Pep Hamilton on Shea: Can extend the play, make all the throws, plus other QB's
Peters has improved "taking command of the huddle, making faster better decisions." also briefly mentions Milton, DM. They haven't identified a leader at QB yet.

than we did in RR's first year, with Nick Sheridan and Steven Threet slinging it. That should put things in perspective.
You joined mgoblog in June of 2014, which I assume means you were aware of Michigan football on September 27, 2014. And you "can't imagine anything worse" than the 2017 season? This might be one instance in which the word "inconceivable" DOES mean what I think it means.

It's probably pointless to try to be logical in this conversation, but let's just assume that passing was the same as last year, and the defense sucked. That would be worse. If you mean one specific aspect of the game is as bad as you think it can be, then that might be worth a discussion. When the team wins most of its games, no matter what asterisks you want to assign to those wins, it could absolutely have been worse. Those wins could have been losses.

It almost sounds as if you think football is a team sport and an effective passing game relies on more than just qb play. Things like receivers ability to get open, pass blocking, play calling... Sorry, that just doesn't fit some people's narratives.
Maybe so, but I think the improvement in WR play will be much larger than that at QB. Our WR were bad last year. Looking forward to getting Black again, watching All or Nothing can't help wondering what would have been had he not broken his foot.
cost us 2, maybe even 3 games last year. If we had even solid QB play last season, we wouldn't be talking nearly as negatively about the way the season went. Yes, the OL needs to improve. But the QB had more than enough time on many plays last season and still made bad throws. If we fix that this year, Michigan will have a good year.
I think they are planning on hearing from the NCAA about that sometime in the next week or so, based on umbig11's comment above.
You can't see it because they changed the settings to where you need 10,000 points to view umbig11 posts. Sorry, bud.
I had no idea such was the case. This was probaby announced and I didn't see the post. I believe I would have made consistent donations to content if i had known such was the case. Well I'm certain we get the news a day or two late, but always nice getting insider right away.
Yep, when I scroll up 8 1/2 posts I can see them both.
and I'm going to verify if this is true and then start a thread about it

saw that post...how, exactly?

I hope you're right, but with all respect I think people in general need to stop internally comparing or believing Dylan is the same caliber athlete as Christian.
Dylan is still very young 19 and he's built like it. He needs to bulk up quite a bit IMO. I think Brandon would win the job if Shea's out.
I do not think any Michigan fan believes that Dylan can run a 4.48 forty or broad jump 121 inches.

is 6'5'' 190 lbs christian is 5'11'' 205 they r not the same type of athletes, i think dylan is similar to BP as far as athletic ability but dylan has just a bit more quick twitch in his foot work and more oft to scramble or run.
I would be bothered if McCaffrey beat out Peters because it would likely mean Peters got worse moreso than McCaffrey suddenly made a huge leap forward. I'd love to be proven wrong, but last year we kept hearing about how great Peters was in the offseason and then he was pretty clearly behind Speight and (less so) O'Korn during games.
I'm all for wunderkind players, but at QB I tend to like to see a natural progression of guys getting better over their years, not regressing and getting passed by guys with less exposure to the system.

Peters played as well as Speight last year at times, but he was also not asked to do nearly as much. By the time they were on their third QB of the season, the offense had become so limited passing the ball (and they had a decent enough success running it) that to compare to the two players is unfair to both. I mean, the most times they asked Peters to throw the ball before the bowl game was 18, and he averaged closer to 14 a game (and completed about 54% of them). Speight averaged 25 a game until he got hurt.

Should have been playing from game 1 he was behind because he couldnt yell loud enough it sounded like. and i think harbaugh favors upper classmen. speight should have been sat after back to back pick 6 against florida, harbaugh saying because they didnt practice against those coverages is bs. speight over threw guys horribly. i think beat msu and win bowl game so 10-3 if peters would have played from beginning of year. shit if peters wouldnt have got hurt probably could have beat wisco and osu with good games by qb. only game didnt have a chance was psu. okorn never should have saw field. he alone cost msu and osu games.
figure they will identify a leader as soon as the ncaa makes a decision on Patterson
I want to read something from these comments, but it's just a whole lotta nothing. Basically, everyone viable QB has shown he can play, and they are all lumped together at "good, but could be better". Which is great compared to, I don't know, still learning the offense and having accuracy issues. But i don't see this being pulbicly resolved until fall, maybe even during the OOC slate.
I also find it funny that Pep Hamilton, someone who a decent part of the fanbase wanted to see get canned over the offseason due to his "terrible" handling of the passing game, all of a sudden is treated as the guru who really gets the QB position. I always thought last year's passing issues were beyond his control (asking an passing coach to cycle through 3 pretty-distinct QBs in a year is impossible), and I'm excited to see what they'll do. But after watching some of the Amazon series, his public rehabilitation has been interesting to see as the biggest change is simply that he's still employed.
Everything coaches say in press conferences should be taken at face value as entirely straightforward and never coy.
As much as coach-speak can be called deception, yeah
(Arrived on Campus in August). Better than Cook, Barrett, beathard, and Hackenberg. My point is, starters in April may not mean much so it shouldn't bother us. It only took JD martinez a few months of offseason workouts and adjustments to go from being cut by a last place team to batting fifth on the most loaded lineup in the American league.

Just because they said there isn't one doesn't mean there isn't one behind closed doors.
I mean this is a coaching staff that refused to release its own depth charts until the week leading up to the season last year.
