What a colossal choke job against Vanderbilt
They gave up a 9-0 run with barely more than a minute left. Turnovers, fouls, bad defense, horrid inbounds passing, and just plain not handling the pressure. This is how they lost 16 games this year...
Good effort with Jett and Kobe, but good god what way to choke away a game that was won. JFC.
Tbf, the single ball-handler they had available was a short true-freshman. Vandy shoulda done this all game M didn't have the personnel.
Raised in the church and never interpreted this that way, hilarious - bravo
96.7 winning percentage with 1:34 to go. Pathetic.
Great stat! Sounds about right.
Yep, 8 point lead and the ball.
That is our opponents win percentage against us, right?
If they had coach specific stats for that situation, I'm sure it would be much less for Howard.
I'm SHOCKED, absolutely SHOCKED that they melted down at the end of a must-win game. WHO could've seen this coming???
Last game I really watched the end of was Iowa. So you can blame me, and I will take one for the team next season.
Consistent for sure. Poor coaching to end games has been the one thing we could count on this season.
Absolutely embarrassing and fitting end to the season lmao
What a bad take. Stackhouse took advantage of Michigan's dearth of guards at the end. What else could Michigan have done?
Please be a joke.
NOT asked T-Will to be a primary ball handler against the press, for 1.
TWill was not the primary ball handler at any point there, so what we saw was your coaching result.
Dribble and pass for starters…and he’s part of the reason we only have 3-4 guards on the roster
They could have subbed me in off the fucking couch and I would have done better. That was a middle school, first time being pressed, meltdown.
Let Baker take it up the floor? Maybe Jace? You're 100% correct, double Dug and it's easy profit.
Can't wait for the bad luck crew to explain this one away too
It was a shitty end but not having your starting SG for a road game was certainly not optimal.
They lost because they played poorly down the stretch and that's on the players and coaches, but asking your bad PF to handle the ball because you have 1.5 guards capable of playing today is a bit of bad luck as well.
This team is bad and also couldn't catch a break all year. Both of those can be true.
"Down the stretch?" They played poorly for about 80 seconds, the rest of the game was fine actually. Terrance Williams should not have been in there in the first place, and it's coaching malpractice to leave him in there and keep letting him inbound the ball when the guy was clearly choking. You have been part of the iT'S jUsT bAd LuCk crew the whole season. You were clearly wrong.
TWill shouldn't have been in there, but Khayat, Jace, and Reed shouldn't have been in there either. So ???
Jace or Khayat could have been in there. I would have taken Tschetter or even Reed to inbound the ball at that point honestly. Another fault against Howard is he never tried to change up the inbound play. Never looked up court or had guys besides Dug and Hunter look for the ball.
Ah yes, I'm sure if Jace or Khayat had inbounded the ball (plays I'm sure they had practiced numerous times despite both those guys rarely seeing the court all year) it would have all worked out.
Dug is the PG, Hunter your best player and Williams was an upperclassmen who's a decent FT shooter. They didn't have a ton of options and on one of those plays Williams beat the press and then turned it over, the next Dug again beat the press but airmailed it to Williams, and the third Williams nerfed a ball to him because he was seemingly fouled. So in 2 of those cases the "inbound play" worked fine and the third he was fouled.
You're allowed to be mad and loud but save me this hindsight bullshit especially when the point you're making isn't even factually correct. Maybe stick to generalizations about how this team didn't have that dawg in them so it doesn't show how little you were paying attention.

Williams didn’t beat the press, wtf were you watching? He took a pass from Dickinson, then proceeded to dribble a few times like Shaq running point. The second one was mostly on McDaniel I’ll grant you, but the third turnovers was all Williams. He passes to Dickinson, then squares up looking straight at him, and just as Dickinson passes he turns away. Elementary school kids know not to take your eye off the ball in that situation. The guy was frazzled and didn’t belong out there. Yeah, I would have 100% put Jace or Tschetter in for an inbound play that clearly wasn’t even scripted. Shit I would have taken a guy off the street. When one of your players is choking hard you have to recognize it and not put him in a position to fail again.
Maybe stick to your shitty football diaries that no one reads.
I was actually very pleased with the team's general performance in a game in which they fell behind by double digits and came back to lead at the half and T Will was a big reason for the turnaround with his offensive rebounding effort.
Then in the second half, Michigan found some rhythm feeding the ball repeatedly to Hunter as Dug chipped in before two big defense took over and the offense began to sputter while basically halting any rhythm Vandy had with a zone that shutdown driving lanes. With less than 3 minutes left, Michigan was in great shape to win before self-destructing.
In the absence of two of the team's primary scorers, Michigan put together a fine offensive effort with more second chance points than usual. The problem is nobody was ever established in the course of the season as a reliable bench scorer. Baker tried to assume that role but was totally inconsistent as a shooter or defender.
In the end, the team found its level of mediocrity and succumbed to it.
Kudos to you Bronxblue. You are like clockwork after every blown loss to somehow think it’s “luck” and “coincidence” they keep doing this and in no way does it totally reflect on Juwan. It’s honestly impressive at this point.
I mean, the part where I said "they played poorly and that's on the players and coaches" certainly didn't include Juwan or anyone else with the staff, so thanks for flagging that.
Just think - you don't have to worry about basketball anymore this year. I did notice you didn't post anything after they beat Toledo or Wisconsin but like clockwork were there to complain after Rutgers, Illinois, IU and Vandy. Must just be a coincidence and definitely not a sign of someone who could just stop watching a team that clearly bothered him.
How about recruit some more guards instead of a bunch of 3/4 tweeners and you could actually win these type of games. That is fully on Juwan
The transfer PG got hurt, Bufkin didn't play, Jett didn't play. So that's why Juwan didn't have 3 point guards playing today.
A transfer combo guard (who mostly played SG before transferring), a 2, and a 2-3 not playing is why Juwan didn't have 1's playing today?
They have 1.5 guards and zero D1 4's on the team. That was most of the season.
Today was more like 0.5 guards.
Both are a failure in recruiting by the coaching staff.
4-13 now in games decided by 6 or less or in overtime. And three of those wins were EMU, Ohio U, and Minnesota (with Dickinson’s prayer against Wisconsin being the 4th). I’m sure we just need a bigger sample size.
MSU at home and at Rutgers do not get counted with that stat. Both were tied with u der 2 minutes left and UM pulled away. Still not good, but a more honest cOmment.
so they had won 2 of their last 4 of those games and one of those losses included a 7 point comeback in the final 2 minutes to put the game into OT (Illinois).
Fair, but if you want to count those two wins, I think you should also toss out the three 5ish point wins against sub-200 teams that you should never be close with in the first place. So let’s call it 3-12 against similar teams in close games.
Fire Howard. Today. Fuck that dude and his shitty low IQ players. Almost all of them can go fuck off and play at Southwest Nowhere State A&M.
Time to rebuild this dumpster fire of a program.
Fuck Howard. If they don’t fire him now, he will completely obliterate this program in the seasons ahead.
Trash post, at the end of the day these are kids playing a game. Dont get your feelings so hurt about it.
Nah, these are not kids - they are all adults making money on NIL - practically making them pro players, and they can be called trash on a message board when they play like dogshit for an entire year.
Many of them getting paid. Some of them quite a bit.
Ah, I see they're >18 so you can go trashing them over a game.
Well, I'm going to trash you over a post, you dumbass fucknut pathetic piss puddle.
If you're under 18 I profusely apologize.
There, did I do it right, shit dumpster?
A for effort! That was great tbh
My guess is you made a similar post about Beilein after the 2014-15 season.
Your guess would be wrong.
Guaranteed. If not him another of the clones.
Save this bullshit for the in game thread. Time to snap back to reality Neo.
Fitting way to end the season. Not sure why Terrance Williams gets so many significant minutes, especially at the end of games.
disgrace.
You are right. Should have been Tschetter in there??
When all you need to do is inbound the ball safely, Jace or even Joey Baker probably could have done better than TWill there.
