Per Schefter, just in case Urban ends up taking the job in Jacksonville, he has been assembling a staff.  Nothing set in stone yet.  I think it would be interesting to see if his system will have the same level of success in the NFL.

On the contrary, he's just another wanker ventilating anonymously on a message board. Having no effect on the coaches or coaching whatever. Just--from what I can see--probably not an alum, because I'm pretty sure alums weigh all of these things much more with an eye to little niceties like graduation rates, what coaches are paid, whether we want to take part in the arms race with OSU, Clemson, and AL in the first place. . . In fact, if people aren't graduates and really want M to lie, cheat, and steal with those schools, they may want to adopt another team. Brian's right--Michigan isn't catching up with them, or even trying to.

Rather short-sighted perspective.

The academic ranking has a far greater effect upon the value of the degree than how a single sporting team performs.  That said, a school can still have great success both academically and athletically without compromising their standards and ethos.

Hey "WANKER", please stop this alum vs. non-alum bullshit, extremely disrespectful to a large chunk of Michigan's loyal fanbase who are passionate and MORE of a fan than some alums are!  Are you an alum, not that I give a damn!

BTW "WANKER", "just from what I can see" you must be FUCKING blind!  I happen to be an alum, have 2 degrees from Michigan, taught for a while and even worked in administration at Michigan.  All three kids graduated from Michigan and have had season football tickets since the late 70s and have had season volleyball tickets for almost 8 years.  I want my school to excel in the classroom AND on the field and want to have good coaching.  So piss off WANKER!

Not thread worthy, sounds like Campbell interviewing with Jets though. For all us Campbell guys, hope this doesn’t happen. We need another year of him in Ames, IA.

Unless he views Michigan as a dream job of his.

If his choices were between staying in Ames, IA and coaching the Jets, that’s an easier decision to make. Depending on how he personally feels about the Michigan job, choosing between Michigan and the Jets could be a harder choice and one where he prefers Michigan.

Some guys simply prefer college to the pros. And would prefer an upper echelon college job over a lower tier NFL job. It’s not out of the question that Campbell is one of those guys.

How does him interviewing for NFL positions now at Iowa State have any relevance to what he would do at Michigan? It's incredibly unlikely for a college coach at a blue blood to leave for the NFL. I'm not even sure it's ever happened other than Spurrier at Florida whos a fringe blue blood.

For all we know he could have been waiting on a call from UM and didnt even hear anything.

I was just about to post something similar. This crap of UM being a forgone failure at the top level has no data or basis to make those conclusions, just anecdotal skewed opinions. Let this play out, worst case is 50/50 but my opinion is Meyer has a decent chance of being a legit NFL coach.

He will likely fail. Hopefully this helps Michigan via some coaches leaving Ohio st that cause an important recruit or two to go somewhere else. I bet he is back at college level by 2025 after sitting out 2-3 years after this fails.
