Pep Hamilton -- New Title? New Responsibilities

Submitted by ChalmersE on

Per Maize n Brew, he's now "Assistant Head Coach/Passing Game Cooridnator/Quaterbacks and Wide Receivers Coach".  That's how he's listed in the Atheletic Department Directory.

Shea is going to have 2,000 yards rushing after exploiting the defense's when Pep draws up those amazing 3rd and 15 Play Action plays while our WR's are running 40 yards down the field, and the defenders have their backs turned to him.

If Michigan simply had a Top 50 offense to compliment the defense this year, this team only loses to PSU.  If Michigan had a Top 25 QB two years ago, they go undefeated.  That's the thing with Harbaugh thus far, his inability to develope a compentent offensive line and QB. This is what Harbaugh is "known" for, and yet, we're all so underwhelmed with that aspect of the team.

Year 4 is crucial year for Harbaugh and his Offensive staff.  If we continue to have QB and O-Line problems, there's no real end in sight and I dont see how Harbaugh digs himself out of it.

Please let Shea be eligible!!!!!  We need nice things!!!

Defense made a mistake on the first play. And if memory serves me correct, we were down 0-14 when Hill/Long(?) picked off McSorley. With a drive there for a touchdown, so 70-80 yards, game is back to being competitive. I don’t think I truly thought the game was over until the start of the 4th.

Also, who was the last decent QB we had, excluding Denard, Gardner should have been, however was ruined/“broken”. This staff should be allotted time. McCafferey is the first QB recruit we’ve had that stands out like the Mallett’s and the [high school] Forcier’s, that I remember. I watched Gardner in person and fell into the “Vince Young” hype, however didn’t WOW like the Mallett and [Tate] Forcier tapes did to me, anyway.

I guess the answer to your question was Henne, and he was so underutilized.  Looking back at the Citrus Bowl against Florida and thinking to myself, "Where the heck was this offense all year?!?"

Peters was no slouch coming out of HS; solid 4*.  In all honesty, if Shea cannot play this year, we will see what kind of QB guru Harbaugh really is as Peters will be taking over the starting duties with 3 years in the system under his belt.  I think McCaffery will be better, but Peters has a year up and playing experience over him.

I feel the sense of urgency that many on this board feels.  While i was expecting '17 to be a drop off from the year prior, the team, particularly the offense, was nowhere near what i thought they should be.  That defense was too good to go 8-5, and only beating one team with a winning record (Purdue: 7-6).

If Pep really had something on the ball, he'd be Special Teams Cooridnator, Running Game Cooridnator, Offensive Line Cooridnator, Linebacker Cooridnator, Defensive Line Cooridnator, Hydration Cooridnator, S&T Cooridnator, and Football Inflation Cooridnator in addition to being Assistant Head Coach/Passing Game Cooridnator/Quaterbacks and Wide Receivers Coach.

the WR an QB? So both positions that struggled this season are going to be coached by one guy who has 4 overall responsibilities, makes sense. Got one position to fill, but we can't just find an actual WR coach.

On this board for Two months but Michigan is NOT going to find a better coach. My God the program has won a half a NC in 1997 and the others during WWII. It’s 2018 and they usually lose 3,4,5 games per year anyways. I’m a Michigan fan but Finebaum hit it when he said the fans are obnoxious, arrogant, and DELUSIONAL. Ridiculous dumbasses on here. You ride Harbaugh out of town because of the whining then you’ll get NO ONE worth a shit to coach.

sounds like too much for one man, but who am I to judge. BUT, if 2018 fails (please no) then this is your fall guy...

are good this year. If we can get a starter who can make some throws, then this offense should improve. I guess I'm more optimistic that the offense will improve next season with better QB play. I'd like to prove my NE co-workers wrong. They keep telling me that Frost will be going up to Ann Arbor and stomping all over Harbaugh. I'm about to wager some big money bets with them, since I think our D will kill the NE offense.

1) Titles don't mean anything, unless a poster has 1st hand knowledge of exactly who coached what.

2) Maybe Drevno focus on calling the plays and OL coaching only? (Again, we don't know who called the plays and only know that playcalling was suggested by Drevno & Pep and ultimately decided by Harbaugh). I mean that's like saying OP and I get to each call a play, Brian decides and when it's a disaster I'm blamed. Makes no sense

3) Before this season (and perhaps after), Pep seems like a high quality coach, by other coaches. How has that changed?

I think when Michigan had such an offensive disaster, firing everybody isn't the answer. It's keeping the system and making slight adjustments so players don't need a new learning curve.
