New SI Article: Alleges Ball Boys Stealing Signs

Article goes on to say:

Multiple sources from one Big Ten school told SI that a coach at a different school called them before playing Michigan to warn them about Wolverines ball boys on their sideline listening to play calls and communicating information to the Michigan sideline—holding the football up in one hand to indicate an expected pass, and in the other hand to indicate a run, for instance. (Sources at the school that was warned said they experienced nothing in the game to implicate the Michigan ball boys.)

Next there will be someone saying they were warned by another BIG 10 team that Michigan was using handicapped fans to alter the space time continuum in order for everything to go Michigan's way.

I really dislike the part where Pat Forde says "why isn't Michigan commenting on all these accusations" when it's been made clear by the NCAA that they can't comment publicly on said accusations especially since they haven't, apparently, been served with the allegations yet.

I do get a sense, based on some media reports recently, that UM is talking to friendly media types behind closed doors to get their framing out but at some point if Pat Forde and his ilk are going to credulously repeat whatever BS they get from an OSU source as gospel there's only so much UM can do.

Remember last season in Columbus?   The Bucks called a fake punt near midfield.  They missed the play call - or, it wasn’t communicated throughout the punt unit.

My question is… if the Buckeyes don’t know their own calls - how can Michigan gain any advantage from them?

For reals though, when Harbaugh brought it up, he said that we should've known about the fake punt because they'd known about that formation, but - during that play - would not have been prepared (he said they "had us cold") and would've surrendered a huge gain had OSU not similarly f'ed up.  You could chalk that up to the coaches and players for both sides having seven million other things on their plate at the time, but it all goes to show that having some idea of signs is only a small piece of a much bigger tapestry - ultimately you still have to execute and have players make plays.

This has become so insanely stupid and over the top, that any rational person must be tired of it.

This guy is on the B1G Network all the time, so he clearly should know better. It just makes me hate the conference even more for allowing this stupidity to run rampant.

I remember when journalism worked like this:

Reporter listens patiently to paranoid source.

Reporters seeks verification of paranoid sources information.

Reporter discovers information counter to story of paranoid source.

Editor does not publish.

A coach at a "different school".  Starting to sound like someone just making stuff up now.  So the coaches on the sideline are yelling out "pass" or "run" in a voice the ball boys can hear.  So much for the cards blocking the lips

Rumor has it that SI will update its story today and clarify that the football manipulation actually involves presenting the Wilson logo on the ball upright for a pass and upside down for a run.

Have heard that the ball boys have "lawyered up" and will soon be starting a Go Fund Me page.

Pat Forde is a hack who has been relegated to the smoking crater once known as Sports Illustrated. Anything that comes out of his mouth (or fingers) should be met with derision and laughter. He's a friggin' clown.
