So... With TCU's loss, what happens now? Is a rematch basically guaranteed?

Totally off topic here. I ordered the fury-chisora heavyweight boxing fight its about to start now. Live from tottingham stadium in London. During tyson fury ring walk, which was quite the show, they played the Mr.Brightside song and just like Michigan stadium the whole crowd sang in unison it was pretty damn cool. Wth is it with this song and how did this infiltrate England!

12-1 conference championship participant TCU with 5 ranked wins and 1 OT loss in said conference championship > 11-1 ohio with no conference championship game and 2 ranked wins who lost by 22 at home...

If GA wins

1) GA 2) M 3) TCU 4) ohio

If LSU wins

1) M 2) GA 3) ohio 4) TCU

Precedent for no 2 loss teams, precedent to avoid a semis rematch.

Only question is if M gets to 1 would they prefer to take Atlanta or Phoenix.  GA at 1 is locked in Atlanta

I admit, the shitposting was extremely fun the first couple days after The Game, and I loved each and every single one of them, but now it's not getting old, and maybe the mods should start reigning in the shitposting and pointless hawt takes again.

I wouldn't put it beyond the numbnuts that run this clownshow to decide that a Georgia v Alabama and UM v OSU rematch is the biggest possible viewership payday for the semis. F*** 'em.

All I know is that if there was any chance this team could sleepwalk through tonight's game, these two games should wake them up.

It opens the door for a rematch, but the way they lost it’s no guarantee either way. I’d still favor TCU at 3 because they clearly have seeded to avoid rematches in round 1 in the past…

…but that was to avoid an SEC rematch. With the two teams being Big Ten who the hell knows. I put the odds around 60/40 of TCU or OSU round 1. I do not trust the committee at all.

What the fuck is so hard to understand… four top 25 wins & FG loss in OT championship game vs. embarrassing 22 point loss at home … seriously get some intelligence

I don't think TCU losing to a 9-3 team with their back up QB keeps them in the Top 4. They didn't look like a Top 4 team at all. But going by how many down votes you have I can see lots of people on this site don't want to hear it.

You’re not wrong. Personally I think the playoff should be four teams from four conferences, but now it turns out that thr B12, PAC and ACC don’t even have any candidates. This is why I don’t like expanding to 12 teams. What’s the point, we can’t even find 4 worthy teams.

The whole point of going to 4 teams was to make sure the true #1 and true #2 teams in the Nation had a shot at winning the National Championship. Because going by polls to pick the top 2 teams to play in the National Championship had problems with bias in the voting. 4 teams getting in was supposed to help get the bias out.

If I told the truth, I think it would suck if TCU got in. Because watching them today it's clear they aren't one of the top 4 teams in the Nation. Alabama would likely beat them. There's probably 7 or 8 teams that would likely beat TCU. I think they should be ranked #8 or #9 by the CFP tomorrow night. Their W-L record in the Big 12 is misleading.

But the CFP committee will probably put them at #5.

I’ve always thought that the CFP should just be the 4 highest ranked conference champions. Like I’m excited to play tonight and a chance to repeat as Big Ten champs but the game tonight has almost no impact on Michigan’s season at this point. If Georgia wins they are locked in at 2.  Imagine if tonight was playing for a CFP spot and if they lose their season is over?  Conference titles are being devalued with the current system. The 12 team will bring more value to it.

I personally value Conference titles so I’m all about the game tonight but I wouldnt be surprised if some people wanted to make the argument to sit key players to prevent injuries because the Natty is the ultimate goal

Why is everyone so afraid of a rematch? We spent the whole year prepping for Ohio and then curb stomped them at their own stadium. We'd be lucky to get such a soft team in the playoff.

Absolutely not at all afraid of a rematch. Just makes me nervous to give OSU a chance to avenge the loss. You can’t erase UMs win and if they were playing on a neutral field I like our guys but there is a non-zero chance OSU can win and that would be emotionally devastating.

If the rematch happens I’ll get over it quickly and start getting excited to have the ultimate bragging rights, but for now I prefer to root against that outcome in the semis. Even if you remove the emotional stakes, TCU is simply the lesser team. TCU is good but I think OSU is better before you even add in the rivalry and what it means to both sides

TCU has clearly earned a higher seeding than OSU.  A 3 point overtime loss in an extra game is immensely superior to a 22 point home loss in the regular season.  OSU should be the #4 seed and play Georgia in the semifinal.  But who knows what the committee will arbitrarily decide?

i don't like Ohio St getting into the playoffs either. But TCU lost to the #10 team with their back up QB. That should never happen to a Top 4 team. What if Georgia lost to the #10 team with their back up QB, or Michigan?

Besides the fact that TCU has a better resume than OSU, the better ratings matchup is to split OSU and UM.  Both those teams draw eyeballs.

A UGA - TCU matchup would not be attractive.
