Just checked the schedule…

Just checked the schedule and they added Megatron too!

You may be able to get away…

You may be able to get away with bringing a football if you have it fully deflated (like pancake flat). They let us bring one into NRG in Houston in January, but we had to deflate it at the security checkpoint. They just don't want stuff that can be thrown around. And of course, they sold fully inflated footballs inside that stadium too, so that rule was pretty pointless.

Draft Kings still has him …

Draft Kings still has him -250 Chargers, +175 Not Coaching NFL. I think I just switched to being a BetMGM user.

Agreed. Not-so-hot-take: Vegas is more reliable than most journalists these days.

I ordered mine from the…

I ordered mine from the Daily too. I was concerned that it might come with a crease but I’d like to frame it myself for one reason. I have some confetti from the game and I’m going to put that between the matting and the glass—figured that would be a cool way to display it.

Add a clause that makes him…

Add a clause that makes him volunteer to be completely inaccessible until all NFL job vacancies are filled this year. No more screen time or devices. Change the wifi password at the office. Stamp Return to Sender on all his mail. Confiscate all tin cans & string, walkie talkies, CB radios, and Ouiji boards. Remove any lattice on the side of his house where would-be suitors could climb to get to his window in a big dramatic gesture.

Most meaningful bit of data?…

Most meaningful bit of data? 2 years ago we played at Maryland the week before OSU, were favored by 16 and won by 41, then went on the next week to win the game that still serves as my computer wallpaper. Let's just go ahead and do that again.

Michigan's currently -19, so I feel good about history repeating itself.

Love that idea—and fans…

Love that idea—and fans would take note. Even just remove the word proud. “We are [pause] members of the Big Ten Conference.” Even as-is I plan to boo that line in 2 weeks when it plays.

It's more nuanced than this…

It's more nuanced than this and I'm sure this is biased, but you could use these bullet points:

  • Sign "Stealing" is not theft, is not against the rules, and is considered part of gamesmanship by most coaches. If you can crack their code before they crack yours, you get a slight edge. The Michigan "scandal" isn't about sign-stealing.
  • Connor Stalions, a young junior analyst, was Michigan's guy in charge of cracking that code and was pretty good at it. The allegations are that he sent non-employees to Michigan's future opponents' games to record those teams' signals on cell phone and share that video with him to study. The important point here is that the people were not Michigan employees. NCAA rules prohibit coaching staff from attending those games to scout. Did he find a loophole or break the rules? That's the grey area debate.
  • Michigan suspended Connor Stalions while the NCAA investigates. He then resigned without admitting any guilt/fault, but making it clear that the other coaching staff didn't know what he was doing or instruct him to do it.
  • Big Ten coaches got fired up about this since NCAA investigations aren't quick (Michigan still has one in progress for recruiting violations during the COVID season) and demanded that the head of the Big Ten Conference step in and take action instead of waiting for the NCAA.
  • The new head of the conference is Tony Petitti, an ex-exec with MLB and CBS. He was hired at a time when the conference's greatest need was someone to negotiate a big TV deal (and he did). His critics believe he's let himself get pushed around by the football coaches, rather than leading them.
  • Petitti sent a punishment to Michigan, suspending Harbaugh from coaching their 3 final (and biggest) games of the regular season. Petitti sent this at the close of business on a Friday, which just so happened to be a federal holiday so courts were already closed--hoping that Michigan would be unable to take legal action to stop this punishment. Michigan was already en route to PA for the next day's Noon game.

Scandal-adjacent:

  • Who turned Stalions in to the NCAA? It was a Private Investigation firm. Many speculate they were hired by someone affiliated with Ohio State, possibly a member of their coaching staff, but that is yet to be proven.
  • The PI firm's discovery was leveraged as a PR campaign vilifying Michigan. By submitting to the NCAA first, Michigan was under a gag order and couldn't defend themselves. Then elements of the story continued to leak daily to dominate the media cycle.
  • During this time evidence has surfaced of other Big Ten teams who have colluded in sign stealing against Michigan, which is another grey area strikingly similar to Stalions'--using in-game research from other schools' coaching staffs without sending your own coaching staff. But the Big Ten only seems interested in pursuing punishment for Michigan and ignoring other schools' infractions.
It's an event before a…

It's an event before a football game--there should definitely be more football players interacting with the kids. Other suggestions:

1. Switch to 11-2 instead of 12-3 and allow an hour for people to get to the game.

2. Have a time just for kids to get pictures and autographs from 11-12 with the football team. Give adult collectors their own time too, but make sure the kids are served first.

3. Give/sell an item to get autographed like a poster or pennant or something. Most kids showed up with footballs, but nothing for wrestlers/hockey players.

4. Price point was fine ($30 per adult, kids free)--just make sure that the families get their money's worth.

5. Use the space more efficiently. Have teams set up in stations throughout the concourse and wrap the line through there on the way to the main floor, where the football and basketball teams are available. Then use line dividers on on the floor. Lots of families patiently waited, only to have people crowd in at the front and cut off the kids - not cool.

6. When the whole team was there, a few of the guys were great about standing at the edges and signing stuff, but the majority of the players stood by themselves in the middle. The kids don't care if you're a starter or if you never see the field--sign stuff for them and put your number on it so they can look you up later. They'll cheer for you every chance they get after that.

7. Keep the inflatables--kids seemed to really enjoy that.

8. Good job with staffing. Plenty of friendly, helpful people there.

Looking to buy 2 tickets to the championship game in LA for my son & I. I didn't have enough priority points to get them through the ticket office, but would love to sit by Michigan fans if possible. If you were selected & can't use yours we're open to any seating level.

Thanks! That's great to hear! I'll do that now. Not an alum (just lifelong fan), so I can't post there, but I'll definitely post on the fan-to-fan.

I'm at 111 points so I'm guessing my request won't be filled this time based on what other people have posted. If anyone is unable to use theirs and wants to sell to a Michigan fan, I've got flights and hotels booked, just looking to get tickets for my son & I without getting gouged too much on price.

I live in the Chicago area and travel to Ann Arbor often so if you live anywhere in the I-94 stretch in between I can meet you up to pay cash & transfer tickets in person.

Apparently posters are still…

Apparently posters are still a big thing. My 9-year-old son asked Santa for a JJ poster, because, you know, the elves can make it if it doesn't exist. I wouldn't be surprised if Santa goes a similar route to the vista print option mentioned previously.

Will always cheer for you…

Will always cheer for you and your success! Can't thank you enough for all you've done for the program!

With this revised schedule,…

With this revised schedule, what could this mean for the yet-to-be-rescheduled MSU game? Any of you schedule analysts out there have any predictions of where that could fall now? As someone from out of state who had tickets for the MSU game, I'm hoping to get back for the rescheduled game.

I checked the tickets…

I checked the tickets section of my Michigan Athletics app and the MSU game I had purchased was now listed as April 1. Did anyone else’s do that? Do they just do that as a placeholder until they set the date for rescheduled games?

Brilliant. So well played on the OSU recap.

Watching that highlight reel…

Watching that highlight reel, the blue team reminds me of the Washington Generals. You kind of forget how ridiculously good NBA players are when they're up against each other, but turn down the competition just a little bit and guys like Poole just look phenomenal! Glad to see him doing so well!

When you do the handoff in…

When you do the handoff in Chicago, if you could use a break before turning around & driving back, some of us around here might be able to meet you & pick up our copies.

Happy to save you an envelope & postage and get our books a little early at the same time!

Never had a convertible, but…

Never had a convertible, but drove a Camaro with the T-top in college & this thread induced nostalgia, for sure. The glass pieces took up your entire trunk when you had them off, but any day it was remotely nice out, they were off. Such a great body style. RIP, T-tops.

Located in IL and love…

Located in IL and love Bourbon, though I haven’t ventured too much into the hard-to-find stuff here. Usually Woodford, Bulleit, and Makers Mark are in my stash (all $30-$35 around here). I tend to have something slightly cheaper for glass #2 like Four Roses or Buffalo Trace (around $22-$25). I’ve been trying some others brands lately and have really liked Woodinville. Has anyone else tried that? I’ve been really impressed and it’s no more expensive than my other first-rounders (again, at least here in IL).

I agree. Interesting…

I agree. Interesting decision to launch as football fatigue (if such a thing truly exists) is setting in and basketball is scratching the competitive itch. Whereas in the summer, I'm so hungry for football I'd watch whatever they put on my TV...can't imagine I'm alone in that.

That said, I'm sure I'll watch lots of XFL games anyway.

I loved the fan punt reception challenge. The student section seemed pretty into it from where I was sitting too. My kids were with me and we all enjoy interacting with the crowd on something live like that than something prerecorded on the screen.

Waiting on mine too (in IL) but as long as I get it before the season starts I’m good. I got the link to the digital version but I’ve been waiting for the print edition. HTTV is so good each year I just want to get a physical copy in hand and just be completely unproductive until I’ve read it cover to cover.

Children's Museum

The marching band for sure. The Ann Arbor Hands On Museum is fantastic too. My kids love that when we're in town for games.
