What exactly did he do? It seems like no-one wants to be specific. Do people think it's like a contagious disease and if they actually explain to those of us who don't use social media it will somehow make them guilty too?

Part of the issue is that he deleted and unliked over 2000 tweets in the past few days but they included things like comparing several black politicians to African tribesmen, explicitly anti-trans posts, defenses of January 6th, and some rather poorly worded attempts at citing Thomas Sowell as an argument that welfare makes Black people lazy

My take as a retired chemical engineer and UM grad (and a centrist in case you care about my politics, which most here don't care about).

1. It's simply inconceivable that UM didn't thoroughly review his posts and likes. I don't think they did. I discount the belief that UM Admin saw his posts and decided to weather the storm until they couldn't. This is NOT on Jimbo but on the increasingly more incompetent Warde.

2. Bo is DEAD. If you hate him for the Anderson event, what about the 800 athletes that came forward (and 95+ percent were not FB players)??? Sorry Bo ain't God but I've named a cat after him and consider him a great person, with flaws, as we all have.

3, Shemy was an IDIOT to even like or tweet any post while being an NFL scout. So STUPID! I realized early in my career (1990s) that NEVER EVER say or write anything that can be used against you later.

4. This will burn itself out in 2-3 days. Who cares what he liked or tweeted. A guy in his 50s needs to know the world and the rules.

5. GO BLUE, so glad I can have coffee on the porch every morn and toss peanuts to the squirrels.

Not on Jim?? Hahaha. I don’t think Warde went to Jim and said “Hey buddy I got an idea on who to hire”

Everyone who has worked for people and places that hire someone in relation to an important person knows exactly how this went.

Maybe it works different in the chemist profession

Bo may be dead but the university remains committed to honoring him in metal and stone in spite of clear evidence that he turned a blind eye to things that ruined lives. Even one instance would be enough, in my view, to wipe the slate clean. And I say this as someone who cried when he found out Bo died, who did a book report on his autobiography in elementary school, and who once waited in line to shake his hand all despite never seeing him coach a game.

The unwillingness to reckon with Bo's cult of personality is deeply disturbing from a university ostensibly committed to restorative justice. Players we are currently recruiting never shared a planet with the man, his temporal presence is as far removed from current students as Fielding Yost was to the Baby Boomer alumni and boosters who demand we continue revering Schembechler. And until those demands cease, we will never fully eliminate these lapses in judgement and reason borne of that reverential disinclination toward critique

Some jackass also said that "I like classic rock" was acually a 'dog whistle' for racism.

when in fact..... I love rock and roll from the 60's and 70's.  I am not a racist, I have plenty of friends of various races.

Reading Ace's Twitter made me disklike both Shemy AND Ace even more. Even when Ace is right it's in the most self righteous possible way. Glad he left MgoBlog. l find his pontificating incredibly annoying and one sided. He seems like the kind of guy who has a hard time laughing or feeling joy because everything offends him and his hobby is seeking out new ways to become deeply offended and letting everyone know about it. It's clearly about showing off how moral you are to hide deep insecurities. The style of discourse he uses is highly unlikely to win over anyone who disagrees with him. So what is the intent? It can only be to call attention to yourself or signal to those who will eagerly validate you.  You're not some moral hero Ace. Your just current. If you were born in the 1920s or earlier you'd be racist and sexist and homophobic. We all would be by today's standards. You might like to think would've be ahead of the times back then. You wouldn't have been. You would have dresssed and acted and thought and said all the same shit people thought back then thought and said. Just saying bad things are bad to people who already agree isn't heroic. You're not special because you have hindsight.  Have some fucking humility.  I get it, anger is way more satisfying. Unfortunately, you probably have to fight racism and assholery with empathy, understanding and love toward those that really don't deserve it (without broadcasting that's what you're doing for attention), not emotional Twitter rants.

All of you are mis reading Ace. He has to be this miserable to continue and try to make a living on being relevant in the world of Michigan sports/university. Congrats everyone has added to that even all of you hate him.

I'm glad this was handled quickly, but it's still pretty embarrassing that this even happened in the first place.

I gotta wonder, would this even have been a story if it wasn't for Ace on twitter making it one?

I know this site didn't seem to want to touch the story, probably because it seems at least one of the writers has had some previous interactions with Shemmy.

Ace has his faults no doubt, but some on here seem to take a lot of joy in taking shots at him which I don't really understand. He's easy enough to ignore if you don't care for him.

I don’t think Ace is the one who made this a story. I saw it from other people.
Either way though, it’s weird that schemy being a racist is making posters start to rip on Ace again.
like just let it go. It’s pretty easy to not read his tweets. I’ve seen a lot of discussion on this and haven’t seen anything Ace has said aside from those bringing him up here.

It’s good for Ace that he brought these ugly “likes” to light.  There may have been others that did it too, but I found out about them from his page.

That said, the guy needs to quit when he’s ahead.  He’s complaining now that Shemy was allowed to resign, that the wording of the statement wasn’t apologetic enough, and going after Sam Webb and Seth.

He got pissy at Sam Webb, the Mgoblog roundtable crew and often criticizes the MgoBlog people for not taking his sexual assault seriously which is absolutely insane. Seemed like Brian and Seth and everyone were extremely fair and supportive of Ace while he was here. He takes a lot of shots. You can sort of ignore him, but he comes up a lot here because he takes so many shots. He's very bitter.

What is mind boggling about this is he worked for the Raiders for the last four years. Did they not know about his social media posts/likes of other posts? Or did they not care?

The only reason this came to light was because he was hired by the school where his father was a legendary coach. If he had been hired by another NFL team or another college, this most likely would have remained undetected.

Makes one wonder how many other guys like this are working for NFL/NCAA teams.

it would have been nice to see Bo's son return but sadly it was not to be. what i want to know is if we vetted that guy how didn't you know about these likes he was doing

The wise approach would be to keep the Schembechler connection to the program in the past tense.

That was the fundamental problem here.

Brodie

I don't really see how you can separate the two. Would a program that didn't operate on a "NA NA NA NA I CAN'T HEAR YOU" fingers-in-ear mindset about Bo hire his son sight unseen without even so much as a cursory social media check? Shemy is a symptom of an athletic department where it's going to be 1989 forever

Feels like we are in deeply political territory, and I don't like that for MGoBlog. I was about to write a post about how I think we should be tolerant of people with different politics, including Shemy. But when I saw a few of those posts, I thought that goes beyond politics and reflects a problem beyond politics, and something that we cannot have. That said, I still have respect for people who have plenty of other good qualities, and don't think they should be tarred with a scarlet letter. But some of the crap he posted seems to really push the boundaries of what I tend to tolerate.

Onward. Why is everyfuckingthing so melodramaculous for Michigan ? Shit we can’t just have a nice off-season smug in our memories of back to back wins over Ohio. We have to litigate like the thirteenth rate version of the culture wars, with Bo offspring and everything. Honestly it’s just exhausting

I’m not sure how this guy even gets in the front door if he’s not related to who he’s related to. Which does not lend itself well to Harbaugh’s strict belief in meritocracy. This was a nepotism hire at its finest.

got to say, this is a pretty, embarrassing, self-inflicted, and, moreover, completely avoidable mishap that the Athletic Dept has once again submitted itself to. It’s not like this information was a state secret that few people knew about. Simple Google searches or reviews of his Twitter pages showed you really who he is.

Did you really want that guy recruiting for your football team? in particular, recruiting young African-American men so he can tell them how Jim Crow laws were a good thing? This was a bad idea from the start, and even if Harbaugh didn’t have any input, it’s still his program.

just not a good look for him or anyone involved with the A.D.
