Playoff Chaos Scenario Unlocked: Who ya got and does the committee have the guts to make the right call?

Submitted by ImRightYouKnow on December 2nd, 2023 at 11:39 PM

Michigan and Washington, automatic ins.

FSU, deserves to be in.

One last spot that the committee is dying to give to Bama, but they'd have to go against all previous precedents set regarding head to head wins and undefeated P5 teams mattering.

Does the committee have the guts to make the right call and stonewall their SEC crushes?

What it will be...

Michigan

Washington

Texas

Alabama

What it should be....

Michigan

Washington

Florida State

Texas  (I'm okay switching FSU/TX here since they both still get in)

FSU just beat a top-15 team by two scores with their third string QB, and this is supposed to be a knock AGAINST them? Wtf are people talking about? Leaving FSU out would be insane.

Anything other than Michigan #1, Wash #2, Texas #3, and FSU #4 is wrong.

I call it the invisible Louisville Cardinal team

They were invisible when they beat the media darlings Notre Dames ass.

They were invisible once again when FSU beat them and gave and undefeated champ a quality win.

Amazing how they were invisible in both games at both times.

Michigan #1, Washington #2, Texas #3, Bama #4. I can't keep FSU in, they have no resume. I'm guessing Michigan wins twice, because I'm a total biased homer, and I love every one of you. Go Blue.

Precisely, they played nobody. All season long fans have stood in line to say Georgia deserves to be #1 because a completely different Georgia team did things in completely different seasons. That has now come home to roost. Bama beat Georgia, and by the flawed logic of insisting, at every turn, that Georgia was the best, not based at all on this seasons performance, Bama gets in by beating them.

If Notre dame beat Louisville it wouldve been the win of the century. Louisville crushed ND so it was of no importance. FSU beating Louisville  today was also of no importance. It’s to the point that these games really dont matter.

Your SEC winner is on mulligan status. FSU needs to do better than undefeated. That is the message i am getting.

I think they’re gonna screw over Texas. It’ll be:

Mich

Wash

Alabama

FSU

(or swap FSU and Bama if the committee feels like they want to screw over Michigan as scandal retribution)

Conference champions with the best records:

  • Michigan
  • Washington
  • FSU
  • Texas

But the whole point of the committee is to make sure they can override on field performance, so I wholly expect them to screw over Texas or FSU in favor of ‘Bama.

#1 UM has zero losses

#2 UW has zero losses

THEE most important factor is NO LOSSES.

Now lets look at other power 5 teams that are in the same position as #1 and #2 then after that we can look at one loss teams.
#3 FSU

#4 Head to head is here to settle it and settle it easily Texas

Anything else and you watch too much ESPN.

Because the committee has never been consistant in their states criteria when selecting teams, but they have always been consistant with the following:

  • SEC bias
  • Prioritize TV ratings

These idiots don’t seem to realize that the reason the NFL and the NCAA BB tournament are so popular is because formulas that guarantee teams a playoff spot regardless of the eye test or popularity or whatever is what gives fans hope. And when fans have hope they are engaged. If Patrick Mahomes gets injured on the last play of the regular season it has no bearing on their playoff spot. A division winner will get in the playoffs over a non-division winner with a better record.

The whole playoff committee thing boosts ESPN’s ratings for talking head shows while depressing the ratings for actual football games.

1. Michigan

2. Washington

3. Florida State

4. Texas

this is the right order. Maybe flip Michigan and Washington if you want. But Florida State deserves to be in as a 13-0 conference champion. Texas should be in over Bama on head to head.

They have to give it to FSU. To break precedent to squeeze Bama through would be disgusting. Don't care what Joel Klatt says. Michigan, Washington, Texas, FSU.

Not that I’m on the committee or anything but…

I think it should be:

1. Washington

2. Michigan

3. Florida State

4. Texas

What I think it will be is:

1. Michigan

2. Washington

3. Alabama

4. Georgia.
