That's because Centene Ice…

That's because Centene Ice Center has a capacity of 2,500 tip-up seats (NCAA hinted at trying to add seats to 3,000 total), with multiple well-traveled/attended teams in the regional.  The powers that be, in all their wisdom, combined the least possible supply with the highest demand.

Michigan and Nebraska both…

Michigan and Nebraska both have the exact same number of conference road wins (1), yet Nebrasketball is playing for a double-bye while Michigan is solidly in 14th by 4 full games.

With the caveat of…

With the caveat of understanding that the PW rankings could and probably will change a bit, how would the current standings work for pairings in the Dance?

Is Michigan an automatic 3 as #10, and the other 3 B1G qualifiers all 2-seeds at #5-7? Would Michigan be thus automatically paired against #8 Maine, or is there flexibility in moving teams up or down a seed-line/ what would be the most likely matchup scenario if PW rankings were to hold steady?

I am in Houston (well, Katy,…

I'd happily pay 10% above price for the hassle/imposition to snag a ticket/tag along -

At the risk of sounding too forward, I am in Houston (well, Katy, 20 miles away from NRG) and have a 2-br 1200 sq ft Vegas resort-style new apartment (big pools both buildings, hot tub sits 20, free Starbucks, I can grill out 70-degree weather) -

41 year old male/ gf would most likely not want to go given the price point, so just a solo ticket...

Could work out arrangements for 2nd bedroom /separate bathroom too if accommodations needed. Probably just Uber down and back, half hour each way without traffic.  Been to NRG dozens of times and know the layout well.

Michigan 48, anOSU 19.

The trajectory from 42-27 and 45-23 naturally lends to 48-19.

Blake Corum with 5 TD's a la Hassan Haskins the last time we hosted the Cooler Poopers, only this to set the all-time UM rushing TD mark.

It's Blake's turn; he deserves a regular season ending send-off as fitting (or moreso) than Haskins and The Don the past 2 years.

When this was announced late…

When this was announced late summer/early fall, the thought was a night game in EL outside late November may drive away the few fans that would attend - at least in Ford Field, there's comfortable accommodations and a lot of PSU fans will travel on a holiday weekend for an inside 'neutral' game.

I recall Valenti (yeah I know he's an asshat but enjoy when he's irate) being pissed MSU acquiesced to giving up a home game with 'significant ramifications,' and remember thinking 'why? Sparty isn't going to be bowl-eligible anyway - at least let SOME fans enjoy not being miserable in your 30-degree outside East Landfill concrete jungle'

Thank you.  This is the spot…

Thank you.  This is the spot I'm targeting. Never asked before since I haven't previously been on PST for a noon EST kickoff - much appreciated.  This all came together fast and working out the logistics in real time - can't miss 1 of our 2 season-defining regular season games. Probably could've worded it better, as apparently I sound like a rich a-hole for spending $100 on a car rental upgrade after the free basic interior room cruise..

I run the Detroit Lions meetup here in Houston if you're ever around - bar tab on me. Audio every game.

Hope to see you out there on the 11th.

Deeply indebted to you for…

Deeply indebted to you for the ingenious and novel concept on the 'little-known' 'item' that you quantify Google as.

As previously iterated many times and presumably glossed over - almost ALL these bars open at 11am/later. Since this board is a wealth of knowledge (and unnecessary gratuitous snark), I thought I'd ask those with first-hand experience, as opposed to crossing my fingers and showing up at places that have variable operating hours...

Your contribution has been processed with the amount of due care that it deserves!

Thank you kindly! Do you…

Thank you kindly! Do you know if they will be open for the 9am kick?  Online the 2 UM bars say 10-11am...

Staying near LAX/SoFi if you want to exchange contact info/buy you a beer or tailgate Sunday

Thank you kindly -…

Thank you kindly - bookmarked.  Close by and open at that time - much appreciated

Tough crowd! Just asked for…

Tough crowd! Just asked for a place to watch at 9am, but I'm sure the snark is irresistible. The illegal immigrants comment is in extremely poor taste, brother.

A free basic economy cruise cabin after working 90 hours a week the last 3 months isn't living it up at the Ritz.  I am excited for my first-ever trip to Cali and thought a $100 splurge to upgrade the rental was a justifiable expense.

I mean, I've never been to…

I mean, I've never been to Cali outside of a layover, and can't pass up a free cruise after working 80-90 hours per week August-Oct 16 busy season tax as a public CPA manager at a top-10 public firm, so it's not all glitz and glamour.  Yes I splurged an extra $100 to get a convertible for the 2-hour drive to LA, and since SoFi has all my $ in invest/student loans/CC/banking/other, might as well see the stadium I'm helping to subsidize in a Lions-Chargers shootout.  Should be a fun weekend.

Thank you for the link -…

Thank you for the link - both say they open after 10-11am; I reached out to the bar contact.

Wouldn't be a problem to find a place at noon, but 9am/bar/audio has been more difficult than anticipated.

Negative.  Texas, Ohio State…

Negative.  Texas, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Washington are ALL in the Top 9 in EVERY poll, and occupy 5 of the top 8 non-Michigan spots in every ranking.

Next year, Michigan plays 5 of the current top-8 in all national rankings.

Thanks - wasn't aware it was…

Thanks - wasn't aware it was a 5-play, so some of the 3:1 inequities will subside with 3 vs. 2-plays...

Re: your quote 'I don't think playing all teams home and away in four years is possible if you have any protected games' - it's very simple:

1 protected rival (play both years), leaves 16 remaining (not including oneself) teams - play 8:8 every two years, and rotate home/away - each stadium is played in a 4-year cycle.

This would require each team to have 1 (and only 1) protected rival, however.

If the B1G kept 1 protected…

If the B1G kept 1 protected rival (Ohio St) for each team, every team could play the other 16 exactly once every 2 years - but that synergy and logic makes too much sense.

Instead, we will have the balanced schedule of playing Ohio State and MSU every single year, Indiana and Oregon 3/4 years, and Maryland/Nebraska/Purdue/Wisconsin only 1 time in 4 years -

Maryland and Nebraska 2024 freshmen who stay 4 years will not play in The Big House.

I get that it's tricky with 18 and 9 conference games, but it should be more balanced than what is proposed.

We play 5 of the 8 total top…

We play 5 of the 8 total top-9 teams in all polls not named Michigan

You're correct that, in the …

You're correct that, in the (unlikely) scenario of a 3-(or more) way tie for 1st in the B1G East EOY - the most likely scenario being 8-1 UM, 8-1 OSU, 8-1 PSU, with each having both beaten and lost to the other 2 one time - it would come down to the 5th tiebreaker, which is cross-division record of opponents played.  As PSU plays NW, they are likely 3rd place in this scenario.  M-OSU have 2 common crossovers, with us playing Nebraska and OSU playing Wisconsin -

Again, very unlikely to happen (if PSU or OSU loses any other B1G game than between The Big 3 in the B1GE it's a moot point), but if that were the case we are HUGE Nebraska fans, and really need them to beat Wisconsin in Madison in (I believe) the 2nd to last week of the regular season.  Non-con has nothing to do with it - i.e. OSU could be 10-2 with a loss at ND, against 11-1 UM and 11-1 PSU, but if all were 8-1 B1G they're tied in the B1G tiebreaking procedures, and OOC is not one of the tiebreakers.

Personally, if I'm at all concerned, it's moreso with the H2H tiebreaker against 1 team - if OSU loses in Madison, and then all 3 B1GE go 1-1 H2H, OSU is out in 3rd with 2 B1G losses, but UM could lose an 8-1 tiebreak if the 1 is at Happy Valley the 3rd to last week of the season (presuming OSU beats PSU at home).

Just win all the games.

Perhaps I'm just ornery that it's the height of tax season, and taking out my frustrations of working 60+ hour weeks/25+ hours this holiday weekend by being the grammar police.  There should be better ways of decompressing.

I think I'm going to take a lunch break for once and go buy some ribeyes, on sale at Kroger. That on the grill, along with a 6-pack and pulling for the Chips against MeLLLLLLL-O-Rail should get me in better spirits tonight.  /end self-reflection

Peacock has 24-25M paid…

Peacock has 24-25M paid subscribers as of Q2 2023 (which has gone up since), up from 9M Q4 2021.

Peacock is free to Xfinity cable subscribers (may be a certain tier threshold, which I have, included for 2 years free), which amounts to 15.5M Xfinity subscribers.

There are over 40M separate Peacock paid/subsidized subscribers in the US alone.

Railing against people not watching isnt going to change that. It's expanding.

I'm doing very well, thanks. I still fail to understand how you fellating yourself is a joke. Crass and not seeing the humor you purport, as opposed to taking the obvious L. Interesting to see this strategy deployed as opposed to taking the 2 seconds required in correcting it.

Have a good week. Perhaps spend 1/100th the time researching how to spell an easy name than doing research on said grossly misspelled player's name's highlights and/or defending untenable positions and fellating yourself, albeit in a somehow humorous way?

Cheers.

It's extremely lazy to…

It's extremely lazy to misspell a simple name like Jadyn so badly (wrong 3rd letter, wrong 4th letter, no I in the name, wrong 5th letter, nonexistent 6th letter...), regardless of it being such a prominent name like our incoming 5* QB to boot.

Being so flippant in doubling down on this unnecessary glaring error by offering to fellate yourself is not only eerily creepy - regardless of distasteful sarcasm - but is exactly the kind of casual dismissal of even basic posting etiquette that led to the off-putting plethora of misspellings littering this board. Do better.

*Jadyn Davis. Might as well…

*Jadyn Davis. Might as well at least make an attempt to spell our 5* QB commit's name correctly, since it really isn't that difficult and we couldn't do it with others (Rudock is not a Ruddock, Aidan is not Aiden, Dickinson is not Dickenson, among countless others).

I know what you mean, and really the only reason (well, that and bundling with an internet 'discount,' I suppose) I haven't cut the cord.  I like instantaneous updates that TV affords, but waiting - even for a few seconds - for YTTV or Peacock or <insert stream platform> to populate, is just too much for me.  I need instant gratification, and to see 6 different screen score updates during a Michigan TV timeout...

I anticipate using a laptop/phone/etc for secondary streaming going forward, just can't stand the gap for the main console.

I mean, if you've already…

I mean, if you've already paid your buck+99 pence for the month, might as well stick around to see the bloodshed as Penix throw for 548 and 6 TD's in the Washington-michigan state game on Sept 16, exclusively on Peacock!

Yes, I'm a dork and benchmark everything and thirsty for football during the dog days of summer.

There's only 2 more outside…

There are only 2 more outdoor night games than before.  As the B1G was previously allowed to flex thru Daylight Savings Time (see Michigan-Rutgers Nov 5, 2022) without member institution consent, this year's Nov 4 Purdue-UM game would have been eligible.  Only Nov 11 sparty-OSU and Nov 18 Neb-Wisc are new late time slots outside, with sparty playing PSU in the Detroit Lion Dome.

It will be interesting to see how November night games are scheduled starting in 2024.  I would guess a good share will be at USC/UCLA to minimize Midwest night game outdoor exposure.

This was on November 9, 1997…

This was on November 9, 1997 - the very day that #4 Michigan went to #2 undefeated Penn State in Happy Valley and absolutely curb stomped the Nittany Lions 34-0 (yes, I know it was 34-8 at the end, as Curtis p-Enis had a garbage last-min TD against 3rd string).

Nebraska absolutely survives a 7-5 team on a fluke kick-up - on 4th down - on an expiring game clock to send the game to OT.  At the same time, Michigan hands Joe Pa his worst home loss in his 32-year career, as a #2 undefeated natty favorite to boot.

This is what catapulted Michigan to the undisputed #1 ranking in ALL polls from that week on - until the Osborne retirement waterworks miraculously incredulously changed the final coaches poll vote to 34-32 Nebraska (Michigan unquestionably won the AP going away), and ushered in the BCS (emphasis on first/last letter of acronym) prior to the CFP.

They just switched the Texas…

They just switched the Texas-Michigan game to Ann Arbor earlier this year to satisfy the media rights/ Big 12 exit schedules for Texas and Oklahoma - there's a million articles on it from February, here's one:

https://hookemheadlines.com/2023/02/10/texas-football-and-michigan-will-flip-home-and-home-series-in-2024/

Michigan - Texas at A2 2024 and Austin 2027 is solidly locked in.

It's not protected - since…

It's not protected - since there are 2 protected (Ohio State, Michigan State) there has to be a 3rd team Michigan plays twice in the 2024/2025 two-year cycle, and it happens to be Maryland.

There's a detailed article in the Athletic about the 'Flex Protect' model - that other non-protected 2-year team (called a 'two-play') will rotate - there will be another team we play in both 2026 and 2027 that is not Maryland, along with both Ohio State and Michigan State.

I felt the exact same way the last 3 glorious summers in Michigan (and 8 Big House game visits during the 2 CFP years); alas, having moved back to Texas - and the temperature outside in degrees Fahrenheit already rivaling that of the countdown clock number today - I foresee plenty of inside, A/C, shaded activities in addition to the pool the next few months. 'Fall' (aka not quite 100 degrees anymore) can't get here soon enough.  It's beautiful October-April, for a coin-flip tradeoff.

Au Contraire!

Sparty was up…

Au Contraire!

Sparty was up 24-7 at half - and then 31-14 late 3Q - at home, on senior day, needing a W to become bowl eligible, and lost 39-31 to an Indiana team who's QB position went a full game of 2/7 for 31 yards (and, if I recall, all 2 of their total game completions were in 1H).

Losing to a bad team that has no QB at home on senior day, in which you lead by 3 scores late, was only exacerbated by the comedy of errors that was sparty's goal-line offense when 31-31 just before end of regulation (and ended up badly missing a FG from the 1-2 yard line to send to OT after mismanaging the clock).

Pure, unadulterated, delicious schadenfreude at its finest, watching their stunned fans (all 15 of them) walk out in the cold rain after the epic collapse kept them from bowl season eligibility and the much-needed practices it affords...

Yes I probably took entirely too much satisfaction out of that one, but you can't make this script up - epic collapse.

OP,

'since I will have…

OP,

'since I will have bought them early for a reasonable price'

does not exist in the 4-team CFP universe.  The best chance is to enter the pay-to-play lottery, where you fork out 'X' dollars for the right to buy face-value tix should your team make it (and forfeit the chance and cash if not).  Michigan will be an expensive 'X' this year as well.  Also, those tickets (coming from 3 people I know who have done this the last 2 years) end up being ~$450+ nosebleeds.  Between corporate sponsorships, team allotment, stadium club seat earmarks for season ticketholders etc etc - there will be no such thing as a reasonable/face value price for Mr. Average Joe.

Been to Vegas several times…

Been to Vegas several times during NHL season/mostly November the last few years - visiting team jerseys everywhere. Every visiting team's fans make a weekend of it there.  Regardless of the teams/fan bases playing in the FF - that April weekend in Vegas (80-90 degree highs and open pool season) will be packed. Vegas has found that there are ancillary/adjacent benefits to hosting games that wouldn't necessarily fill a stadium with home fans only (NCAA bball November, Knights, Raiders, etc).

Same philosophy for Middle…

Same philosophy for Middle Tennessee State.  And Syracuse when seeded 11 or below. And Nevada as a 10.

But alas, only one of these teams can 'hit all the lucky shots'* to knock Sparty out each year.

*Izzo near-annual post-game press conference after losing as a massive favorite to a double-digit seed since 2000.
