MSU starter the last two years. Obviously they must feel some kind of way about Noah Kim. But it’s still remarkable how much of a one man operation the 2021 team was.

Coleman is a nice player. I think he was going to be one of the 3 or 4 best WRs returning in the conference this year.
I'm guessing they don't, even though Houser seemed like a good prospect. I'm leaning more toward Blue@LSU's take in this thread.
Houser for Heisman passed young stroud level on scout team and he hated Coleman so tucker booted a top 5 B10 wr is what is said on the rcmb.

It's going to be hard to find a QB to fit their passing offense. Lobbing jump balls to WRs and praying for pass interference is something that takes years to refine.

If they fire him, they pay the full amount of his contract. He’s set financially for quite a while.

Wasn't there a point in time in which Weiss was being paid by not one, but two, college teams NOT to coach them? IIRC, Notre Dame and Kansas were both paying him at one point despite being fired by both.
Dude was playing 4D Chess while all the other "suckers" like Harbaugh are actually having to, you know, coach to get paid.

But those suits up at East Lansing gave him a guarantee. I don't know which is worse, 9L Mel's (I liked that above!) coaching or the brass at East Lansing.
The $95 million deal is also fully guaranteed so Michigan State will be on the hook for the entire amount if he’s fired without cause.

Thorne was an average at best B10 QB. But Coleman was their one dangerous threat.
Unless they have some big transfers waiting in the wings -- which I sort of doubt -- they are F-U-C-K-E-D.

I gotta disagree, and thought Thorne carried them more than realized.
Possible. But his stats were very middle of the road, and mostly consisted of desperate lobs. Maybe that's because he had a lack of talent/bad coaching around him. Or maybe he just is who he is -- a 3-star QB.
In fairness their offense is dogshit, they had zero run game, and Thorne was often running for his life.
Sparty fans think Kim (every fab base with a struggling offense) is better but it’s hard to replace the experience.
This is a strange move. It’s one thing if Thorne felt disrespected by having to compete or feeling he was going to get squeezed out in the fall but to have Coleman walk on the same day changes that narrative.

Casey Thompson is really the only QB in the portal that is worth a look. But it sounds like Auburn is poking around for him among others. There'll be more people pop up in the portal come Monday since compliance people don't work the weekends.

They could find someone in August, but that's waaaaaay late for a QB1 to learn a whole new system.
I saw a lot of Dan Enos in him, which is not a slight. Smart, fast enough, strong enough, winner traits. There is a a cap on him championship wise, which there are many in NCAA. As a rival fan I am not disappointed to see him leave. They better be right here, as this is impactful as having him as a team guy would’ve helped too (see Cade) sign of the times I guess.
