Love Dave Chappelle!!! Even though he lives in Ohio.

Speaking of comedians I love. Did anyone see the opening monologue of the Golden Globes by Ricky Gervais? Savage!

Here's a "cool story bro" for the board:

Dave resides in Yellow Springs, OH which is near to Dayton and Beavercreek, also where Wright State University is located, which is where I went to school.

Anyway - I was at the local LA Fitness working out and Dave was there, headphones on, dribbling a basketball around. We were all used to him being around and generally gave him his space, but this one guy walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder and asked what he was listening to. Dave slid his headphone to the side and yells "MIXTAPES" in the most Dave Chappelle voice I've ever heard in my life, and just goes back to what he was doing without another word.

My interactions with him have always shown him to be a kind, thoughtful, caring person who cares about his community and values his privacy. Will always support his work! Thanks for sharing the link OP!

I was there, it was great. Brennan had the best speech of the night but there was a lot of stuff said I can't imagine PBS is going to put on TV. I don't agree with everything the man says but the impact he has had on people in so many different fields was pretty incredible to witness.

I have a minor quibble.  If you are referring exclusively to his comedy, then there is nothing to agree or disagree with.  Comedy is an art form in that if you are looking for something to agree with, then you're doing wrong.  This is why nowadays he gets so much flack.

Disclaimer: former comedian here (who started my comedy with Brian Cook, the very creator of this blog).

Chappelle is a national treasure.  I waited a while before I watched his latest special because I was worried that "they" might have gotten to him given the current political and social climate.

Nope.  He was in top form.  One of the greats.

It's just too bad that the laugh police and internet outrage squad get so much attention on social media.  No way in hell would I want to be a comedian today.

I've heard multiple stories about people running into Dave, who lives near Dayton. And all of them involve him being a really friendly, down-to-earth guy. He also hosted a benefit concert for Dayton after this summer's shooting.

Haha...no, Dane Cook.  Of course Pryor is/was gold.

I'm not even going to be "Dane Cook sucks" guy because I don't truly believe that, his stuff was decent and good for the time and demographic he performed for.  Hell he was even decent in "Employee of the Month" and "Waiting".  It was not the name and end of your statement I expected, however.
