When he first started on…

When he first started on MLive taking over the wolverine football reporting, he would not waste a chance to take a dig at Michigan in the comments section or his opinion articles. It was bad. He was very raw in those early years and brought a lot of unprofessional behavior into his opinions and writing. After getting called out multiple times for these digs, he cleaned it up a lot. As the years passed, his writing and analysis improved, and he became probably the best source besides the mgoblog staff for Michigan football content or football talk in general. I haven't read his articles since he left MLive; I wouldn't be surprised if he is still taking digs at Michigan though, just based on his past.

He's announcing this Wednesday at noon. Go Blue!

I'm watching it right now,…

I'm watching it right now, and although there was a lot of ball movement in the first, in the 2nd it was mostly one or two passes (if that) and then a shot mostly from long range/ isolation drive to the basket. There's not a lot of plays being run, which is disappointing. Athletic ability alone isn't going to cut it. France punished them inside with their bigs in the 2nd on developed sets/plays/rebounds/defense. I didn't know they lost until I came on here a several minutes ago. I'm honestly not surprised from what I saw. It's halftime on this replay and I'll be turning it off now lol.

The Offspring--Pretty Fly …

The Offspring--Pretty Fly (for a white guy)

It's just one of the worst songs ever made, from a band that could have done so much better.

Phil Jackson? K.C. Jones?

Phil Jackson? K.C. Jones?

Although Magic Johnson…

Although Magic Johnson denies it now, he had a hand it too. It stems from a rumor of Isiah questioning Magic's sexuality in relation to his HIV diagnosis. This is an old article from 2009. I believe both have made up and are friends again, but this was a very bad time for their friendship. It's a long article but it's very good.

(1): Deep fried batter…

(1): Deep fried batter dipped Cod fish with french fries (will use beer next time with fish)

(2): BBQ ribs via the slow cooker with corn and buttermilk biscuits. Never made ribs before, but real easy and super good.

(3): Slow cooked turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy. Side of mixed veggies.

(4): Egg muffin sandwich w/ cheese and sausage patty. I've become good at cooking the sausage patties without burning them to hell. This is way better than anything I have eaten at fast food restaurants.

The above were all pretty damn good lol

(5) Worst: Overcooked chocolate chip cookies. Dipping them in milk helped soften them, but my stomach still paid the price.

All in all, my culinary skills have improved significantly during this pandemic. Recipe apps and books have been super helpful. Happy eating everyone ?

I read an article in the 5-2…

I read an article in the 5-2-2020 issue of The Economist that is complimentary to the economic point he made about Sweden, although it lacks stats. It's interesting nonetheless. Here is a paragraph from the piece titled Not All Quite There: "Some indication that the spending effects of a lockdown will persist even after it is over comes from Sweden. Research by Niels Johanssen of Copenhagen University and colleagues finds that aggregate-spend-ing patterns in Sweden and Denmark over the past months look similarly reduced, even though Denmark has had a pretty strict lockdown while official Swedish pro-visions have been exceptionally relaxed. This suggests that personal choice, rather than government policy, is the biggest fac-tor behind the drop. And personal choices may be harder to reverse."

Lakers versus Celtics and…

Lakers versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs was the shit before NBA Jam came out. It came out on the PC first before it went to the Genesis. I'm kind of surprised to not see it listed. I know I'm not alone with this game. EA sports outdid themselves with this game and set the standard of basketball gaming to come.

Where is Tony Kukoc in that…

Where is Tony Kukoc in that picture? He was a terrific passer in the triangle offense, and could light it up in scoring on any given night. And, he was also a great ball handler that could bring the ball up the court when Pippen was getting hounded. And speaking of Pippen, Kukoc was the dude that hit the game winning shot against New York in the playoffs after Pippen refused to go back in. Kukoc was an important piece to those final three championships. All that I'm saying is that he should be in that promo pic too.

Good article on Pippen sitting down: https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/bulls/ct-spt-bulls-scottie-pippen-1994-playoffs-sits-20190513-story.html

Money is the great equalizer…

Money is the great equalizer. The job is a gamble for sure because it will take the luster off of his coaching abilities if he stumbles and crumbles. But...what if he just absolutely owns it in East Lansing? Then he's position for coaching the big boy programs with an even bigger pay day. If he doesn't do too well, then the money that MSU will give him will soften that blow. Plus, he can go back to coaching a smaller program or being a coaching assistant again (see Hoke who seems to have made a good living after Michigan). I think Fickell is confident in his abilities and sees the window of opportunity for bigger things. I don't think it's his best move either, but money can always convince people to do things that isn't in their best interest lol.

Yeah, I think it's been…

Yeah, I think it's been Fickell for several days now. When a few of the coaches started saying no to MSU, I figured someone said yes (and I figured it to be Fickell). MSU said that they would have a coach in place by early this week, which makes me think they already had an unofficial deal made with Fickell. Sunday night's "interview" was probably the inking of the contract. Unless something crazy happened last night, I expect Fickell to be their next coach and it will be announced either today or Tuesday/Wednesday.  I think today. We'll see.

MSU hired a search firm to replace Dantonio. I guess the guy that runs the firm is known for sending decoy planes everywhere to throw fans and the press off of their scent. See the links below for more info.

Payne Stewart was heart breaking. He was my favorite golfer.

I think it's just important…

I think it's just important to get them to visit no matter what. Some guys you may never have another chance to get them on campus. And the campus does sell itself besides the football program. If we get beat, we get beat. The recruits are going to know if we got beat whether or not they visit. You take a visit from a recruit any way you can get it, and sell the loss as others have said above. Let's hope for a victory though. Go Blue!!!

It's cool. I'm going to…

It's cool. I'm going to watch it again ?

Yeah, until that happened,…

Yeah, until that happened, nobody in the league looked like they could stop the Pacers. They were balanced on offense and defense. And they had a deep bench. They had that swagger of an NBA Championship team.

I had a feeling something…

I had a feeling something was going to go down. Artest broke Jordan's ribs in a practice several years earlier on a hard foul. Word was he was unstable so Chicago sent him packing.

And Artest was talking shit late in the Detroit game. Dennis Rodman post-Detroit came to mind. There was some chirping and a hard fouls in the 4th quarter from both teams. I was waiting for some fireworks. I didn't know it was going to be a nuclear explosion.

They looked like they were…

They looked like they were on the way to win the title that year. They were built to beat Detroit and San Antonio and were crushing Detroit at home. Ben Wallace saved the season that night lol.

Should we have a moment of…

Should we have a moment of silence for little brother as well? ☺️

I do remember when he first…

I do remember when he first started out on MLive, that he would take some veiled shots at Michigan (especially in the comment section). At the time, I think being a recent graduate of MSU had a lot to do with it. However, he has grown way past that and writes probably the best analysis/opinions of Michigan football around imo.

Good ol' Hoke didn't want QB…

Good ol' Hoke didn't want QB recruits to feel threatened by another QB recruit and walk, so he took only one. In fact, didn't he neglect to take a QB during one of his recruiting classes?

Agreed. Shane Morris had arm…

Agreed. Shane Morris had arm strength galore, but that didn't matter much when he was on the field making split second decisions. The positive things said about McCaffrey coming out of high school was his poise, ability to run ANY offense, and his decision making. I will take those positives over having a Shane Morris type arm. And McCaffrey's arm strength coming out of high school wasn't bad either. He was throwing deep ball touchdowns to Ambry Thomas at The Opening a few years ago if that says anything (Ambry filled in at receiver for an injured Nico Collins).

He has really good body…

He has really good body control on those layups, great passing instincts, and awesome ball handling skills and footwork. I just love his film. Hope we can land him.

He wasn't the same player…

He wasn't the same player anymore following that Achilles tear, which showed in the Finals. He had moments where he shined, but he didn't have the speed or jumping ability anymore that made him a versatile big. This knee injury will likely take away more of what little athletic ability he has left and also add the reputation that he can't stay healthy. If he's lucky, he will be at the end of some team's bench beyond this upcoming season. It's sad because he was once on of the best big men in the league.

I saw the gorilla…

I saw the gorilla. Unfortunately, I only counted 14 passes. I think the damn gorilla made me miss a pass.

I thought the Lord of the…

I thought the Lord of the Rings movies weren't good (and yes, I read the books too). It just felt like the movies should have been longer. It was like they were given an allotted time and they just packed as much shit into it as possible lol. I didn't like that.

I absolutely loved The Hobbit, but haven't watched the movie yet.

The Harry Potter movies weren't bad, but you should definitely read the books to better understand them.

Same. I read the book, which…

Same. I read the book, which was simply awesome.

As for the movie, I just haven't gotten around to it. And I don't know if I'll ever get around to it seeing that it is nearly 4 hours long.

Favorite memories:

*Going to Michael Jordan's second game back (from his first retirement). He dropped like 27 points if I remember correctly. Most were jump shots, but the crowd was cheering for him. I'm not gonna lie, I was cheering too.

*Watching Iverson abuse the Pistons in 1999. I remember Jon Crotty literally falling down one of the most beautiful cross overs I've ever seen. Iverson just blew by him and scored. Crotty was traded not that long after that.

*Watching Prince in concert with The Time opening. It was probably the best concert I have ever been to and I have seen a lot of shows.

*Puddle of Mudd opening for Korn. They sound AMAZING live, and I think they performed better than Korn that day. The album version doesn't live up to their live performance.

*Watching from home when Deeeetrrroiit Baaasssketbaaalll destroyed the Lakers in 2004.

I agree with everything you…

I agree with everything you said. Good post.

They will contend. I don't…

They will contend. I don't know if they will win it all, but they definitely will make some noise. The big three in Miami needed another year to fill out their roster to win it all, but they made some noise year one. The Lakers might need another off-season too. It worked with Boston's big three because they had a marvelous bench to start with. I suppose that we have to see how the Laker roster shakes out first but there is no denying they are building a beast.

Side note: There is a rumor that Kyrie wants to play with AD, and that he and LeBron have patched things up. If he somehow ends up in L.A., look out.

All these super teams draw…

All these super teams draw aging star veterans that want to win it all before they hang up their shoes. They play for the veteran minimum and fill out the roster rather nicely. I don't know who's available right now, but it usually works itself out. LeBron is a good recruiter as well. The Lakers are building a beast right now.

I thought Hoffa was turned into hot dogs. It's good to know he's still alive.

However, if you live in Cleveland, are you really alive? ?

I think the Raptors take…

I think the Raptors take this tonight. They just look balanced everywhere on the floor and they don't looked rattled at all. They look like they know they can handle the Warriors. I have been massively wrong this entire post season, but I think it ends tonight with or without Durant.
