Ohio State opens as 30 point favorite against Michigan

This is the largest point spread in the rivalry since 1978, when the FBS and FCS split into separate divisions.

The previous largest point spread came in 2014 when the Buckeyes opened as 21-point favorites against the Wolverines. In other words, Harbaugh is leading one of the worst Michigan teams ever against Ohio State. Smoke them if you got them, boys.

I don’t understand how osu was allowed to play Saturday. They had something like 23 people test positive (players and staff combined) which is approximately double of the allowable threshold. I tried looking it up and read that it has something to do with a rolling 7 day average, so I guess as long as we don’t have another outbreak, we will be permitted to play if coach Harbaugh elects to do so.
  Hopefully he’s smarter than that.

FFS they didn't have 23 positives.  what universe are you living in? seriously. the 23 was positives, injuries and CONTACT TRACING.   had they had 23 positives the contact tracing alone would probably have had them have 50-60 guys out.  The rolling avg is only for positives.  From what I can deduce from reading their Doctors comments they had less than 7 people ( staff included) test positive.

Maybe you’re right, but 11 warriors said they had something like 23 people within the program test positive. Based on your figures, there’s no way Michigan can play osu this weekend because there’s been 12 players test positive, which would be about 25-30 players out with contact tracing.

i've tried to find what you're referencing, and this is the only thing that comes close. i think this is what you were looking at. it's 11warriors list of osu's inactives for the MSU game, which includes 23 players out for the game, and the note that there were 13 program positives last week, when the illinois game was cancelled. if you recall, osu didn't actually hit the game cancellation threshold for illinois, they chose to shut down to corral the potential larger outbreak.

if michigan did what osu did, which is stamp out its outbreak early enough to play on with 12 positives and ~23 inactives including contract tracing a week later, then hopefully, per warde manuel, they will.

herbstriet didn't think michigan had the stomach to do that. so we'll see.

They will not play but a 30 point spread is being awful kind. OSU is coached super well and they are damn good. They can beat BOTH Clemson and Alabama this year. They are ALWAYS in the right place to make a play and that is COACHING. IF they do play this year then Day will really put it on Harbaugh for running his mouth back in the spring but that is about all that Jimbo is capable of now. Running his mouth based upon delusion. OSU will score 70+ on that horrendous defense and the offense may not score at all. It's literally the equivalent of an NFL team playing a Junior High team. It is so sad to see Michigan fall apart this quickly. The players don't want to play for Harbaugh and his coaches and that is so evident because the talent is a hell of a lot better than the play. They are going through the motions and that sucks for the players. If the rumors of a 3 year extension hold water then that will be it for Michigan football folks unless Harbaugh completely cleans house with his coordinators and their position coaches. That, however, may not make enough difference either. It really sucks. College football is better with Michigan in the mix. OSU will not suffer from the playoffs if the game is not played. The Big 10 will NOT hold the Bucks back when they are so good and deserve to be in the playoffs. Barry Alvarez even said they will do what they have to do to ensure OSU makes the playoffs. Don't be jealous. The Bucks are the ONLY program in the Big 10 that can take on the SEC.

You can't judge a game by how one team played another at a different time you idiot. Remember a couple years ago when the OSU defense was horrible for 10 games UNTIL they blasted Michigan's ass at the end of the year? You may not remember because you were in Middle School at the time with a diaper still on playing X Box in your room while engaging numerous so called girlfriends who friended you on Facebook. OSU can play with Alabama this year. Typical arrogant UM fan delusional  as your current head coach.

Wow your response sounds like you are the fucking butthurt teenager.

Osu cannot play with bamas wide receivers..  nor could Ohio state run the ball with consistency against Bama either.

I don't give a fuck what happened a few years ago with Ohio state, that same team was loaded with draft picks that didn't give a shit all year because they had a cake walk schedule leading up to the michigan game..  the talent was still there they just didn't play like it.

This years osu secondary has Wade and thats about it.  The rest of their secondary is solid, but no game changers yet.  Definitely not against Bamas wide receivers

Also my family has had season tickets for 47 years, so go crawl back into your hole and bitch some more about how you think this years osu team will destroy bama

Have you seen the last 5+ years of Harbaugh?  Given your screen name you hopefully remember when we use to be competitive with them and now and then win a B1G title.  Instead, our savior Jim "whose got it better than us" Harbaugh has given us this SHIT during his tenure:

  • 0-5 vs OSU, with the 2 worst losses ever
  • 3-3 vs MSU
  • 0 B1G titles, not even playing in the B1G title game let alone CFP
  • best road win is against #20 Northwestern
  • 1-4 in bowl games
  • 0-15 when Michigan is an underdog
  • 2-12 vs. top 10 teams
  • worst halftime deficit in Michigan stadium history & 2nd worst loss ever at home
  • home loss to an 0-5 team
  • 4 straight home losses
  • talented players transferring / leaving the program early
  • 4th highest paid coach in the country

I want to win this game as badly as anyone, but what has happened over his 5+ years has shown at least me that he, for whatever reason, is not capable of leading us back to anything that we were close to being.

I don’t think it’s that we’ve given up so much as just looking at the situation objectively.

It’s a 30 point spread. A somewhat depleted OSU roster just laid the wood on MSU.

If the game is played, we don’t even know who is going to be available and from scuttlebutt on the board and other places, we may actually be throwing Dan Villari out there.

We were already down way too many starters from injury and opt outs. If we’re down a few more and Villari starts, it will be an absolute slaughter. Even if it’s a healthy Cade, I don’t see how that changes things that much. He has basically one full game of experience.

Add up ALL of that, plus the fact that we’ve already seen this team either quit on Harbaugh or just play some listless football at best, and I don’t see this game staying within 30 unless some weird crap happens in our favor.

I get the pessimism I guess.. but Cardale Jones was a third stringer for OSU starting the season in 14'.. he went on to, ugh, a pretty good run at the end of the year. I don't appreciate any OSU fan thinking this game is a shoe-in.. UM will come hyped up and ready to play, as they should. Whatever happens, happens.. but I certainly don't believe this game is a concrete blow-out like many do.. the bucks have to come ready to play and firing on all cylinders. Period.

Take the points...

While I think that there is some desire on the part of OSU fans/program to take it easy on Michigan, due to their thin resume, its in their best interest to score as many points as possible...

could get very ugly if the game is played

I hope the game is played - even though it’s gonna be a blowout, at least we can all laugh at how absurd the game is in both score and just 2020 in general.
