OT-Michigan Xmas Gifts - Football Posters

Submitted by swdude12 on December 14th, 2022 at 9:56 AM

My son is asking for Michigan Football Posters for xmas and honestly I am having a tough time finding any.  He specifically asked for a Blake Corum poster.  Are posters a thing of the past?  I remember having a ton of posters on my bedroom walls growing up.  Any insight would be great thanks!

Also a good discussion on any Michigan related xmas presents.

I don't know how reputable these stores are, but it seems like you can find some online:

Some Michigan fatheads here (I see Hutch and Peppers, but no Corum).

This site seems to have some Blake posters.

Having a Corum fathead as a kid would be pretty cool. It would be great if there was a site where the players would get a cut of the money too.

Step 1 - go to vistaprint.com (or other photo/poster printing company)

Step 2 - upload photo of Corum, the Big House, us beating OSU, etc.

Step 3 - pay them

Step 4 - receive poster in the mail

Step 5 - profit (in child's level of love and respect for you because of the awesome posters)

Step 6 - tell him to thank DrJAWS

(I will add that in some ways this, ironically, marked the end of the most enjoyable part of the Michigan-Slippery Rock romance. Seeing them in person was ... underwhelming, and the game itself was -- for those of us used to Michigan and Big Ten football -- poor, uninteresting, and badly-played. Nice kids, I'm sure, but ...)

Yep, started in 1959.  My mother was at that game when the Slippery Rock score was first announced.  And yes, 1979 was a bit anticlimactic. We cheered for Slippery Rock, but were disappointed...big time.

More on the game and what led up to it:

Apparently posters are still a big thing. My 9-year-old son asked Santa for a JJ poster, because, you know, the elves can make it if it doesn't exist. I wouldn't be surprised if Santa goes a similar route to the vista print option mentioned previously.

I'm sure a poster of Brian would make your son's Christmas very special. My MGoWife has been pressing me to get one for her. Of course, she wants the OMG shirtless variety to put on our bedroom ceiling.

gosh I had so many posters in my room growing up, and that wasn’t too long ago at all. My poor parents had literally thousands of thumbtack holes to cover up and sand down when they remodeled my room into a guest room. Surprised they didn’t just tear down the drywall and start over.

I have a really cool print from a guy who used to post "Guess the score, win a print" contests on The Fort (circa Rivals era). And a Mc name I think. McHenryArt or something. Anyone remember?
