The last time I cared this…

The last time I cared this little about March Madness there was a pandemic on the horizon and the whole thing was canceled. It's canceled this year too, but probably just for our team.

6.  Not angry at Harbaugh…

6.  Not angry at Harbaugh but he's not "my guy" anymore, Sherrone is.  The Chargers have never been my NFL team and that hasn't changed. I always wish former players well.  I was excited to see Money Moody dropping in 50plus yard FGs but that doesn't mean I was rooting for the 49ers. (My daughter's HS classmate plays for the Chiefs- that's a more compelling draw)

And being stereotyped. As if…

And being stereotyped. As if women (oops I mean chicks) weren't individual people.

I'm a mere elementary…

I'm a mere elementary educator and I know what it means.  But it does come up in context of children with movement disorders.

Maybe that's why they hired…

Maybe that's why they hired a crap coach- "for the sake of the rivalry"

That's a pretty HOT TAKE…

That's a pretty HOT TAKE from a team who isn't even sure they got their OWN most recent coach hire correct "for the sake for the sake of the rivalry"

He might find some support…

He might find some support with the First Generation college group.  It kind of fills in the gaps for kids who are the first in their families to go to college. https://firstgen.umich.edu/

Hmmm.  Sounds like it could…

Hmmm.  Sounds like it could be an FSU type situation.  NCAA better investigate.

And I always gloat over a…

And I always gloat over a defeat of OSU for a full 365-- 366 this year, it's Leap Year.

Ohio State (fan base)  is…

Ohio State (fan base)  is going ALLL IN on the NCAA burning Michigan's program to the ground and thus, returning them to their former prominence within the conference, with an easy springboard to the Natty. I will refrain from commenting on the NCAA doing their work for them and just point out they seem to have forgotten that the B1G is expanding with some very good teams next year.  The days of the Big 2 and little er-- however many are over no matter what.

Those refs were definitely…

Those refs were definitely for the birds!  Buncha chicken-sh!=s

As we showed in 2021, if you…

As we showed in 2021, if you have all the other pieces, a solid QB will get the job done. Day ran off a better than solid (just not stellar) QB with his impulsive mouth.

I love that it shows them as…

I love that it shows them as young guys goofing around and having fun, going on rides and teasing each other.  "Who would you let date your daughter?"  "Not YOU!"

Especially at the college…

Especially at the college level, defense wins championships.  Especially the D line.

I'm much more nervous for…

I'm much more nervous for the outcome at home than in-person.  When I'm there, I get a vibe for how the game is actually going.  More than just stats...

UTL 2 was the loudest,…

UTL 2 was the loudest, rowdiest game from end to end I've ever attended.  UTL 1 was calm in stretches-- the last 5 minutes was unbelievable as was the post-game celebration.

I'd like them to post the…

I'd like them to post the words to the alma mater song "Yellow and Blue" that is played at the end of every home game-- it would be nice for everyone to sing more than just "HAIL!"  I've emailed Warde a couple of times with the suggestion...

You start by teaching your…

You start by teaching your child to respect other people's bodies and boundaries and letting him have some control over his body.  He doesn't get to touch (hug, poke) other kids' without their permission and he gets to decide who touches him (within reasonable limits)  For example, I ask my grandkids for a hug but if they're not feeling it in the moment, I don't force it.  Drinking and drugs talk can start early too.  We saw the results of a drunk driver on a stop sign when my daughter was 6- I explained in simple language what alcohol does to one's brain (and thus driving) and she said "Oh, like Uncle X ?"  They understand SO much more than we think they do. You don't (and shouldn't) wait for an awkward, stilted talk when they're adolescents.  And as you pointed out in regards to your parents-- modeling is ultra important, and I bet you're already doing that.

It wasn't good enough to…

It wasn't good enough to fool most people- I hope.

I attended a lot of games as…

I attended a lot of games as a student, but never THE GAME because I was a student of the university down the road that starts with an E, and could never afford the after market price.  My husband was a student here for both undergrad and grad school.  We moved away and didn't attend very many games until 2012 when we had moved within striking distance AND our kids were grown...so we got season tickets and have been enjoying them for 11 seasons-- but obviously have seen a lot of losses to OSU-- in 2021 I was recovering from surgery so my husband took a friend.  I had a lot of nerves around this year's edition-- wondering if my attendance was going to be the curse-- but when the clock hit 0:00 I almost cried!  It was my first time seeing a Michigan v Ohio victory in person!

I can almost guarantee that…

I can almost guarantee that people who shout about "how much NY sucks" have either never been there or if they have, have never left Times Square.

We went to that game,…

We went to that game, intending to meet up with some OSU friends after.  Urban Meyer said something about wanting to score 100 point points someday and the way the team had been playing I was worried it might be possible.  But... our team played like their hair was on fire and almost pulled it off.  In the bar after, you would have thought Michigan won, based on the mood of  the fans in our group.  We Michigan fans were thrilled our team had played so well, and OSU was stunned that we had almost upset them.

I was in the section that he…

I was in the section that he flipped off.  I wasn't even offended AS he was flipping us off.  I was kind of sorry that playmakers on both sides got ejected.

My BIL is an MSU grad.  His…

My BIL is an MSU grad.  His reaction to the hire: Oh great, the last "John Smith worked out so well for us."

Someone get that boy some…

Someone get that boy some help.  Paranoid delusions are no way to go through life.

No matter what happens it…

No matter what happens it tarnishes every victory.  Which really ticks me off, because the victories were won on the field by the guys.

There's records of venmo too…

There's records of venmo too.  If he was dumb enough to use his own credit card and not worry about hiding it, why would he ask for cash or even Venmo?

They have a 50/50 chance of…

They have a 50/50 chance of being right.

Wait, I though it was a rule…

Wait, I though it was a rule that either Bama or OSU had to be given a playoff berth no matter what, just to keep their whiny fans from burning things down.

Yikes!

Yikes!

BINGO

BINGO

TBF, it wasn't just a…

TBF, it wasn't just a resurgent Michigan, it was also a solid Penn State, Wisconsin and Iowa,  with a lot of B1G teams no longer being easy wins. The landscape had changes a lot.

Those juxtapositions…

Those juxtapositions definitively help keep things like football wins/losses in perspective.

I wish! They will say "of…

I wish! They will say "of course the doctors are saying that! something, something, BIG PHARMA."

I think that was covered in…

I think that was covered in 7th grade civics- a republic is one form of democracy.

*Republic is to democracy as German shepherd is to dog.*

Yet is one ran around saying "Fido is a German shepherd, not a dog," we'd think they had a screw loose.

Whether or not one can succeed in overthrowing the government remains to be seen, and is hardly the point though, is it?  Attempting to do so, and supporting such attempts isn't a good thing.

I have 2 and 5 year old…

I have 2 and 5 year old grandsons.  It's on our frequent play list.

My daughter is a proud grad…

My daughter is a proud grad of Ohio University, is a big Michigan fan and hates Ohio State.  She has a shirt that says "We are Ohio, you are State."  Don't call the Buckeyes "Ohio." (Also she lived in Columbus for a minute and said crossing out the M every November is just annoying to people who just live and work there)

The whitewashing of history…

The whitewashing of history education is a troubling development though-- the young people may never hear the story, or the correct story anyway of Emmett Till.  Hard to learn from what one has never heard.

What ever she suffered it…

What ever she suffered it paled in comparison to Emmit and his family.  So, not enough.

I'd bet $20 that never…

I'd bet $20 that never happened.

People aren't desensitized…

People aren't desensitized to killing of companion animals the way they are to the killing of humans.  (What a statement that is)

That's great to know!

That's great to know!

I went from mini-van to…

I went from mini-van to Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.  I like it a lot.  I think a plug in might even be better but I don't have any experience with them and don't know anyone who has one.

I get the annoyance at …

I get the annoyance at "elites flying around in private jets" but I'm missing the logic of the rest of us continuing to drive gas guzzlers as a result.  (I understand that there may a be variety of other reasons for sticking with a gas powered vehicle... just not THAT reason.)

I've looked in to those too…

I've looked in to those too.  I worry about traveling to areas with few charging stations. I currently have a hybrid and like it.

I was at that game and…

I was at that game and thought that selling water instead of providing it freely  ( and selling it inefficiently at that) when it was 90 degrees was pretty negligent.  They were carting fans off to First Aid with heat exhaustion the entire game, and if someone had died,  the athletic department would be writing a huge check (the morality of allowing a very preventable death aside!)

They were visible in Clare…

They were visible in Clare County, which is 1.5 hours north of EL and just south of Houghton Lake for those who don't know.

I saw them once on a boat at…

I saw them once on a boat at night on Lake Huron.  In the darkness on the lake they were spectacular. (we were in our 20s and argued for about 10 minutes about what we were seeing)

After 4 years of working…

After 4 years of working sweaty outside gigs at my kids' high school festival, my husband and I graduated to working inside in the A/C with TVs on watching football as we counted money. Lucky us!  We live in Ohio and were surrounded by Buckeyes as we watched that game-- and everyone knows we are UM fans.  I really wanted to volunteer for sweaty outside duty again.
