Split M
To answer OPs question
It’s not a violation since they have a prior relationship
Of course, had they given the sign directly to the kid's father, it wpuld have been completely fine. Auburn and the Newtons can vouch for that.
With $200k taped to it.
Dave Brandon is pissed, his memo was very clear....no split Ms.
If it's from an alum and not the coaching staff is it still a violation?
The words gift and family who are alums (boosters?) stand out to me.
Are the Cullians boosters or just people who live down the street?
I thought you were joking, but you're dead serious. Even funnier.
I’m just asking for those who know the rules hence the question mark.
If the Cullians were previously family friends, it’s likely no big deal. If they randomly gifted a kid they don’t know, it’s likely something to investigate.
its also just a fucking sign that maybe cost a couple hundred bucks.
if they dont know him personally its fucking weird.
Are we really discussing this???
Fuck. The. NCAA.
Jeebus.
I mean, it's not like they embezzled money from their neighbourhood foundation and then gave it to the parent of this young man...
They gave him a legacy 'Split M' logo (thereby happily upsetting WD's foil Dave Brandon)
NCAA, where you can buy linemen or QB's but god help the kids if it's stretching or a neighbour's gift? Such bs
If they gifted a kid (randomly or not), I hope it would be investigated.
Takes away the spirit of being an alum. Christ. Cheating is everywhere and you want this investigated?
I guess it depends on to whom the kid is gifted.
I don't think anyone gave away a kid... Well, not in this case, anyway.
How about: they check with the compliance office, and if it is questionable they politely return the gift? It is that simple. No reason to go into an investigation, etc.
That said if it was diamond studded, and a gift to his mother or father: no harm no foul amirite?
I think you’re misinterpreting my phrasing. It was a joke.
So using that logic, they couldn't accept a hamburger from them if the family was invited over for a barbecue.
Or accept Christmas presents from them.
Yes they could, as long as they paid them back Tuesday.
Nobody actually knows what the NCAA rules are
if someone were serious, why would you broach the subject of a possible violation on Mgoblog?
Are you 14?
Mods...delete this?
Season ticket holders are considered boosters
http://www.ncaa.org/enforcement/role-boosters
depends on their roles as alums, as they can be considered boosters. In which case yes, the university is responsible for the actions of boosters.
Now while it may seem harmless, it isn’t up to us to decide that. At the very least, the coaching staff needs to self-report this to the compliance office and leave it for the NCAA to decide.
Note: odds are even if it is against the rules, the severity of the transgression wouldn’t result in any real penalties
My god man. Did you just need to pump up your point total here? I thought this was going to be an actual issue.
He's going to need a bunch of alternate accounts for that.
He wanted attention. Thank God WD doesn’t know the things I do about the program. He might get us investigated for real.
You should definitely forward this to the Freep.
I've got Rosenberg from SI on line two.
Vlady, don't try and influence another investigation....
Michigan literally gives out hundreds of dollars of clothing, shoes, and other accessories to recruits, but this is what you choose to focus on?
But clearly that’s legal...this at least is intriguing to see what the BS NCAA has to say about it.
Nice sign! Would make a good hood ornament on my 1999 S-10 pickup
Shut the fuck up you narc I don't care if the Cullian family gave him a Bentley, don't post it. We don't need Narcs up in this bitch.
Lol amen
Narc? Are you Tubbs or Crocker?
His address is 21 Jump Street.
I honestly don't get this reference, I think you may be a bit older than me.
Miami Vice
*Crockett
Crockett. It's Crockett. Not Crocker. Jesus.
I Betty didn't know it wasn't Crocker...
Agree, somethings you just don't post.
