Frozen Four Roll Call & Pre-Game Activities
I'm currently at 36,000 feet on my way to St. Paul. Who else is heading to the game today?
I kept my eye on Stubhub ticket prices since win over MSU, the prices dropped every day as the amount of listings rose for several days. I assume most of that was a result of Minnesota fans that decided not to root on their fellow BigTen school. I waited until this morning to finally buy my ticket, $75 before fees for a great seat around the "20 yardline".
Anyone else still waiting to buy their ticket last minute?
I haven't seen any posts/chatter about pre-game festivities. I don't know anything about the area around the arena. Anyone have any plans for a few beers prior to the game?
I was in Minny in 2011 and there was all kind of stuff going on outside the arena. This place has great old school Italian. https://www.degidios.com/
great rec, thank you. might have to belly up to the bar for a chicken parmesan before the game.
go blue.
edited: here now for lunch and beers. got the bartender to put on the master's with sound. Think I'll stay here until game time.
If you're into craft beer, you'll have a great time, a ton of great breweries in the area.
We went to Surly after the Michigan/Minnesota football game last fall, great spot.
Surly is great.... Fulton was another favorite.
Barrel Theory is <1 mile from the Xcel Center and one, if not the best, breweries in town. Usually have a food truck posted up on the weekends too. Another classic / old school Italian place near Xcel is Cossetas. If you want to fancy, Meritage is great. If you are bringing kids and staying tomorrow/ Saturday, the Science Museum is a good bet.
Supposed to be a beautiful weekend weather wise and lots of other places to go see if willing to drive a bit (e.g., Stone Arch Bridge, Walker Sculpture Garden, Mpls lakes, NE Mpls breweries)
I love how someone always emerges with the proper name to answer any kind of question posted here.
I haven't been to the science museum in 22 years.
Almost exactly. I went there on the day off at the 2002 FF.
There's a pep rally for UM at 3:30 or 3:45 at Rivercenter (right next door to the X), when the players arrive at the arena. They didn't seem to advertise it much, just a post on their socials.
I went to Tampa last year. In Tampa, what appeared to be the standing watch party bar for local alums was walking distance from the arena and hosted a big pre game party including an appearance by the MMB.
Nice job on the tix, we payed something like $800 for three seats. Enjoy, we had a great time despite the result, hopefully you’ll do better!!
Go Blue!
I'll be there. I'm quite tall and I'll be wearing a dazzle maize Tim Cook jersey from 2004. Section 211 nominally, might be around a bit as I already have a couple people to say "hi" to. More are always welcome.
Thankful I get to go. God is good. Go Blue.
I’m not in MSP - instead will be the lone person cheering on our Wolverines while Mrs Amazinblu (a BC alum) and about nine of her closest BC alums - who are in town for a Girls weekend / reunion - will be frantic about the Eagles.
Since our children are Michigan students - I told my wife - "Go ahead, cheer against your kids..."
The bar is stocked we’ll have pizzas and salad to feast on before the puck drops.
Go Blue!
Made it to my Air BNB 7 minutes by Uber.
Which hotel is team at?
I live in Minneapolis (unfortunately not attending the games!) St. Paul is a blast. Close to Xcel, Cosetta is great for some pizza and Parlour is great for a burger. The History Center is a really fun place to nerd out, depending on what you are in the mood for!
