This begs the question of…

This begs the question of why ANYONE would attend the draft in person.  Got to hand it to the NFL..they have done a fabulous job marketing the commissioner reading names every few minutes as a "gotta be there" event.

We'll be good with May, but…

We'll be good with May, but frankly, Beilein had us as competitive as we can hope to be in this day and age, without blatant cheating.  When you have to compete year-in, year-out against Duke, UConn, Kansas, UNC, Louisville, Arizona, Kentucky, etc. without a bagman, good luck!

The elite programs all cheat…

The elite programs all cheat.  Cheating has become the foundation that makes college basketball what it is, and nobody that matters has the balls to say so or do anything about it.  Not the NCAA and not the media.  Everybody whose business is college basketball knows who's dirty, but they all let it pass with a smile and wink.

We were incredibly lucky to have John Beilein, a guy who could compete at a high level with a relatively clean program, but these days, it's almost impossible to have both.

I would definitely get rid…

I would definitely get rid of field goals in overtime. This would eliminate the difference in risk on going for 4th down between the first team with the ball and the second, which is a significant and unfair advantage. Get rid of FG attempts and make both teams run plays until they either score a touchdown or get stopped on downs.  Make 2 point conversions mandatory on every TD too.  No extra points in OT

What, no answer?  I'm sure…

What, no answer?  I'm sure if you didn't know how many Big Ten Championships Steve Fisher won with what should have been overwhelmingly dominant talent, you could have looked it up.

Ask yourself why Steve Fisher never won a Big Ten Championship at Michigan.

"Steve Fisher was a…

"Steve Fisher was a phenomenal basketball coach"   Seriously?  Talk about dumb things to say.  How many Big Ten Championships did he win at Michigan with the Fab Five? Or anyone else?

Unfortunately, this is a…

Unfortunately, this is a Steve Fisher hire, made out of sentiment, because it would have seemed "mean" not to hire him after he filled in nicely.  Literally no one on this board seriously thinks that he's the best coach we could have gotten to fill Harbaugh's spot, though.  I hope he does well, but my head tells me he won't be up to head coaching at this level, and will be gone in 3-4 years.

When did the NCAA first…

When did the NCAA first interview Partridge, and when did he get fired? What’s the cover up?

People need to get a grip…

People need to get a grip. The only actual rule violation here is a low-level staffer with delusions of grandeur violating an obsolete rule that the NCAA almost scrapped 2 years ago. No one has been part of a “cover up” with regard to the NCAA investigation.

The last thing that people…

The last thing that people trying to damage Harbaugh and Michigan with this want is for the NCAA to actually file a Notice of Allegations, based on an actual investigation, actual facts, and actual rules, because that would show just how lame and low-level it really is, once you sweep away all the bullshit. They’d much rather let baseless internet smear campaigns do their work, for as long as possible.

Michigan should also be…

Michigan should also be emphasizing that P violated the Sportsmanship Policy, as it only permits punishment of the institution, or of the person or persons who actually committed an act deemed “unsportsmanlike”. Harbaugh is neither in this case. That where P pulls more sleight of hand, claiming (ridiculously) that the suspension of Harbaugh is not a direct punishment of Harbaugh, but only of the university.

Which is transparent…

Which is transparent bullshit. A sanction against the institution would be barring Michigan from the conference championship game. But Petiti doesn’t dare do anything like that, and he knows that he can’t punish Stallions, at least not in any way that would satisfy the Michigan haters who he’s caving to.

Well, they are. Under the…

Well, they are. Under the sportsmanship clause, the conference can only directly penalize the person who actually committed the offense or the institution. Harbaugh is neither. Petiti’s statement that this is actually a punishment of the institution is transparent bullshit to try to get around that. Suspending Harbaugh is a direct punishment of Harbaugh. Anything else is incidental.

We neutralized one of our…

We neutralized one of our opponent’s biggest strengths. They had no chance for sacks, which would have been a huge boost for them. And we took the crowd out of the game in the second half. If we had thrown the ball at our usual rate in the second half, we might have won by more, but we would also have given Penn State a better chance to win.

Yep..loved this part:

Yep..loved this part:

“Moreover, the Conference should act cautiously when setting precedent given the reality that in-person scouting, collusion among opponents, and other questionable practices may well be far more prevalent than believed.”

putting the Conference and the members who are trying to damage Harbaugh and Michigan on notice that we’ve got the goods on you and if you don’t stand down, we will unleash holy hell on you.

Michigan reached its ceiling…

Michigan reached its ceiling under Harbaugh last year. We won’t go any further until we have a coach who will really unleash the passing game. McCarthy’s passing numbers last year were the same good-to-very good but not great stats we’ve seen for decades. 22 td, 5 ints, 65% comp, 194 ypg, 8.4 ypa.  Those are not elite numbers in this day and age, and they are not the numbers of a NC level QB.

Either that or Iowa.

Either that or Iowa.

Unfortunately, that’s going…

Unfortunately, that’s going to be the way of things for the foreseeable future. Most players are going to be gone in one or two years, either to the NBA or the transfer portal. Only a very few tweeners will be good enough to get meaningful minutes for 3-4 years, but not good enough to move on. Pretty much every year, you’re starting from scratch. Team personality and continuity are things of the past.

Unfortunately, men’s…

Unfortunately, men’s basketball is going to be a major reboot pretty much every year going forward. Players who develop quickly (and even some who don’t) will be gone to the NBA after 2 years. Players who take longer or who just aren’t up to this level will mostly enter the portal. Not many guys will fall in between.

It's OK to just go ahead and…

It's OK to just go ahead and ask-why is Michigan still not attracting blue-chip recruits after two years of OSU beatdowns, Big Ten championships and playoff appearances?  You can keep trying to convince yourself that we don't really need them, or you can look at Will Johnson. You can pretend that every time you see a new recruit post pop up you don't feel a little meh when you scroll down and see that they're a typical 3.5 star type.  You can use all of the euphemisms like "trending up", "under the radar", "diamond in the rough", "great upside" that you want, but when you run down the list of top 250 recruits and see how bare Michigan's cupboard is compared to teams we're competing against, you can only make so many rationalizations.    https://n.rivals.com/prospect_rankings/rivals250/

I thought that was only…

I thought that was only allowed for Iowa basketball players.

Replay officials apparently…

Replay officials apparently need to have it re-emphasized constantly:You are NOT making the call. The call has already been made. Your ONLY job is to see if there is INDISPUTABLE video evidence that the call on the field was wrong and should be reversed. If you’re looking at clips 3, 4, 5 times trying to make up your mind, then the evidence clearly isn’t indisputable, and the call on the field should stand.

The Buckeye fan base is…

The Buckeye fan base is heavily MAGA, so this is 100% expected.  This is the same kind of language they use when they lose elections.  "We couldn't possibly have lost fair and square!  They cheated!!!!  Wahhhhhhhhhhh!"  Sore losers and crybabies.

What horseshit. The replay…

What horseshit. The replay ref is NOT supposed to make the call. He is ONLY supposed to decide if there is INDISPUTABLE visual evidence that the call on the field was wrong. If he has to look at the replay that many times, there clearly is NOT indisputable evidence.

They aren’t. Purdue has no…

They aren’t. Purdue has no more of a penchant for upsets than anyone else, and they certainly didn’t this year. Ignore that media attempt at a psych job. This will not be close

Bottom line, Michigan's…

Bottom line, Michigan's passing offense is not good enough to win a playoff-level game.  No way do you beat teams like OSU, Georgia, Tennessee going 13-27 with 150 yards through the air.

Came here to see "We don't…

Came here to see "We don't want to give away the playbook!" Volume 8

Horrible, HORRIBLE play!  No…

Horrible, HORRIBLE play!  No one in the end zone...not even an option for JJ to throw.  Why do they make is so f-ing easy for the defense?

Gawd...slow, plodding,…

Gawd...slow, plodding, predictable offense STILL! Has Harbaugh ever heard of throwing the ball into the end zone??

What's the over/under on…

What's the over/under on uncalled pass interference and offensive holding against State?

Yes, except Harbaugh refuses…

Yes, except Harbaugh refuses to use any of those resources on offense.  He plays a dink and dunk passing game that doesn't use the full talent of either our receivers or our QB, and he won't run an offense where McCarthy is a consistent threat to run that the defense always has to account for.  And it's very clear now that Harbaugh will never use  tempo as a weapon.

We already know what their…

We already know what their game plan on defense will be.  Stack the box with eight guys, dare us to throw, commit pass interference penalties on every play, knowing the refs won't even call half of them, and try to take out a key player or two with cheap shots and late dirty hits.

Except the reality was that…

Except the reality was that no one was going to actually rush for 400 yards against that Georgia defense, and to keep running and running and running trying to get there would not have changed things.  A game manager passing game was not going to win for us either. Not if we played them 20 times.

You still have to take into…

You still have to take into account that, to some extent, big rushing numbers are a consequence, not a cause, of being ahead, and that in some games, passing a lot is a response to being behind, rather than the cause of it.

The question remains, are…

The question remains, are you winning because you're rushing a lot, or rushing a lot because you're winning?

Don't need a thought…

Don't need a thought experiment.  Just look at how often the Alabamas and Georgias of the world get beat by teams passing for 145 yards, as opposed to teams throwing for 300-400 yards.  If we want to win playoff-level games (which Penn State most definitely was not), we have to at least be CAPABLE of putting up big passing numbers against a quality defense, and so far, we haven't shown that we are.

If you had watched that game…

If you had watched that game cold, without knowing anything about how the teams were ranked, you would still have said that Michigan was a top 10 team, talent-wise.  You would not have said that about Penn State.  Even when a team doesn't look good, you still see plays made by their top talent.  Penn State has no playmakers, on offense or defense.

We're clearly better than…

We're clearly better than Penn State, but even in a loss, a genuine top 10 team should show some talent, and Penn State showed none.  If you knew nothing about Penn State, who would you have picked out as top-notch playmakers from watching yesterday's game?

Everything I said was true…

Everything I said was true. Nothing you said was true.  Case closed.

Still stuck on a dink and…

Still stuck on a dink and dunk passing game that won't get it done against a playoff level team. And frankly, Penn State was clearly overrated at #10. Even against quality competition, top talent shows and Penn State has none.

The capacity for this board…

The capacity for this board to come up with rationalizations for running a conservative, vanilla offense when we have first-rate skill players is apparently endless.  Harbaugh absolutely refuses to use McCarthy and his receivers to their full potential, for some unknown reason.  And I've completely given up on us ever using tempo as a weapon.

Gonna be a shitty 4th…

Gonna be a shitty 4th quarter. Iowa will score and Harbaugh will run the ball on almost every down, playing not to lose.

And yet again…horrible,…

And yet again…horrible, horrible play calling and clock management in the last two minutes of the half. A Harbaugh trademark.

It's pretty much a given…

It's pretty much a given that Harbaugh will continue to underuse the passing game.  It's going to cost us at least 1 or 2 good receivers in the transfer portal.

The bar management shouldn't…

The bar management shouldn't even have to be told.  Based on the description, there's no way the bar staff didn't already know what was going on. If they didn't address that kind of behavior immediately, they were clearly just fine with it, and assumed the rest of their customers were too.

You won't change assholes…

You won't change assholes like that by confronting them directly. Tell the staff there that you're leaving and tell them why, since clearly the management is OK with that kind of behavior.  Post reviews of the place everywhere you can and describe exactly the kind of atmosphere that bar is OK with.

We have a QB who started…

We have a QB who started every game last year and went 12-2. Basically everyone else on offense has been around and played significant snaps last year. We’re not as good as Alabama, duh…but what exactly do we have that needs sorting out for 3-4 games?

Horrible clock management…

Horrible clock management and play calling in the last two minutes of the first half.  As always.  Harbaugh let 15 -20 seconds run off the clock before he called a timeout, instead of calling it right away.  Inexcusable and inexplicable.  No apparent grasp of using the sidelines to stop the clock. wtf?

The question is, why is…

The question is, why is Harbaugh ALWAYS “sorting out” his offense in the first game? Why are our QBs and passing game always a work in progress? Bryce Young had 6 TD passes yesterday.

Probably.  Harbaugh just…

Probably.  Harbaugh just doesn't have the balls to bench a guy with more experience in favor of a younger guy with more talent, so he's hoping the decision will be taken out of his hands...
