mention anything about cause of death?

No matter what the cause was, it is very sad and I pray for their family's loss.  I just hope this isn't jumping to a conclusion based on the above statement.

As a father of 4, I can't imagine the heartbreak of losing a child.  No one should have to go through that.

I 100% agree with you about…

I 100% agree with you about focusing on fixing 'that' issue. Yet I was crushed on another thread for calling this out.  Today's reality for the inner city poor is that they don't have access to the same quality of education that the middle class has.  They often are coming from single parent homes and only see crime and drugs outside their front door.  They see professional athletics is their only opportunity to get out and that is a 1 in a million opportunity.

Until inner cities have the same opportunity of a quality education, this is a never ending cycle.  The same argument can be made for the rural poor who are battling opioid addiction.  There are a lot of social issues that need addressed but I feel that access to education would be a solid foundation to build off of.

I guess the same group that…

I guess the same group that is referenced above as to not being able to use their brains because this country has a serious disease for the last 3 decades. What group is being referenced in that statement?  Or don't you care because it would fit your narrative?

Nothing about covid will…

Nothing about covid will change after November 3rd but the media coverage and political fighting will surely change.  The media and politicians just won't care as much because the votes will be in.

Then maybe we will start to see science based decisions vs political ones.

There have also been studies…

There have also been studies coming out that show people with higher %'s of fat are having worse responses to Covid.  Something about the virus easily attaching to fat cells so the more fat cells the more the virus seems to spread and the less your body seems to be able to fight it off.  This is regardless of whether a person has other health issues or not.

This story is a perfect example of the media's need to be first, not accurate.  Like other posts have said, the truth on this will be somewhere in the middle.  Who knows if we will ever find out.

Yes - grounded in reality…

Yes - grounded in reality because there are so many differing points of view. Discussions can be had about any topic without resorting to the hate and anger that people with differing opinions show on this board.

I am sorry it sounds horrible to you.  The kids have an incredible time and it is it is a blast.  Sitting at a table with 2 or 3 other people on Thanksgiving sounds terrible to me but that is what makes us all different I guess right?

Absolutely not.  Where in my…

Absolutely not.  Where in my comment did I say a women needs to stay married to an abusive husband?

I don't know the numbers... Are ALL divorces a result of women being married to an abusive husband?  If so, then I would agree that divorce is not the issue...  the abusive husband is.

My wife's parent's house has…

My wife's parent's house has a kitchen with 2 ovens and makes 2 huge turkey's, not sure of the weight.  How big can you get them?  They have a large dining room and living room so we put fold out tables there.  We have enough seating for all the kids to eat first.  The adults mostly just fill in or stand at the bars in the kitchen.

It is surprisingly efficient.  Her mom cooks everything else in roasters and large crock pots.  It is a very unique and fantastic time.  It really keeps everyone grounded in reality.

Or...  The majority of them…

Or...  The majority of them live in a rural area of western PA that has essentially zero cases of covid.  They are together with each other often and take precautions by social distancing / masks with everything else they do.

Just because there are 75 people it doesn't mean it's irresponsible.  There is a doctor, 2 nurses, 4 engineers, 2 tradesman and a teacher.  All taking the appropriate precautions but thank you for your internet assessment of our shitty family.

I agree with you Monocle…

I agree with you Monocle Smile, this country does have a serious disease and it's been closer to 6 decades. It's that more and more people think it's the governments job to fix everything vs taking control and start by fixing the neighborhoods they live in.  Investing in their neighbors and towns vs being only concerned about themselves.

We are talking about the same social issues today as were being talked about back in the 60's and 70's.  Every four years theses issues rise to a breaking point and then simmer down until the next election.  If there is any better argument that the government is not going to fix this 'disease', it's that they haven't done anything about it over the last 60 years.

Hell, there is a candidate running for president that has been saying he would fix this stuff for the last 50 years, and yet people believe he will all of a sudden be able to fix it in the next 4?  And no, I do not think Trump will be able to fix these issues either.

My take on it is that until people fix the following, nothing will change:

  • the breakdown of the family -- too many single parent homes, divorce, drugs, etc
  • education -- disadvantaged neighborhoods need to have access to 'better' schools

Kids are being raised in toxic environments with no vision into what life should look like.  All they know is what they see and experience which then leads them them growing up and starting the next cycle.

So long story short...  I agree there is a population of people that struggles to make good decisions for themselves.  Where I disagree is that the answer lies with our government.

Wow - this is a pretty big…

Wow - this is a pretty big leap to go from allowing people to use their brain to make some basic decisions in regards to their lives and getting rid of SS cards, marriage, driver's licenses and stealing cars.

Sorry I pissed in your Wheaties HatSparty.

Try telling that to my wife…

Try telling that to my wife's family.  She is 1 of 11 and all of them have started families of their own.  Thanksgiving is now 75 people, just with immediate family members. I am just not sure you can put a number on these things.  Everyone's situations are different.  People need to be allowed to use their brains instead of being told what to do by the gov't.

Yes - but it says they can…

Yes - but it says they can still have virtual trick or treating.  I mean, Kids would love trick or treating without the candy right?

I guess Santa won't be allowed to come to LA County either.

I 100% agree.  I started…

I 100% agree.  I started staying away from social media and TV media news well before covid hit.  My family has lived pretty much just as we would without covid while taking the appropriate precautions when we go places.

When things shut down in March, my family of 6 did a ton of things outside, biking, hiking, etc.  When things started opening, we supported the small businesses and restaurants.  They have been incredibly thankful, gave great service and have created some of the best experiences we have ever had.

My wife and I were fortunate to be able to travel to the south rim of the grand canyon in July with our 16 year old son.  It is a life changing place.

From the beginning of all of this, we decided we were not going to teach our kids to live life in fear.  We practice appropriate distancing, proper hand washing, masks and common sense. We have stayed connected to family and friends and have really made more of a focus on what matters.

hmmm...  this newly…

hmmm...  this newly published article from the AP seems to think actual obesity is an issue, not just the other issues that come with being obese.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/why-is-obesity-tied-to-severe-covid-19/ar-BB18PmRq?ocid=msedgntp

Obesity may be one reason some countries or communities have been hit hard by the virus, researchers say. In the United States, the obesity rate among adults has climbed for decades and is now at 42 percent. The rate is even higher among Black and Hispanic Americans.

The increased numbers in the US may have less to do with the response to Covid and more to do with the fact that a lot of the US lives a pretty unhealthy lifestyle.

I can think of one example…

I can think of one example that is south of Ann Arbor.  I don't want to say more in order to protect that school's privacy.

I can only speak for the…

I can only speak for the area of the county I live in but from what I see when I go out, almost every single person has a mask.  I rarely see someone without a mask.  This is happening, even though it is a very conservative area with a ton of Trump supporters.

The narrative of the majority of Americans are not wearing masks needs to stop.  People can speak up for their rights and question the guidelines...  that does not mean they are refusing to wear them.

Can anyone speak to the…

Can anyone speak to the level of competition he is playing against?  He definitely is able to run away from everyone on the field and is very fluid.  It doesn't look like he is running very hard but proceeds to run past everyone.

Is this much different than…

Is this much different than Obama giving it to Michael Jordan?  I like Mike and all but the gambling and affairs definitely would not put him on my list for this award.

So can we all agree that most are upset because of #Politics?
