The Wings play the Washington Caps, puck drop on ESPN-normal in 10 minutes. Wings are in the last wild-card spot with 84 pts and have 5 games left, including today.

wings have 24 shots on net and nothing to show for it, 12:40 left in the 2nd
and the caps score. they haven't had offensive pressure for 36 minutes, gets 2 minutes of it and scores. 1-0 caps, 2:12 left in the 2nd
Well that sucked.
Red Wings couldn't get the puck cleared plus had a player without a stick for about a minute.
End result: down 1-0.

I tune in for first wings game all year and no more than 20 seconds later Caps score. 2 min after that another.

It's the inverse of the Sabres game. Got outplayed but not outscored for much of the Sabres game. This time they got goalied despite playing well.

Goalie stealing a game the Wings have largely controlled. Sucks, but that is a part of hockey as the glory years Red Wings teams that lost in the playoffs because of that can attest to. Though hot goalie or not got to find a way to get something past him.
Giguerre, Kiprussoff, Roloson especially come to mind in the early 2000s.

like most of us, the fact that our hoops program had to walk the plank in exchange for a national championship in football is a trade i'd make all day, every day, and twice on sunday.
The fact that the Wings are in the playoff race is great, it just sucks that they haven’t been playing well to get in.
Kind of like last year when they were in the hunt but got beat badly by the Sens and all hell broke loose after those games. This year the advertising patch comes on and all hell broke loose.
