Must have flipped recently... I'm so confused...

Odds for Harbaugh's team in 2024 at BetMGM:

+175 @UMichFootball
+225 Chargers
+600 Falcons
+700 Raiders
+1000 Bears
+1400 Titans
+1400 Any other NFL or NCAA team

It's evidence that he's open to leaving if a very particular NFL situation becomes available to him. I imagine he is also very open to staying at Michigan if a very particular contract is offered to him now.

For example: if Michigan decided to start getting major NIL together to compete with the big boys, offered him burger and sign gate immunity and gave him his arbitration clause, and got the money right, I think he's mostly a lock to stay.

If and NFL team offers to basically make him head coach and GM AND has a pretty strong Cap and personnel situation, he would be extremely tempted to go.

Except that he doesn't need to sign a new contract with U-M to go to the NFL.  Moreover, I don't see him as the kind of guy who would sign a new deal here and then decide to bolt.

It's been suggested that these clauses his camp is reportedly insisting on (and U-M balking at fulfilling) are simply a stall tactic, to buy time for himself while NFL franchises might make a decision on him.  Maybe ... but again, I don't see him as a guy who'd negotiate dishonestly.

I think he's genuinely torn.  In addition to simply having an interest in the pros, it seems that (as his friend Todd Anson regularly seems to suggest) there is apparently something about his professional relationship with Manuel, or someone else at U-M, that is lacking.  Anson regularly alludes to this (while usually adding that he thinks Harbaugh will end up sticking around).

Which is fine and dandy coming off 15-0.  You guys will feel different if/when Moore or insert random guy has them at 8 or 9 win seasons and losing to OSU again more often than not.

This is one of 5 guys on the planet able to do what he does and happens to be an alum.

Maybe teleport back 12 years and remember the feeling.

Not sure what your point is. No one is saying they want Harbaugh to leave. How does your statement change if he leaves next offseason instead of this off season? Are you assuming all of these NFL flirtations he is doing are just that, flirtations? And he will never leave Michigan until  he retires? If so, why even do them?
No one wants him to leave that I know of. We just want him to make up his mind.

Here's the bottom line for me: there is no reason to believe any coach is an upgrade over Harbaugh.  The man inherited a Michigan program that had gone 46-42 in the seven previous years.  He's gone 89-25 and just delivered arguably the best 3-year run in school history, capped off with a national title.  There is no rational reason to believe we'd be better off with any other coach, and the internal candidates can only stand to benefit from being around him longer.  So yeah, we should want him here as long as possible, whether that's one, two, or ten more years.

This is so ridiculously short sighted. I get that people don't like the annual month long tummy ache in the off season and I'd want him gone if we were finishing second in conference and losing the citrus bowl every year but we're perennial champions and just won it all on the best season in Michigan football history. "just get outta here, pal" is such a dumb ass take lol

The price to pay is the recruits and transfers we miss out on every year, which will now start to catch up to us with all of the high level and talented players leaving for the NFL or other schools.

We were able to retain the core group of players in spite of Harbaugh’s flirtations with the NFL, because they were one team all together for the same mission.

Will that continue after this years National Championship? I guess time will tell. But so far this offseason it has not. Just look at the WR from idaho, Gatlin Bair. All reports say he would have already signed with Michigan, but he wants to know what Harbaugh will do first.

the recruits and transfers we miss out on every year,

Such as?  Who have we lost?

It seems to me like we've cleaned up in the portal these last few years.  How could we have done any better?

If anything, what might have hurt us this year is that our season went on so long and JJ didn't announce his NFL decision until last weekend.

I am with you CW.  Let him check what’s out there.  Let’s not forget a few years ago it seemed nobody wanted Harbaugh even Michigan so good for him to remind himself and us what a great job he has done by listening to the NFL.  In the end he will reconfirm what we and he already know, he has a great job at a great place where he has a lot of say and now a President who gets how important the program is to the University.  Good luck getting all of that at a 3-5 year stint with any NFL team.  I seriously doubt they will check enough boxes to get him to leave but if they do then great for him, he deserves it.  Nothing that happens today or tomorrow or after will take away the absolute joy it has been to be a Michigan fan the last 3 years.  Thank you Jim Harbaugh and please stay!

It was FINALLY addressed this morning on the Michigan Insider that the yearly rumors of Harbaugh to the NFL are hurting recruiting. Jim in the end needs to do whats best for him, but if he stays...I surely hope he can address the constant rumors. You know (we have seen it this year) that there's people being paid to negatively impact Michigan. Squash the talk and move forward.

I hope the whole gang stays together for one more year, but if Jim does leave I hope he is the only one who does.

He gave us everything we could have even dared to ask for.  So he gets a long leash with us.

But it's not about us.  It's about Michigan.  I don't see why he would want to hurt the program he spent so much blood, sweat, and tears building back up.

And this weird will-he-won't-he dance is starting to hurt the program.  It could be handled differently.

Honestly I'm not really even paying attention to the Harbaugh stuff.  Even if he stays this year and signs a new contract, he will continue to interview with the NFL every year and we are going to just have to deal with that.  I am honestly starting to think he just genuinely likes the attention.  He is going to be Michigan's coach until he is not.

If Harbaugh does come back to Michigan, it will be because he did not get what he wanted from the NFL.  So, he will try again next year.  And the year after that.

Which, fine.  Chase your dreams, you've earned it.

But if he comes back, he needs to come up with a coherent and public succession plan.  Such as anoint Sherrone as the coach-in-waiting and then mentor him to take the head coach position when the time comes.

Recruits and transfers will then know who they may wind up playing for.  There is no need for all of the chaos and uncertainty.  It is starting to unnecessarily do damage to the program he loves, why would he want to do that?.

After this year, if no one offers JH an NFL HC job with all the openings and all of his recent success, then why should we think than anyone will offer him a job in the future? At that point I think he's stuck with U-M and U-M is stuck with him, for better or worse. Hopefully better.

You're comparing the odds from DraftKing to the odds at BetMGM.

I heard an interview recently from an executive from one of these sites and he acknowledged they basically pull these odds out of their ass which is why the significantly limit the amount you're allowed to bet.  They post these as basically a teaser to get you on the site with a small bet to hopefully get you to bet much larger amounts on the games they do know something about.

This is correct.  These markets have super low limits and are not "sharp" markets.  They're basically an advertisement.

MGM / DraftKings are legal sites, but a lot of the times you see odds for crazy markets, it's at the offshore books (illegal books) that do it for the publicity.

I wouldn't read too much into the odds.  If they swing widely, that would be more informative.

On the DK Sportsbook app, click NFL to see all their NFL markets. There is a list of "tabs" along the top that starts with Game Lines, Progressive Parlay, etc. Scroll all the way to the right to see "Head Coaches"

They have odds for Bill B and Jim.

I don't use DK's website for betting, so I can't tell you how to find it there.

mGrowOld

It's not there and that's my point.  You dont use it for betting, I do, and cannot make a bet.

There is nothing listed for head coaches in states where you can actually place a wager on this.  I'm guessing you're in a state where you cant bet so they can post stuff like this without any fear of anyone actually betting on it.  Here in Ohio, where sports betting is legal, there is no way to place a bet on where Jim will end up.

These are fake odds because there's no way to bet on them.
