We have Football!

Sir Yacht has entered the chat.

We have- The same ol’ shit
We also have- a different day
September 15th, 2020 at 2:53 PM ^
Nothing new here...
September 15th, 2020 at 2:55 PM ^
I can't wait until they announce a November or January start. The reaction will be something. Making some popcorn now...
September 15th, 2020 at 3:09 PM ^
At least it’ll be fucking done once it’s announced. This is reminiscent of the 2011 coaching search.
September 15th, 2020 at 3:25 PM ^
Just like it was done when they announced that the Fall season was postponed...
September 15th, 2020 at 3:27 PM ^
Is this sarcasm?? There have been announcements for a ten game season, postponement, and now potentially reinstatement. In all likelihood there would still be a whole month between the announcement and the first game played. Absolutely nothing will be done
September 15th, 2020 at 3:34 PM ^
Just start after October 17th god damn it, I'm getting married that day.
September 15th, 2020 at 3:37 PM ^
You scheduled your wedding for a Saturday in the fall? You're starting things off on the wrong foot, my friend.
September 15th, 2020 at 4:21 PM ^
100% agree! I get so pissed off when I get invited to a fall wedding. People have zero priorities anymore. Hell, my own brother got married the day we played PSU... and he is a PSU fan. That alone says it all about PSU.
September 15th, 2020 at 4:39 PM ^
So do I. A guy who once claimed to be "the biggest Michigan fan ever" scheduled his wedding for the day of the UofM vs MSU game back in 2007 the one with the late Manningham TD to win in East Lansing. I skipped the wedding and showed up to the reception.
September 15th, 2020 at 5:26 PM ^
Haha! Well done sir.
I once went to a wedding in Houston, which fell on the Michigan v Notre Dame game. The groom and I actually hung out in the hotel lobby every 30 minutes or so during the reception to watch the game. A number of years later his wife divorced him. I foretold that ending after spending time with him as he skipped out of his wedding reception to watch football and flirt with the hotel receptionist.
September 15th, 2020 at 4:24 PM ^
Fall is both our favorite seasons and so that's what we wanted. We hope to have it outside. I at least scheduled it for an away game on purpose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I might get the best of both worlds now and not have to miss any!
September 15th, 2020 at 4:33 PM ^
We got married in the fall too, but I had the good sense to do it on a Friday.
Which actually saved us a bunch of money.
September 15th, 2020 at 5:03 PM ^
Please tell us it was at least originally scheduled as a bye week. (For my own sake I haven't looked.)
September 15th, 2020 at 3:53 PM ^
Congratulations on your nuptials! Happy wife happy life!
September 15th, 2020 at 3:58 PM ^
One of my clearest memories of my father growing up was his severe dislike for weddings on football Saturdays, the first weekend of rifle season, and the trout opener in the Spring.
September 15th, 2020 at 3:59 PM ^
No self respecting man gets married in the fall. You're own fault
September 15th, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
I will never forget a wedding I was at in Detroit during the 1991 MSU v Mich game ( the one Howard was tackled on the point conversion). Not a single person wanted to be in that church. Even though its a fall day its not a stupid date like that was. Really during the state game in Detroit - WTF
September 15th, 2020 at 4:21 PM ^
It was the 1990 season, that non call was some major BS.
September 15th, 2020 at 5:56 PM ^
I was at wedding during The Horror. For a buddy that went to Michigan so half the guests were M alums pretty much. And the 4th quarter / blocked kicked happened during the vows.
Basically turned a wedding into a funeral real quick.
September 15th, 2020 at 4:43 PM ^
Got hitched Oct 19th 1974 Saturday watched the Michigan Wisconsin game. Got so lost in the tight game that when Mich won 24-20. I sat on the couch and remembered ...I gotta get ready! Im getting married!!! crazy I was so lost in that game almost forgot about my bride!
September 15th, 2020 at 2:54 PM ^
WTF is this sentence from the article: "According to Jeff Potrykus from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, while the announcement timing hasn’t been, that the Big Ten is returning has been confirmed, with it being an eight-game schedule to be played in a nine-week timeframe."?
September 15th, 2020 at 3:00 PM ^
It's bad.
Should read something like: "While the announcement hasn't occurred yet, the BigTen season returning has been confirmed, with an 8 game schedule to be played over 9 weeks."
It shouldn't read anything because it all seems to be a pile of speculative bullshit at this juncture.
September 15th, 2020 at 3:19 PM ^
Its all based off the Nebraska president leaking the news earlier today that the Big Ten is set to announce a return to play. The news that's being reported now that's being sourced in the Wolverines Wire story is all based off this tweet:
Nebraska president Ted Carter leaked news earlier that the B1G is set to announce it's 2020 football plan today. This is confirmed. Polls are closed. Votes are in. Time for #Badgers fans and their pals across the league to celebrate.

Should I stop pleasuring myself then?
September 15th, 2020 at 3:36 PM ^
No. Then the terrorists win.
September 15th, 2020 at 4:45 PM ^
Most ridiculous question ever. Never.

Modern newspapers: "wE dOn'T NeEd eDItOrS"
September 15th, 2020 at 3:53 PM ^
It would not surprise me at all if this were on purpose, and engagement is way higher when they can have people sharing something that still gets the general point across and still allows them to say "look at this trash".
September 15th, 2020 at 4:03 PM ^
Unfortunately you are correct. Why pay someone $60,000/year+benefits when they have no positive effect on your top line? I blame the consumer. There used to be standards for this sort of thing.
September 15th, 2020 at 5:13 PM ^
Sadly true. Just had a debate with someone online about why spending money for a highend video treatment was a waste of time and money when you can just post a quick highlight or meme from the game.
While theres definitely a market for good high end content, the market at large wants quick, dumb, and funny.
Content has largely adopted the fast food market -- everything is quick, of moderate to poor quality, and cheap.
September 15th, 2020 at 2:54 PM ^
8 game schedule over a 9 week period. I assume a 9th game for the conference championship. Start date of October 17th puts us in a mid December end date. Should be enough for CFP.
September 15th, 2020 at 2:58 PM ^
FIFY
"Should be enough for Ohio State to make the CFP."
September 15th, 2020 at 2:58 PM ^
Allegedly.
At least according to "Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writer says Big Ten return 'is confirmed'
I dont want to be a debbie downer here kids but there's really nothing new to see here. One person at the journalistic bastion known as the Milwaukee Sentinel thinks so but that's a LONG way from an official announcement from the conference.
I mean you'd need a yacht to sail a distance that far.
September 15th, 2020 at 3:24 PM ^
Yachting distance is nearly there.
September 15th, 2020 at 3:40 PM ^
You want distance? How about:
Tranquility base here, the Eagle has landed...
But then we all know that was done on a sound stage in California somewhere.
September 15th, 2020 at 3:53 PM ^
fools! The sound stage was in Arizona...
September 15th, 2020 at 2:59 PM ^
some crappy website says some random reporter says B1G football is back on...

we have allegedly, potentially football games scheduled. Just remember there is going to be a fall wave. So even if they do actually announce a schedule, don't be crushed if they cancel it again.
But yea, it's something to hope for
load the Lucy football meme
September 15th, 2020 at 3:27 PM ^
What fall wave? We're still on the first wave since March
September 15th, 2020 at 3:35 PM ^
We still haven't flattened the curve?
September 15th, 2020 at 3:41 PM ^
The earth is flat?
September 15th, 2020 at 3:57 PM ^
I'm fascinated by flat earthers. I've decided not to stop at flatness. Seems like a half truth. Why isn't earth a line? And for that matter, what about a one dimensional dot. Think about it. From far enough away, every thing is a dot. What more proof do we need.
I'd post more, but i have to cash my flat earth check and repair some damage to the ice wall on the edges of the land masses.
September 15th, 2020 at 4:32 PM ^
Should check out the podcast Timesuck with Dan Cummins. Great standup comedian, and his podcast is basically a dee dive into various interesting topics, such as flat earthers and how/why they believe such things.
September 15th, 2020 at 4:33 PM ^
checking it out now!

Do flat earth checks bounce?
