I was at the Rose Bowl on Jan 1 1998 to witness our last national championship. Recall having to scrape together the money to afford to go, after convincing the wife it may be a once in a lifetime experience, and it was worth every penny. I still have vivid memories of that whole day that will stay with me forever, as well as some photos of my friends and I celebrating in the stands and after the game that are priceless. If you are in the position that I was in back in 1997-1998, I would strongly suggest that you find a way to attend. Life is about experiences.
We have one of the best defenses in the country. Moore knows that, and trusted them to close out the game. Kicking the FG to force OSU to drive the length of the field for a TD with 1 minute on the clock was absolutely the right call in that situation.
Check out the Fish Market on Sunday mornings (opens @ 7am) for a mix of Saturday nights revelers, live bands, great food and beers from around the region. It is a scene.
For a great traditional German meal, go to Broderson's
For great cocktails, try the TurmBar which is located in a renovated military bunker. Walking distance from Broderson's.
Bought 4 together @ $725 ea in Section 138 last Tuesday on TicketiQ for the MGoWife, MGoBro and MGoSisinLaw and am pleased with the deal. Airfare from CLT and hotel were pricey as well, but no regerts.
This is the cost of having an elite team in semi-final playoff games!
Also had a connection with a guy that worked the basement of the Blue Front. They stored all the kegs down there and had a conveyor belt to bring them up to street level on the side of the store where they would be loaded into the back of the BF logo'd van (wish I had a picture of that thing), and he would then deliver them to fraternity parties. There was little to no inventory control, so a free keg may or may not have ended up in our apartment from time to time. Good times.
Should have added more context on cost. Group of 8 purchased a weekend package for two nights in a lodge @ Pine Needles and three rounds of golf ... 2 @ Pine Needles and 1 @ Mid Pines for $429 ... in Nov and the weather was perfect.
Have played some of the biggies ... Sawgrass, Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, Pinehurst 2 & 4 and they were all great, but my personal favorites are MidPines and Pine Needles in the town of Pinehurst. Great layouts and greens. Like walking back in time. If you ever get to Pinehurst, play them for around $100 instead of the resort courses.
He is enjoying every minute of his senior season and we are fortunate to have him. He has a bright future in the NBA as every team needs a few selfless players like him to do the dirty work.
Perhaps the Crystal Balls are what need to be removed from the equation. You have 11 "experts" that got it wrong because they listened to the chatter from and around the entitled 5-star kid that was looking for as much attention as possible.
Bajema has earned the right to get some significant minutes by the fact that he has performed well in limited duty. I would like to see what he could do with 5-6 key minutes on both ends. Not knocking Nunez - he seems to be a good teammate and may hit 'em in practice, but it has not translated to games and he is still a work in progress on defense. With the returning guys plus all the athletic talent coming in next Fall, a knock down shooter on the wing needs to be developed.
This was the first game of my Freshman year. That defense, and especially the D line with Messner and Hammerstein, was dominant. Jamie Morris was Mike Hart before Mike Hart. Our QB was pretty good also. Ahhh, the memories.
Take white cotton tee shirt. Cut off short sleeves carefully at the seams. Write HAIL on them with a Sharpie. Put one on your head. Boom. You also have a sweet wife beater left over.
Baseball is a team game. At some point before this ride is over, somebody outside of the three guys was likely going to have to deliver something to help the team win it all. With every passing inning, the pressure gets ratcheted up.The lowest leverage situation remaining in the season is the first few innings in game 2, so it seems like the right time to get that fourth and/or fifth guys a chance to deliver.
Can we please trust the coach? He has brought the team this far and has certainly pushed the right buttons along the way. I hope Paige delivers 3-5 solid innings and puts the team in a position to win.
Last night I noticed a perfect example that is worth pointing out. In the first inning, Jordan Brewer was on second base and Blake Nelson singled sharply to left field. In most cases, this type of play requires the third base coach to make a split second decision whether to send or stop the runner based upon a lot of factors such as ... How deep was the outfielder playing? How strong is his arm? How hard was the ball hit? Was it hit directly at him? How fast is the baserunner? Did he get a good jump? How many outs are there? Who is on deck? As Brewer headed for third base, there was absolutely zero reaction by our third base coach and Brewer never even looked at him (as far as I could tell), yet Brewer rounded third and never hesitated as he headed to home plate to score. My point is that 99% of the time in baseball, the runner is dependent upon the coach to signal him what to do in that situation and it sometimes leads to hesitancy on the bases and missed opportunities. Bakich has the team thinking two bases on every hit, so the athleticism can take over and that applies a ton of pressure on the defense. All the third base coach has to do is signal when to stop. This philosophy meshes perfectly with the speedy lineup that Bakich has built. It is a joy to watch.
How about we give Juwan a chance? The timing of JB's departure was awful and under the circumstances, Warde did a very good job finding a solid candidate with Midwest roots (recruiting), playing experience (can relate to current players and recruits that aspire to be NBA players), years of bench coaching experience in the highest caliber league in the world ... and happens to also be a Michigan alum with a undeniable track record of character and integrity Sounds like we could have done a hell of a lot worse to me. I think JH will do well here as long as we give him a fair shot (3+ years). Great job by Warde and Go Blue!

Do not want.

M should fine them for the distraction
Will be there along with 11 others (6 from NC + 6 from MI).
Gonna be epic when we curb stomp them in front of their fans.
