SIAP: Brutal new tunnel video
October 30th, 2022 at 12:57 PM ^
That's the one that took me from "suspend some guys" to "fuck 'em, they don't get to play football this year."
Not one guy holding their teammate back. Standing idly by drives me nuts.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:22 PM ^
A few cowards turned their backs and slinked away. Disgusting.
By coward, I mean they don’t have the courage to stand up to their teammate and let him know he’s in the wrong.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
Worried about Michigan players getting hurt deliberately in the scrum after a tackle, we now have to worry about Michigan players getting attacked after a game.
With realignment, I'd be happy dropping this rivalry because it's not a sports rivalry any more.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:34 PM ^
Exactly. Fuck them.
October 30th, 2022 at 2:12 PM ^
Any chance we can get the University of Chicago to pick up sports again and take over MSU’s spot in the Big 10? They would struggle mightily, but at least we’d have an institution of honor and integrity as a conference member again.
October 30th, 2022 at 2:23 PM ^
UC has sports, it's just that they're D3.
October 30th, 2022 at 4:45 PM ^
And then people say things like “iTs ThE tUnNeL” and I lose my remaining sanity.. Fuck how hard is it to NOT assault players after a game is over? Are we such an uncivilized society that we can’t even expect athletes on opposite teams to walk next to each other after a game without expecting a fight to break out? It’s just a game, for the love of god.
Like be upset, even the jawing back and forth I can handle. But this shit is unprecedented - any comparisons to PSU and OSU recently are frankly insulting to PSU and OSU. Jawing and throwing Pb&j is pretty benign compared to fucking criminal gang-like assault that at minimum has resulted in one broken nose.
October 30th, 2022 at 5:04 PM ^
It wasnt long when opposing players prayed together on the field after games
October 30th, 2022 at 2:30 PM ^
Suspend?? They should ALL be expelled and arrested and charged with felony assault! What is the “suspend” bullshit? They don’t deserve such a minimal punishment
October 30th, 2022 at 2:38 PM ^
They don't get to play anything because they should be in jail.
October 30th, 2022 at 2:53 PM ^
I meant the whole team. Force them to forfeit November.
October 30th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
October 30th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
and trying to block the camera...
October 30th, 2022 at 4:09 PM ^
That is apparently their director of football operations
October 30th, 2022 at 7:45 PM ^
He tried to block the camera when MSU was coming down the tunnel at the beginning of the game. Makes sense he would block the camera catching his players assaulting the other team rather than step in. Great leadership.
October 30th, 2022 at 7:31 PM ^
Now they are calling Harbaugh a racist? Wow. Stay classy Staeeee. where is the Gov in all this? She went to MSU.
“Harbaugh isn’t naive. He’s incorporated being “baaad a$$” into the umaa brand. It’s not coincidental that two weeks in a row he’s making remarks about the two minority coach’s in umaa’s division. It’s MSU and PSU’s coaches who don’t have control of their team. Harbaugh needs to make others look bad to make himself look good.”
October 30th, 2022 at 10:32 PM ^
That's pretty stupid, especially since there's actually three minority coaches in the B1G East, not two. Or is Mike Locksley just REALLY tan?
October 30th, 2022 at 7:46 PM ^
Took me from "fuck 'em, they don't get to play football this year" to "throw them in jail." This is criminal behavior. A mere 1 year suspension would be a hilarious miscarriage of justice.
October 30th, 2022 at 12:57 PM ^
See now this is the shit that needs to get prosecuted. Using your helmet to beat someone over the head with it is bitch shit!
October 30th, 2022 at 1:38 PM ^
Wow, does look like he's swinging that helmet. Would expect him to be expelled and prosecuted and perhaps made the scapegoat of the entire situation, while the other thugs that were kicking McBurrows (unconfirmed) while he was on the ground probably only get 1 game suspensions.
October 30th, 2022 at 2:01 PM ^
That’s a felony. Assault with a dangerous instrument.
October 30th, 2022 at 2:42 PM ^
Unless you're Aaron Donald. Then you get a pregame segment about how amazing of a person he is and a statue erected outside of the stadium.
But yes, anyone swinging and hitting people with their helmets should be prosecuted for assault.
October 30th, 2022 at 12:58 PM ^
Jesus Fuck. Looks to be getting hit by a helmet.
October 30th, 2022 at 12:58 PM ^
Expulsion from the University and charges.
October 30th, 2022 at 3:52 PM ^
This is absolutely part of the appropriate recourse for this type of chicken shit behavior. Having said that, I am not putting a lot of faith in the MSU administration to respond in a way that holds these goons fully accountable.
We're talking about an institution that is currently refusing to comply with the Freedom of Information Act around inquiries into how MSU is financing the absurd salary they're paying their football coach.
Factoring in all the other spineless, shoddy behavior from both their Athletic Department and the Administration as a whole in the last few years leads me to believe they will begrudgingly do the absolute bare minimum to get media coverage off their backs and reduce their exposure to law suits. They'll bitch and whine about it the whole time, and play the victim until the story dies down and then take no further action to address the systemic pattern of violent, criminal behavior within their athletic programs.
It may be petty of me, but I hope going forward Jim Harbaugh and the football program's mindset going into this game is to absolutely embarrass and physically dominate MSU for a full 60 minutes every year.
There should be much disrespekt in this rivalry, because Michigan State does not behave in a way worthy of respect to begin with.
October 30th, 2022 at 12:58 PM ^
A new low for this dumpster fire of a football program. It should be a law enforcement issue now and Michigan should move on, at least until MSU week next year.
October 30th, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
Sparty can't explain this one away. Can't confirm, but they say the guy running away is Ben Mathers, the Director of Football Operations for MSU.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:22 PM ^
I recognize him as the guy in the video before the game of MSU coming out of the tunnel.
I remember him b/c he was acting so tough signaling the camera operators to get out of the way. Not so tough now, running away from the attack.
October 30th, 2022 at 3:16 PM ^
My wife called in a douchebag and a real tough guy after that pregame shot. Her judgment was spot on.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:29 PM ^
If true, he should not have that job anymore.
You see one of your players committing assault with a football helmet, and your thought is "I need to get away from the scene?"
October 30th, 2022 at 2:05 PM ^
Looked like he was running to block the camera.
October 30th, 2022 at 3:04 PM ^
Well, as a staff member of Football Operations, he would know the caliber and character of the Spartan players. It would take a second for me to charge into a pack of wild dogs to save a child. And then I would anyway. He is in a role that must be expected to protect student. And I don't mean protect them from prosecution.
October 30th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
That looks like one chickenshit motherfletcher, completely ignoring his responsibility to play the adult. I don't really care if he gets fired, though, because he's gonna get laughed at the rest of his life.
October 30th, 2022 at 2:31 PM ^
Shocking that his Twitter is private.
October 30th, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
Someone download this please before it gets deleted, I’m on a walk right now
October 30th, 2022 at 1:07 PM ^
October 30th, 2022 at 1:00 PM ^
That dude had something in his hand when he hit him. Charges have to be filed.
And what is that Sparty dude (coach?) doing running away instead of pulling his players off?
October 30th, 2022 at 1:26 PM ^
It's his helmet.
And yeah, that's the same GA who was all tough with the camera-guy at the beginning of the game.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
That guy was being ridiculous.
October 30th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
"criminal" is the word you're looking for.
October 30th, 2022 at 3:50 PM ^
Not a GA. That’s MSU Director of Football Operations Ben Mathers.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:00 PM ^
The first video I saw last night made me say, "meh, totally inappropriate, but no big deal. Heat of the moment bad decision. No harm, no foul."
THIS video looks like an MSU player assaulting a UM player with a helmet. That is assault with intent to cause bodily harm and is way, way over the top. Methinks someone is going to end up dealing with the justice system over this...
October 30th, 2022 at 1:07 PM ^
Wait, you thought the video of 10 msu players punching and kicking one Michigan player on the ground was no big deal?
October 30th, 2022 at 1:12 PM ^
Honestly, the first video I saw I could not tell if it was punching or just pushing, sort of a gauntlet of players continuously pushing the UM player to the ground. I couldn't see any legs, so kicking could have been happening but I couldn't really tell. This is, obviously, a clear case of assault.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:27 PM ^
First vid was punching, throwing, stomping, and kicking.
NBD
October 30th, 2022 at 2:06 PM ^
In FauxMo's defense, you couldn't see the player because he was on the ground, once you understand what's actually happening, it's a rough video to watch.
October 30th, 2022 at 9:57 PM ^
In logics defense, there are a multiple issues. 1. There should never be assaults. 2. If you represent a university, there is a threshold above criminality. 3. There is judgment in escalating or deescalating a situation. 4. A scuffle amongst D1 athletes is different than an 18 year old man beating a 55 year old. That is where law is tricky. If you want to get up and say, no one should be assaulted for running to the locker room. Congratulations on making an argument no one disagrees. The MSU players actions are inexcusable. The UM player could have waited a minute or two and have avoided the situation. Both things can be true. The UM player did nothing wrong. But judgement can still be bad. Anyway, I have faith in the police, the press and the Big ten to sort this out.
if this happened in a college bar, all would have been arrested. Fact.

The first video I saw last night made me say, "meh, totally inappropriate, but no big deal. Heat of the moment bad decision. No harm, no foul."
That's not the same as "I couldn't tell...."
October 30th, 2022 at 1:12 PM ^
In this situation it’s not uncommon for that player to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Charges should be filed and arrests made. At the least all MSU players involved should be kicked off the team and out of school
