SIAP: OSU Schadenfreude - Tony Gerdeman goes full whiny emo

Submitted by poseidon7902 on November 27th, 2023 at 4:08 PM

He gets a lot of praise around here for his Michigan Monday column, but this time, I think we need to make sure he's not hurting himself.  The entire thing reads like a comment from my 6 year old son to his older sister after she beats him up for being annoying.

That was really lame.  I thought he might have something more interesting to say about his own team, but nope... it's all Michigan and continuing the narrative that we somehow aren't deserving and will get our own in the end.

Why would we ever stop posting these?

it was full melt down. It was someone who understood his team did EVERYTHING it could to win and then didn’t.

It is then filled with fantasies (the NCAA will do something OSU couldn’t ), crybaby snark (it took Harbaugh 7 years to win his first), crazy exaggerations (UM fans expecting a coaching change) and many more pathetic takes.

Watching someone go from a condescending douche to someone who has lost hope is glorious.

Those who stay will get to freely say every last thing they want to about an Ohio State team that fell 22 yards short, knowing that no comeback will suffice.

The smallest of nits, but I found this amusing. Am I correct in interpreting the argument as they fell 22 yards short because we picked them off at the 22? It's not like they ever had the ball at the 22 during the drive, or had a chance to catch it if Moore doesn't make the play.

That's like saying I was 90 feet away from the winning run when I got thrown out at first because I ground out to Ryan Day.

I find funny how Tony and other OSU commenters believe the 6 point margin of victory is further proof that the last two years with larger margins is a result of stolen signs… conveniently forgetting one major difference - Harbaugh on the sidelines worth more than any Stalion shenanigans.

He worked way too hard on that article.  He could have summed up that whole screed in one sentence:

"those who stay are forcing us to realize, we have become our own worst enemy."

Buckeye Huddle Fat Fuck Tony Gerdeman and his Simpson's pal, Ralph Wiggums-lookalike Tom Moore, were among the most rampant and biggest cheerleaders for over the top Big Ten enforcement of the Stalions case against Michigan.

Those guys along with Kirk Barton and his erstwhile gambling partner, Nevada Buck, seemingly had early daily reports of every development in the Stalions saga before the rest of the sports media.

They led their bullshit shows every night since the story broke with every new report and nuanced detail insisting Michigan should get the death penalty for breaking Big Ten rules and stealing signals, or, at the very least have games vacated including the two past wins over Ohio State and then have Harbaugh indefinitely suspended so he'd have to head back to the NFL.

But that's not all, they advocated the Big Ten removing Michigan's OC and DC because they acted on sign stealing data from Stalions. Nevada Buck claimed to have more inside knowledge from broadcast industry sources and knew more than anyone at Michigan about Harbaugh's coaching status.

And he repeatedly insisted Michigan officials hated Harbaugh and wanted him gone, and that Stalions was the perfect opportunity to unload him.

Barton is a former OSU football player and coach who worked under Urban Meyer during the Zach Smith period. He waited hours after Ohio State's loss Saturday before doing a fresh podcast. Fuck the bullshit Buckeye media. They can choke on Ryan Day's loss to an interim coach they pushed to reality.

Not giving him a single click, but I seem to distinctly remember for years that after a loss, all OSU fans and beat writers would talk about with Michigan is “Stop whining, stop making excuses, take your loss like an adult and build a better team.”

Nowadays it’s just “we had the flu,” or “outside of five plays we dominated you,” or “it was snowing” or “BUT BUT BUT THEY’RE CHEATING!!!”

To quote a great man, “Stop whining and get a better team.”

Those who stay will point to this game as proof that the sign stealing over the past two years had no impact on this rivalry, while completely ignoring the differences in margins of victory.

I wonder what a head coach is worth in regards to the margin of victory or an All-American offensive guard or a lockdown corner? Ohio State was completely healthy and had all the advantages in the world and still could not win the game. Pointing to a lower margin of victory as vindication that Connor Stalions' operation was aided in any way is farcical.

We won't ignore the difference in score and we will counter that you worked successfully to have Jim Harbaugh removed from the game and still came out the loser because that is what you are, now own it!

This is such hilarious whiny bs. A smaller margin of victory this year proves that sign-stealing made a difference? So he’s saying we still would have won in 21 and 22, but not by as much.

I don't know, I mean Gerdeman sounds a lot like many of our beat writers sounded after JT was short. Frankly, if the roles were reversed, he sounds exactly what I'd expect MGoBlog to sound like...and Balas...Sam...Hole. And after reading what coach Harbaugh said in today's presser about the rivalry, I'd go along with a more respectful rivalry. I want our teams to show up every year undefeated, everything on the line and may the best team win, but I digress. Gerdeman? Meh, he's just doing what we'd expect. No harm, no foul, and best of all, not much positive for him to write about.

Hey Tony, you do realize OSU changed their signs last year AND this year right? So your margin of victory argument is a bunch of bullshit, just like your team.

Those who stay will see the the Big Ten require that Ryan Day act as OSU’s head coach against Michigan for the next 30 years as the penalty for OSU’s poor sportsmanship, as evinced by its private investigation, spying and efforts to undermine the Michigan football program.

Oh, come on.  Don't neg the OP.  The Gerdeman article is a laugh riot.

It has about 90% complimentary things.  About 5% things he thinks are insults, yet are actually compliments that he thinks that.  And about 5% are Michigan Derangement Syndrome -- which is hilarious to see coming from him.

OSU has lost 3 games to Michigan, and a bunch of their fans can't handle it.  Talk about soft -- those fans take the prize.  A little hardship, and they implode.  OSU got its own BPONErs after only 3 games.  Weak.

As unhinged as this lament was at least he and his Partner Tom can go back home, push two king size beds together put a hand between two pillows and snuggle their fears away. So there's that...
