How "yore" are you talking here?  Because I can't remember anyone like him in a long long time.

He's not Chris Webber because Webber may be the most dominant freshman in Michigan b-ball history. But Webber is probably the last time we had a 6-10 guy who was that active on the offensive boards and on defense.

This year has undoubtedly been a disappointment. However, there is hope to hang out hats on. Dug & Tarris will be a force for several years to come in this conference.

In terms of impact I can see it, but Tarpley was taller and thinner.

From that era I might go with "rich man's Butch Wade."

It's hard to remember many Michigan hoopsters of that height and weight who were as "quick twitch" as Tarris is. Subtract about thirty pounds from Traylor and you might have something similar.

Off-topic: I can see Tarris as an edge in football.

It's okay. Green is a very talented player who has succeeded at all levels. If he wasn't such a head case, he'd be an even better asset for the warriors. As it is, he's borderline expendable because of the emotional baggage and unnecessary fouls that he commits. But you take away the negative aspects, and he'd be one of the best players in the league over his career.

At his best, Reed looks like a young Rodman out there. 10 rebs in 24 mins against a team that’s top 20% in rebounding margin.

Gotta give credit to Dug McDaniel too. He was absolutely awful at Breslin and responded tonight by being the best player on the floor. As a freshman.

I've been saying he reminds me of a Rodman or Ben Wallace since early on. For a big man he is so athletic and agile. Great body control, quick reflexes. Has a knack for finding the basketball. Love how he can defend anyone 1 thru 5. He was guarding Walker and Hoggard at times yesterday and they couldn't blow by him.

Boy I don't know.  Rodman was a pogo stick.  His ability to re-jump instantly was elite.

Reed is VERY athletic but Rodman was a unicorn.  Plus Reed's offensive game is already more polished than Rodman's when Rodman was in the NBA.  His first few seasons he never scored on anything but a putback or a fast-break dunk.

Ouch.  I can't believe you mentioned the name that shall not be mentioned.  I admired his grit until he violently threw a Wolverine to floor in an effort to stop a breakaway at the other end of the floor.  He should have been tossed for a flagrant foul.   The refs were a huge disappointment on that sequence and I blame that guy for it.

the evolution of Tarris Reed this season has been fun to watch.  His game is really starting to come together and he was a defensive beast/workhorse tonight in a gutsy win.  Love to see it!

I have been a bit puzzled by the lottery talk for Howard.  He is unquestionably a gifted offensive player but honestly if he did go lottery is there such a thing as Lottery-G League?  He is a good shooter but he doesn’t appear to have elite athleticism.  Has he had really any impressive takes this year that he has finished?  Is there anything about what he does that is better than second year Sauce Castillo who flamed out in like 15 minutes?

I like Jett but I’m not enamored with him.  I would love to see him back and run Dug-Kobe-Jett-Reed-Hunter for a whole season.  Next year could be a squad if all came back.  Even if Hunter goes elsewhere they would be very formidable.

Jett is a very good off-the-dribble jump shooter in isolation. Big skill to have in today's NBA. Stauskas could shoot great on spot ups and catch & shoots, and was pretty good off the dribble too BUT usually needed a screen (shout out Jordan Morgan) to get enough separation. NBA teams will bank on Jett developing a little more offensive versatility and defensive IQ as he gets older to go with the great jump shooting.

Stauskas may not have stuck in the NBA regardless, but getting bullied/hazed mercilessly by DeMarcus Cousins as a rookie destroyed his confidence.

Size is really what Jett has on Stauskas. Jett is multiple inches taller and just a bigger, thicker dude in general. Ball handling is definitely a weakness of Jett's offensive game so big advantage to Sauce there. I think NBA rookie Jett would be a Just-A-Shooter who struggles mightily defensively and probably sees a lot of the bench.

Stauskas on the other hand would be in the NBA still if he could hit his open looks. His shooting went cold on him once he got to the pros.

Jett and Stauskas are both listed at 6' 6".  Stauskas is plenty tall.

As you said, the real problem is that for some reason he lost his shooting touch in the NBA.  Not that he's been terrible as he's a career 35.4% 3-point shooter.  But that was supposed to be his game. After shooting 44% in college you expected 40%+ from him in the NBA.

I have no idea why his shot left him.  Maybe he just didn't have the range to step back a few more feet and hit at the same rate.

He’s a beast who works his tail off. I hope though that he gives up his ‘brick layer’ job at the FT line. I can envision the opposition with smiles on their faces when they put him on the line.

I still think we are playing Reed at the wrong time in games.  He makes 1/3 of his free throws so rather than turning to Dickinson and Reed together at the end of games......he should be starting at the 4.  Nobody intentionly fouls in the first half and he sets the team's hustle culture with his hustle.

Ten freshmen and sophomores on this roster. Three from the sophomore to senior classes have left early for the pros. This team, essentially, has no upperclassman leadership. The youngsters are going to have to carry the load-hence the struggles of this team so far.  The three underclassmen who led the team to victory on this night are going to have to continue to do so-if it is to be done. This is a gargantuan task/asking.
