Ohio State Offensive Coaching Shakeup Predicted
This is already 21 hours old and I don't see it on the board.
Ohio State is expected to get a new co-OC, QB and special teams coach during the off season.
OSU fans on reddit seem pretty happy about it. Other CFB fans are amazed at the OSU fan melt down after an 11-2 season.

I'd like to know where Lou Holtz is right now!

Interviewing for the co-OC job, I imagine...

Wait, I thought Brian Hartline was the co OC and the greatest coach in history??
January 6th, 2024 at 2:23 PM ^
Nope, just the smokescreen in front of the bagmen handing out fat rolls to WR recruits.

Half of what makes Will Howard a good QB is his legs. Ryan Day almost never ran his QBs. Will be very interesting to see between now and November if Day / his OC actually run the QB sometimes or if Howard and Day insist on trying to showcase Howard as a pocket passer

Howard in a Day offense makes as much sense as Allar in a Franklin offense. Meh, maybe he'll be fine.

Ran across a very knowledgeable and friendly Buckeye fan early in December while at Disney. Great talk about the rivalry. McCord was already in the portal. He mentioned how badly they needed a QB with at least the legs to turn 3rd and 8 into a running 1st down.
I think Howard may be better as a leader. Day will be under pressure to do what he did in the UGA bowl game when he let CJ scramble.

Rearranging the deck chairs.

Not sure that ship is sinking yet. So they've lost to us three years in a row (and yes that is sinking to them) but in reality they still are getting top 3 recruiting classes and winning 10+ games almost guaranteed.
This isn't exactly their RichRod / Hoke era.
January 6th, 2024 at 3:39 PM ^
Disagree. It's a culture/Ryan Day thing. They won't get better until he's gone.

I realize 3 straight victories over them should have made this clear, but after our win over Alabama I was listening to Klatt this week and he brought up Ohio St and for the first time in 2 decades (?), I heard their name and thought “well they are not on our level. Who cares about them?”
What an amazing time we are living in.

Mass psychosis is nothing to make fun of...allegedly.

All this turmoil and losses stacking hasn’t had an effect in recruiting down there, just grabbed the #1 corner for 25. Don’t get it honestly I mean all the fans say they don’t pay to play /s

They should hire Josh Gattis. That would give them the perfect offseason.
January 6th, 2024 at 3:04 PM ^
Still loads of raw talent. Day should give up play calling, and they need a new ST coach. Defense looks fine to me. I wouldn’t do more than that, but I hope they spend a lot of energy rearranging the deck furniture.

"Other CFB fans are amazed at the OSU fan melt down after an 11-2 season."
If you are a program like OSU and U-M where winning is inbred in their history, then the fans should expect better than 11-2 with all that talent. For the Michigan fan in me, I want Michigan to be in the playoffs every year. An 11-2 record with a bowl loss and two straight losses to end the season would not be good enough as a fan.
January 6th, 2024 at 5:15 PM ^
Winning isn't all that's inbred at OSU. Heyy-ohhhhhhhh!

Before the most recent B1G expansion 10-3 is what I considered our floor. It’s an ok year but it basically means you beat everyone you should have and you lost all of the toss-ups. 11-2 if it includes an OSU victory is a good year. Without an OSU victory it is disappointing. Anything better is great. 9-4 means you didn’t win any tough games. OSU had a disappointing year.

Until Ohio gets top notch OL, DL, and S&C coaches, we will continue to have the edge in The Game as long as we get very good QB play. Jim's attempt to match their speed in space around 2018-20 didn't work without a QB like JJ. A year ago, Klatt talked about how JH made a point to build a team that controlled both lines, like he did at Stanford. It took a few years to give up the speed approach but teams like Bama found out we can win with a 1990s style attack.

I don't think it matters who they hire. This is Ryan Day's program. It will always take on his character - soft.
January 6th, 2024 at 3:13 PM ^
Their continuing meltdown is utterly glorious.
January 6th, 2024 at 3:14 PM ^
Came for gif of Ryan Day being mosh pitted pregame with headline of "osu coaching shakeup" promise.
/disappointed

A new OC needs more than one year to click even if it's the right combination, let alone a new QB & special teams coach. OSU takes another step back in 2024.
January 6th, 2024 at 3:23 PM ^
Day is so smart! With weather, illness, bad DC, adjusting to new DC, and cheating already used, he had no excuse to use to avoid being fired after losing next year. Now he’s bought himself “adjusting to new OC” as a reason to keep his job long enough to lose to us a 5th straight year.
January 6th, 2024 at 3:41 PM ^
he could just go back to a clean shaven look and solve his mojo problem.
January 6th, 2024 at 3:48 PM ^
They should only be happy about it if it works.
January 6th, 2024 at 4:23 PM ^
OSU getting away from a mobile QB was a big part of their downfall. Day was so in love with his own offensive mind that he just figured his brilliance would carry the day. 4 slices of humble pie (including the Missouri ass beating) should be enough to actually help OSU figure a few things out, but hopefully they make the wrong moves ala RichRod type pivots.
January 6th, 2024 at 5:07 PM ^
probably a 12-1 season if the fan base doesn’t chase Honda McCord.
January 6th, 2024 at 5:21 PM ^
It doesn't matter. We'll kick their ass no matter who the coach is. Michigan has found their identity and their soul.
New QB? New OC? Great. A ballerina can pirouette in front of a shotgun, too. It won't help.

Had to reply to lol at the "A ballerina can pirouette in front of a shotgun..."
