Minter looks more like a tennis coach. Newsome looks like a football coach.

Kidding aside...Minter certainly has the credentials. And he knows and coaches the defense Macdonald installed last year so hopefully little in the way of transition costs. Fingers crossed.

Not really sure how any can be *excited* about this hire.    Kinda screams desperation to me.   All I can do is HOPE he ends up being what we need.

One of the best Universities in THE WORLD, and zero WOW factor.   :(

Michigan zeroed in on a couple of select people. This was not a multiple swing and miss situation. Minter was a top choice because of his ability to run our current defense, and to recruit. Going young and hungry seems to be working. This was the right approach.

Some of these moves pique my interest.  Elston as recruiting coordinator?  Clink not passing game coordinator but co-defensive coordinator?  A way of getting these guys more money perhaps?  After reading about Minter this hire reminds me slightly of Pete Golding at Alabama.  Only difference being Minter has spent time in the pros, but Golding is on the staff of a guy by the name of Saban so that's basically the same thing (/s sort of).

Edit* Nevermind on Clink, his was earned per his contract.  My memory failed me on that.

What piqued my interest about that was that I thought thats what Albert Karschnia did.  All the similar but different titles confuse me sometimes.  Harbaugh hasn't had a coach/recruiting coordinator since he's been here.  Not sure about his Stanford/San Diego days.  Just interested me is all.

He coached secondary and so does Clink and Jaybaugh moving to safeties, so that should assuage any fears of Jay coaching positions he doesn't know since he'll be getting plenty of help.
