Ugly news out of Columbus.

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2020/02/112134/ohio-states-amir-riep-jahsen-wint-charged-with-rape-kidnapping

“Ohio State senior cornerback Amir Riep and redshirt senior linebacker/safety Jahsen Wint were charged with rape and kidnapping by the Franklin County Municipal Court on Tuesday.”

“Warrants have been issued for both of their arrests. The charges are first-degree felonies.”

The details in the article turned my stomach.

Sweet jesus, that article was horrifying. Innocent until proven yada yada but you don't have details like that and charges like that without some serious damned evidence. I hope like hell the victim is able to get help

The “details” are likely just the victim’s account of what happened. I was falsely accused with something similar in the past, but luckily the girl that made the claim was a fool and I had an alibi. Up until this point this story is purely “he said, she said” and the whole encounter could have been consensual.
The only exception is if the actual act was recorded, which I doubt. Let this play out. Don’t rush to a side without thinking of all of the possibilities. Innocent until proven guilty.

Wish I didn't read that.  So sad after thousands of years we still have men thinking this is acceptable in any fashion.  Much respect to the victim to come out and voice this crime...though it is 2020 so I should also say those that are unable to come forward with their stories don't LOSE any respect, either.

In this situation you’re probably right! But if you’re famous I definitely could see you having women sign something or verbalizing that your sexual conduct was consensual, for financial reasons. These dudes are broke college students, so I doubt that was her motive.

Broke or not, Ohio has irrational hero-worship of its football program that often clears thresholds for cult behavior.  Hell, #MeToo took down some of the most powerful people in Hollywood and they didn't even touch the Zach Smith scandal.  Urbs was too much.  They'll get around to building a statue of him at some point.

This ain't a fight anyone gets into for sympathy or attention.  The death threats have probably already started.

Just as long as he wins, he has the entire State of Ohio protecting him what does he have to fear?

If Chase Young or Dobbins were involved this story doesn't get out there.

Just out of curiosity, I went to rivals to see their recruiting profiles  One was the lowest 3 star and the other was the lowest four star.  They don't seem like big impact players.

The scum bags in Ohio are looking at this as two more scholarships opening up. .  .

I am over 40 and have no idea what a consent contract is.  Is that actually something that people use today before having sex?  Serious question.

I can see why this would be a good thing - eliminates any misunderstanding as to whether consent exists and prevents someone from later alleging that something was not consensual - but to me, it would just seem really weird to stop somewhere between (using childish bases) 2nd and 3rd base and say, "hold on a sec, before we keep going, sign this."

Again, i am old and recognize that things are different know.

Yes.  Serious answer :)

Some schools go so far to train students at orientation about it and require the consent in writing (often with stipulations such as if one of the parties is impaired, a contract cannot be entered).

Being 40+, I'm not in the loop anymore.  But this is what I found regarding Michigan just searching briefly:

https://studentsexualmisconductpolicy.umich.edu/content/1-consent

https://www.wxyz.com/news/local-news/investigations/i-do-think-theyre-dangerous-the-legal-pitfalls-of-sexual-consent-apps

I heard Minnesota had a written contract (did it look like this, IDK?: https://eforms.com/consent/sexual/)

But I'm not tracking this stuff on a daily basis other than to know that the answer to your question is yes -- and enforcement ranges from being held to a policy (first link), a written contract, or an app.

On that note, the NYT Daily podcast had an interview with the lead counsel for Harvey Weinstein last week, and she made the note that she believes that all men should require that women sign a consent form before engaging in sexual activity.

The then proceeded to say, after being asked whether she had ever been a victim of sexual assault, that she wasn't because she "would never put [herself] in a position to have that happen to [her]".

The amount of victim-blaming is absolutely terrifying in so many circles of society.

Well, cotdamn.

Ohio State is off to a disgusting headstart for the Fulmer Cup.

/For those that don't know, the Fulmer Cup is sardonically awarded every season to the program with the most and worst off-season issues.

First and foremost, what a horrible thing. I can’t even....

Second, the Urban Meyer pattern continues. He has done damage at every college he has worked at during his time coaching and immediately after he has left. What a fucked up legacy. I’ll leave it at that.

If they are found guilty, hopefully they get the extensive prison time those crimes deserve.  Truly disgusting allegations.
