I tried telling PSU fans that their offense was suspect and the OL being "best one under Franklin" didn't mean much, and that Allar being the dink and dunk king wasn't going to fly against good teams, but they just weren't having it
I'm much less terrified of going to Happy Valley now. I think we'll smoke their offense.
Still worried about their D though
October 22nd, 2023 at 9:34 AM ^
Hell, they probably win that game if they just had an OL as good as. . .Rutgers?
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:42 AM ^
Well, I have to rein myself in:
Saw the actual quote: two "of the best," and he couched it in some "might be" type language. Not inflammatory and probably not wrong.
Of course OSU hasn't played any real offenses yet.
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:50 AM ^
That’s what everyone says after they have embarrassed the whole Big Ten with a clunker of a game like theirs was.
October 21st, 2023 at 10:54 PM ^
The other team can't win if they can't score.
October 21st, 2023 at 10:54 PM ^
Asssss whooping.
October 22nd, 2023 at 5:54 AM ^
Business is booming…

Finally, they had their shutout. Two turnovers. Pick six. This is a great D. I am glad they made MSU even worse than G5 teams. We are a tough team but not a tuff team. Can't wait for OSU game..
October 21st, 2023 at 10:55 PM ^
We need some Paul Bunyan Muppets!
October 21st, 2023 at 10:57 PM ^
PERFECT!! A shoutout performance. They get an A+! Another Pick-6, thank you Mike Sainristil. They hurried the MSU QB all night long.
The tackling was excellent and know that the field was wet and the uniforms were wet so it was tricky to make these crucial plays.
It was a joy to watch.
October 21st, 2023 at 10:58 PM ^
If you scripted it like that coaches would say "Come on now, that's too perfect." And it was perfect.
October 22nd, 2023 at 9:37 AM ^
I don’t know, I’m still bitter about the TD we lost at the end of the first half.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:00 PM ^
McBurrows pick the cherry on top.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:03 PM ^
Anyone else see him hop and skipping into the tunnel thinking he might get sucker punched ?
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:07 AM ^
Just made the connection with JJ skipping the length of the whole damn field after his interview. Hilarious!
October 21st, 2023 at 11:01 PM ^
Pick six and a shutout!
October 21st, 2023 at 11:01 PM ^
Minters D finally gets a Shutout, which has been earned in prior games had we not have gone into the third string backups. Kudos. Great hire.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:01 PM ^
Fuck state
October 21st, 2023 at 11:02 PM ^
Excellent D thru 3 quarters. Backups played hard.
Go Blue.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:02 PM ^
Got the shutout. Multiple turnovers. No notes.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:07 PM ^
Can't complain about a shutout!
October 21st, 2023 at 11:08 PM ^
McBurrows getting the pick that led to the Orji TD was the icing on the cake.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:10 PM ^
I can't believe we couldn't hold them to negative points.
All joking aside though, absolutely dominant performance. It exceeded my expectations, which were already pretty high. I thought MSU would at least score early and hang around for 1.5 quarters or so. This D wasn't having any of that, though. Love to see it.
October 22nd, 2023 at 2:11 AM ^
They sort of did?
If defensive scores were counted against the offense instead, Michigan wins 42 to (-7)... ;)
October 21st, 2023 at 11:11 PM ^
Walker showed today.
October 22nd, 2023 at 11:08 AM ^
Good point. His coverage looked good!
October 21st, 2023 at 11:14 PM ^
In Sparty's biggest game of the year they scored 0 against this Michigan Defense. Everybody balled and everybody ate for Michigan D tonight. Love K. Grant, Mikey, and all the guys. Jayden's pic in fourth quarter helped seal the shutout. After the shiz in the tunnel last year his pic and this goose egg were sweet poetic justice.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:16 PM ^
NO NOTES!
October 21st, 2023 at 11:20 PM ^
Muppet-worthy.
October 22nd, 2023 at 9:36 AM ^
Seriously - how spoiled have we become (along with how bad has Sparty become) that a 49-0 thrashing of our in-state rival no longer merits Muppets? Sign o' the times.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:25 PM ^
Superior.....not much else to say. Very happy for the shutout and for McBurrows.
Looked like we got out injury-free as well, which is awesome.
October 21st, 2023 at 11:35 PM ^
Now 5.9 ppg allowed on year
October 21st, 2023 at 11:55 PM ^
Sparty is not even MAC qualified. BG gave us more fight by far. The best team expectedly dominated.
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:04 AM ^
Dominating performance. Not a lot that hasn’t already been said
Glad to see Rolder get in late. Hopefully recovery is on track.
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:05 AM ^
Happy to see the shutout. Somehow against Sparty, it just means more. No fucking consolation for them.
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:16 AM ^
I enjoyed the defensive effort.
I just mean the way the guys: Totally, entirely, all encompassingly, blanked 'em. Zero. Sparty. Zero.
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:34 AM ^
Defense reminiscent of 1997
October 22nd, 2023 at 2:18 AM ^
Somehow I had forgotten five of Michigan's six (!) interceptions in the '97 game.
As great as the 2023 defense is, if you paired the '97 defense with the '23 offense, Michigan would be winning games 70-2.
October 22nd, 2023 at 3:06 AM ^
I was told there'd be some ability to move the ball by MSU. There was not.
October 22nd, 2023 at 8:32 AM ^
I’m a little worried that we haven’t played a tougher schedule, but then I remember that RR and Hoke lost to teams of this quality and we’re blowing them out by 30-50 points. Rutgers (7), MN(10) and Indiana (7) are the only teams to score on our first team D during meaningful play. 3 1/2 scores in 8 games. That’s pretty good. We’re doing what we should be doing.
Purdue is awful, but PSU, MD and OSU look like decent to very good teams despite some flaws. They should prepare us for the post season assuming we win out.
October 22nd, 2023 at 9:58 AM ^
And when you put it like that... a trick play for Indiana and a supremely lucky throw and catch for Minnesota. Rutgers (who is the best team we faced) was the only offense to even show signs of life against the first team D.
October 22nd, 2023 at 10:36 AM ^
A trick play and more or less a hero play. Those are the only two scores. Offenses just haven't been able to move this defense down the field with any consistency. None. MSU never sniffed the red zone. This is next level stuff.
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:53 PM ^
Don't forget how difficult Rutgers and Nebraska were for us to beat in 2021. Maryland, IU, and Iowa were no cakewalks just last year, and obviously, the Illinois game was way too close for comfort. This team more focused and the coaching is finally, fully taking advantage of the pass when teams stack the box.
October 22nd, 2023 at 10:53 AM ^
Amazing that Sparty had their first string Offense in against out ‘clear-the-bench’ Defense and they couldn’t score! Not even a lose with dignity field goal.
That win felt sooo good.
