I hadn't seen that, but what…

I hadn't seen that, but what a way to alienate fans of lesser means. The Stanley Cup was brought to Plymouth Cultural Center for kids and families to get a picture with free.  I love the culture around the Stanley Cup and how it travels with players.

Seeing the University (public) charge so much seems crazy.  I'm hoping it is just now, and there will be other opportunities for fans to get pictures with it for free.

You want to set up an athletic department and mommy and daddy give you $10B, but it only costs you $6B. So if you give back the money, next year...

I'd be 6

...mommy and daddy would only give you $6B, cause that is what they think it costs to run an athletic department.

I think Michigan's 2013 team…

I think Michigan's 2013 team was talented enough to win it all that year.  They had the best point guard that year in Trey Burke with a very competent back up in Spike who played great when Burke had early bullshit foul trouble.  Stauskus was deadly as a shooting guard able to hit outside shots while also being athletic enough to take it to the basket, along with Tim Hardaway Junior who could also handle the ball and was almost as good as a shooter, with similar athletism with attacking the hoop.  GRIII was an athletic freak who could finish at the rim, and Mitch McGary had come into his own as an athletic center who could finish at the rim with a few different moves, and could lead a fast break.  Morgan was starting center and killer at the high pick and roll with Burke as a change up from McGary, and Horford and Beilfeltd could come in to support from the bench. They handled the VCU full court press with ease, broke down Syracuses 2-3 zone defense, and took down Kansas in a crazy comeback, which is probably a better team than Louisville.  That team was just fun to watch.

At least State ran into a…

At least State ran into a similar situation when they played North Carolina in I think 2009.  No team was going to beat NC that year, so glad that State and Izzo didn't get another one.

That team should have won…

That team should have won that game.  They had the talent to beat Louisville.  There were a lot of questionable calls in this game, that being the worst. I don't think many teams were going to beat the Villanova team (if we had DJ back then I think it would have been a possibility to help cover all positions).  That Louisville game still hurts.  One of the best runs through the tournament I've seen.

I love hearing about old people and their 4 channels.  Glad I grew up with 5.

I don't know why he hates…

I don't know why he hates key fobs, but I hate the panic button.  It only serves to go off when I am leaning on something trying to put stuff in my car and my hands are full and then I'm trying to rush to get it off.

As a worker at Starbucks for…

As a worker at Starbucks for college (I mostly worked the coffee bar, but we split tips on shifts with the register cashier), I did NOT expect tips on a $4 latte drink.  I was payed $7 something an hour, which was fine.  I usually got around $1 an hour extra from tips, and that was great.  I should not need to add $2 to $10 every transaction.

We can still Shit on Ohioans…

We can still Shit on Ohioans who Root for Ohio State and Shit in Coolers though right?

I get annoyed by people…

I get annoyed by people walking in the street.  I live in a small town with city streets and nice sidewalks, and constantly have to avoid people walking 3 wide with cars parked on the street and "runners" who need to run in the street.  I get charged hundreds of dollars to fix each cement sidewalk square.  Use them!

I'd say these are probably…

I'd say these are probably most people's issues with trucks these days:

- Bright lights. I am blinded by everyone's lights now days, but trucks being higher usually hit eye level far more often and seem to have the brightest of the bright lights.

- Lack of vision: Trucks are so massive that they can't see most kids or even many people and small cars in front of them, making them dangerous to others

- When they back up into a spot over grass fine, over a sidewalk with large hitch on back, shrink sidewalk and kill shins

- Most don't use the bed for more than groceries or kids sports equipment so really not necessary

(I'm fine with people liking trucks.  I admit they are nice to drive down the highway with the elevated position and long wheel base) but they don't appeal to me.  I have 4 kids so need a 3 row vehicle (I have a Explorer sport which is mostly practical but less practical than a minivan, but I picked it for looks and a slight loss in practicality). I also like sports cars, which are mostly very impractical.  Cars are expensive so you should enjoy it.

Backing trucks into spots is…

Backing trucks into spots is most of the time the best option.  Easier to get them between the lines and can hang the back of the bed over some grass to not stick out into the lane.

It's the people who back into spots that infringe on the sidewalk (especially with the stupid Hitch adding an extra foot for people to bang their leg into, that bother me.  Same people who need help in handy cap spots usually need that same sidewalk space too.

Expanding on the left lane driving are the people who drive under the speed limit in the left lane or in the only single lane, that speed up when people have a chance to get around them.  Go slow go fast, just let me do my thing.

Those things really Chock my Guff!

I bagged groceries my senior…

I bagged groceries my senior year in high school.  Pay wasn't great, but I liked organizing the foods into the bags (paper bags were great, I would stack them in and try to keep like things with like items, so cold with cold, and pantry with pantry and tried beating the cashier, then enjoyed a walk out to the car to put their groceries in the car.  Have a nice talk and get outside.

Unfortunately I wasn't getting 40 hours, so I had to work 35 there in the afternoon, and 35 hours at a moving company. And then at the grocery store, I was a hard worker, so I was rewarded with being put on bottle return, where I'd have to keep the machines upfront from jamming and empty them, and then go in back and sort beer glass bottles by manufacturer. That job sucked. It smelled horrible, and you were constantly busy with machines jamming, and dragging gross bags across the store to the back and the worst, sorting old beer bottles.

Decided I should just work full time at moving company making $2 more an hour, since I knew that they could use me the rest of the summer.

Should have learned then. Hard work can often times be rewarded with more hard work.  The working world is not fair, and you will not always be rewarded for just working hard.

Agreed. Mullings is great at…

Agreed. Mullings is great at moving the chains with his strength, speed, and vision.  Maybe not a break a ton of long ones type, but running 3-10 yards is plenty enough to create a championship offense.  I think he will be used more than Edwards to keep defenses focused on running while the QBs get comfortable.  Edwards will be a good addition to that with explosive speed and outlet catching dump off passes.  Should be fun.

I thought Buenos Aries was…

I thought Buenos Aries was destroyed in a bug attack in 98?

It still cracks me up that…

It still cracks me up that he got so emotional and called out Lou Holtz, the Lou Holtz that was old 20 years ago, to claim how tough his team is, after taking multiple tries to get in the endzone, with the final try working when ND only had 10 men on the field (LOL at ND). The play that he defined as proving his team was tough, was shown to be as much because the other team was ridiculously stupid as anything.

I've bought most of my power…

I've bought most of my power tools from Lowes and Home Depot. Am I Charmin Soft? didn't know this was a thing.

Yeah, Jim talks all the time…

Yeah, Jim talks all the time about talking to his dad and brother and about how great his dad is at giving advice on football. And his brother has helped provide multiple great coaches.

Jim will gladly say that growing up around Michigan football, and Bo was a huge help to his success. But he didn't just use that to get into coaching.  He made Stanford a power in football.  Took a flailing 49ers team to the superbowl and NFC championship multiple years in a row.  Brought Michigan their first National Championship in over 25 years, while going to the playoff 3 years in a row, and beating OSU three years in a row.

Jim was certainly born on one of the bases to get into coaching, but all those teams above were him starting at Home and having to get hits and runs and steals all on his own. Day has maintained OSU's dominance over the rest of the BIG, but has not shown he can build or take the program to the Championship.

Harbaugh is Paul Walker in…

Harbaugh is Paul Walker in his suped up Supra, beating the guy in the Ferarri in the first movie. One Built his car to go fast, the other bought his car to go fast.  One is willing to make the daring moves to win. The other is more concerned with his image (and his dyed beard).

I have a Mazdaspeed 3 that…

I have a Mazdaspeed 3 that is my "sports car".  It at one time could go 155 mph (maybe still can), which I've never come close to. I've had a ton of fun getting it up to speed, and it is super light compared to our other cars (3200 lbs). It also can hold all 4 of my kids with stuff.

Cars that go 190 vs 200, is silly to me, because I don't have the skill or the balls or the money to enjoy them at that type of speed.  That's why so many people love miatas.  Drive them to the edge all day.

So cool.  Which color did…

So cool.  Which color did you get?  I love them in all colors, but Dark Navy Blue and White look great on both.  Hard choice between the large 5 spoke rims and 10 spoke rims.  The 4s would be my second choice. A great car to drive.

Also, did you get the manual or the automatic?  I love a manual transmission.  Our explorer has the paddle shifters but it's not something I really would think i'd use.

I hope they survive. …

I hope they survive.  Getting those vehicles to market that quickly is really impressive.  They beat Ford, Chevy, and other startups like lordstown to market with the first electric truck, and also the first real electric SUV.

Just like Tesla, they are disrupting the US market, which is good, because the Chinese market is going to be coming on fast (I have serious doubts about a lot of what the Chinese do based on my working with them and many travels.  Their culture has a lot of issues that could hold them back with quality and innovation), but the big 3 need to change and Rivian and Tesla are pushing that.  They are showing that you can build cool, fun, useful electric vehicles.  It'd be a shame if they can't get over the hump, because the R2 and R3 look like amazing compliments to the lineup.

I think they are wonderful…

I think they are wonderful vehicles. My range anxiety only stems from the fact that this would take over as the family vehicle to get us places.  We go to Traverse City from Metro detroit area multiple times a year in both the winter and summer for vacations and for kids sports.  I prefer to make the trip with no stops, or one quick stop when possible.  We are looking to have a car in case our explorer starts having mechanical trouble (8 years, and no issues right now, but I know once I hit 100,000 miles and 10 years, the costs and breakdown issues can start up).

I think our vehicle after the next one will definitely be an electric.  I've been in the battery industry for 2 decades, so am excited to see it grow and take off.

So cool to hear people love…

So cool to hear people love the Rivian.  The RS1 would be the electric vehicle for us with 4 kids if we had the money.  Looking at a Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid as our next vehicle. Carries 8 and gets great gas mileage with good power.

I've seen amazing videos of the Rivian doing crazy trail climbs that fully redone 4x4 vehicles won't try, and then go race a sports car in a drag and win that.  Truly amazing vehicles.

With the lotto being what it…

With the lotto being what it is, I love to think of what car(s) I'd buy.  Top of my list would be a Porsche Targa 4s. I have always loved porsches (356, the 80's targas with the whale tails).  I justify that it would be fun and practical, as it has AWD for winter driving, and jump seats in the back to hold luggage for a weekend trip with the wife, or kids to some of their sports.

Other Cars I'd want:

Baja Bug (this car I will have eventually even without the lotto)

2006-08 Austin Martin Vantage (one of the prettiest cars ever to me)

2005 Ford GT (Perfect retro car to the original)

356C Roadster (grandparents had one back in the day)

150 Jaguar Roadster (other grandparents had one back in the day)

(AWD) Corvette Eray (Never been a corvette guy, but this car is just crazy cool)

(AWD) Rivian RS1

As you can see, I'd probably go a little crazy on cars if I had unlimited money, but that's my list... so far.

There are ~32 5 star…

There are ~32 5 star recruits each year.  I'd assume very few 5 star recruits make it to 5th year, so let's assume 32x4 = 128 5 Stars available to 128 teams (or 60 teams that are actually going to get them).  There were 2 Alabama teams with 21 5 stars, or 16% of the top recruits from available.  That is insane levels of talent hoarding.

I had no idea his Michigan…

I had no idea his Michigan Legacy was in question.  He was the main architect in recruiting the Fab 5.  They had their style, and uniqueness that was a huge influence to our culture.  They made it to back to back NCAA finals (Belien's teams made it to 2 too), and were a bad possession away from winning the second one, after getting beat by a very veteran, very talented Duke the year before.

As Alum, Webber, Howard, and Rose, all had stellar playing careers in the NBA and always came across as great people who gave back (especially Howard) to the communities.  Webb and Rose were great as personalities in the media (I love watching C-Webb on old open court episodes) and Howard came to back to Michigan and loved it, bringing his kids here to experience Michigan with him.

He had 3 good years, and 2 bad years.  The coaching incidents where he lost his temper are bad looks, and I think helped in the decision to let him go, along with the bad recruiting, and bad two seasons. But Michigan is not under sanctions, and not tarnished.  Left as a Michigan Man with an amazing message out.

Two years of under performing coaching would never come close to defining who he is, what he has done for the University, and how he is as a Michigan Man.

What about a small empty one?

Still bummed it didn't work…

Still bummed it didn't work out for him.  Still a big fan of himself and the other Fab 5 members. Jalen, Juwan, and Chris all were amazing players in college, and in the pros, and have had great success as analysts, and until the last 2 years, as a coach (also as community leaders for the youth).

Class acts, that I am proud went to UofM. Hope they all are celebrated by the University and the community for a long time for their contributions as students and as Alum.

I didn't collect a lot of baseball / football cards, but I collected Bo Jackson cards.  Was so bummed when he got hurt.  I don't know what happened to them.  I have a suspicion my brother took them.

Nebraska-Omaha would not have been my guess. Nice stat.

I'll have to read it.  One…

I'll have to read it.  One of my good friends was obsessed with it in high school.  I watched the original movie and I think that lost me some interest.  not the books fault.

My favorite book has always been "Ender's Game"  There are more books in the series that are also interesting, but have a different feel.  The movie also did not represent the book well, although I think thye did a good job with a lot of the cast.  Ender needed to be younger.

First game as a student at UofM. I watched Michigan lose to ND at Crisler the week before. Overall, it was a good season after that, but that was the start of Michigan vs Mobile (elusive) QBs.

Excellent comparison. …

Excellent comparison.  Totally missed this one. Should have read one more comment down.

I thought his Michigan comp…

I thought his Michigan comp was Devin Gardner.  Similar sizes, smart, humble, and good leaders who both had arm strength and could scramble to create.  Gardner had more opportunities to throw and run, but then had no middle of line and horrible play calling that killed his career.

I don't watch enough NFL to know anyone he comps well with.  He's bigger and has a stronger arm than Breese, but Breese was a great leader and could scramble to create passing lanes. If he plays anywhere near Breese, that would be good.

Honestly, each QB has their own style.  Even the current crop of great QBs win in their own way.  Its such a small pool to choose from to get a true comp, especially with the way the game is played now vs 15-20 years ago.

Agree in theory, but in…

Agree in theory, but in reality, they are very different to me.  Beilein was targeting a lot of under the radar players and built them into champions and NBA players.  I think he was tied for first, or second overall with getting his kids to the NBA. I think it was hard for him not knowing how many kids he would need, since he was so good at getting kids to the NBA, and got frustrated by some earlier than expected departures.

Saban consistently had the number one recruiting classes, due to talent and oversigning, where he pushed players to grey shirt, or take a medical exemption, or just push them out. similar, but very different to me.

I remember the term "Grey…

I remember the term "Grey Shirt" where he brought too many kids on, and kids had to sit for the fall and hope they made it in the spring, but couldn't go anywhere else.

He oversigned, and booted kids that weren't performing and Alabama paid to get those top classes.

He still is a hell of a coach to do what he did, but it is clear that his frustration lies in the fact that players have some power back and other programs can even the playing field with NIL.

MSU had the rep back then. …

MSU had the rep back then.  I remember working my ass off and barely passing Chem 130, and my MSU friends partying all the time and acing their classes.  It was definitely a difference.  Michigan students put an emphasis on school. (even my friends and roommates who all were way smarter than me, still studied a lot).

I thought MSU admissions had changed.  I had heard that it was much harder to get in these days, so was thinking the culture may have shifted. It's a ways off, so not something I have to worry about, but they need a change.

Disappointed to hear that. I…

Disappointed to hear that. I only applied to MSU and Michigan from high school, and was lucky enough to get into both (obviously going to Michigan with a strong push from my parents).

My kids are young, but I am really worried that 30 years later, the bar to get into Michigan will be so high, it may not be a possibility (I don't think I could get in today). I was hoping that MSU would be a strong instate back up with other school options.

Great article. I don't think…

Great article. I don't think he is weird. I think he lives what he believes. He thinks it is a privilege to get to run after practice to get better.  Winners get a chance to get better.  He believed Shea was "Shea Fucking Patterson." And because he really believed it, Shea believed it.  He runs the hill showing he will never ask you something he won't do.  Same with the workouts.

He's a good guy, and a good football coach, because he completely buys in, and it's hard for players, coaches, and team support to not follow that leadership. I'll be rooting for him in the NFL.

The RB does a little 1st…

The RB does a little 1st down show off with his teammates.  He has no idea that Michigan fans are going to watch this over and over for a Michigan player making him look bad.

I demand a comparison with…

I demand a comparison with another Michigan Man. I want it run with the Rich Eisen 40 yard dash.

1. Casino Royale. I remember…

1. Casino Royale. I remember thinking that it was going to be tough to replace Bronson, but what a job. The action was great.  M and Bond had great chemistry. Just a great introduction to a new bond.

2. Spiderman: He is a fan favorite for a reason.  He has amazing villains to go against. Most have personal issues and good back stories.  Spiderman has cool super powers, but I love how being a hero hurts his personal life, and he has so many issues.  The spider verse is done super well and allows new unique spiderman stories. (Flash and Gambit as a kid were also awesome).

2b. Casey Jones (TMNT): I was a huge TMNT fan as a kid, and still think they are great. I love looking at Casey Jones though as a Vigilante. He has no powers, no training, just a hockey player fighting crime with a golf bag full of sports equipment. Can't get more badass than that.

3. Doc Oc: Joker is a classic.  I love his chaotic nature as a villain, and was probably done as good as any in Dark Knight, but Doc Oc is great.  Super powerful with his arms. But nerdy and a scientist, so a smart villain.

4. False. No!
