I thought it was just an envelope that said 'boy' or 'girl'. Inside the envelope was an ultrasound. We didn't tell the doctor what our intentions were when they gave us that sealed envelope.
My interpretation was that the scholarship offer meant 'boy'. And when I finally opened the ultrasound from the doctor, it confirmed that in my mind. But maybe Coach would've offered a scholarship if it had been a girl as well? Either way, we were blown away that he responded. We have never met him and had zero expectations. The scholarship offer was icing on the cake.

I took my 5-year-old to his first-ever tournament last week in Memphis. He loved it! I forgot how fun watching in person was. I hadn't been since before my kids were born. Thinking about driving to Atlanta for the tournament next week. We are big Max Homa fans. I hope he wins it all, but would be really happy with any of those top 6 winning.
The thing I miss about living in NYC is the number of amazing concerts every night of the week. I especially miss seeing bands from other countries play their first shows in America at small clubs in NYC. In comparison, we get about one good performance a week here in Nashville. And rarely is it a buzz band. Luckily, I go to SXSW every year and this year I saw some amazing performances and got my fix.

I got the 3 ticket max for my priority point level (480+). Level 300/400, $675 each. What blows my mind is what is happening on ticketmaster. How is the venue/ticketmaster allowed to scalp their own tickets? The 'red dots' are 'reseller' tickets, but clearly these are not people reselling tickets. There are literally rows of tickets for sale on the lower three levels in the corners. Only the venue could have a whole row to sell. They aren't even trying to hide the fact that they are inflating the value by scalping their own seats (and blocking out sections to make it seem like less tickets are available than there actually are). That's insane. Shouldn't the schools playing have access to more of these tickets rather than the venue selling for three times face value?

ahhh...Frozen Ice Cream (with a flimsy spoon)!!! I had to leave the Indiana game after the 1st Q because I couldn't get my phone to play YouTube Kids for my 5 year old. My kid basically whined until I agreed to leave.I hadn't thought about trying anything frozen to keep him occupied.
In his defense, Mike Hart did just hit the ground right in front of us and it just seemed weird being there and having the game resume so quickly. Sounds like I should wait until he's 7 before taking him to another game.

I have a 2 and 5 year old and they are constantly coming down with something. They've tested negative for Covid, Flu, Strep, and RSV every time. No idea what they keep getting - but it goes away after about a week.
I hear this a lot. I also don't know how anyone who isn't a Spartan fan listens to 97.1 in the afternoons. They've done a lot to increase the toxicity of that fan base. They even got the fanbase to turn on Dantonio - the guy that put them back on the map. Insane.
One of my co-workers, an IU grad, told me she had only been to two football games her entire time on campus. She said exactly what you are saying - a really big number of students only go to tailgate and never make it into the games. She also said that when the basketball team is good, you have to buy football tickets in order to get basketball tickets.
I made the trip too. Mike went down right in front of me and my son. We couldn't see his face, but we saw his arms and legs in the air. It was horrific and just scary. About a minute after people realized what was happening, coaches got the players to shield all the fans from seeing what was happening. I have no idea how those kids were able to get back on the field after witnessing what happened. Lots of prayers for Mike today and tonight.
I'm taking my 5 year old son and driving up Friday night. I'm not sure if it's always this hard to get a hotel there, but I just realized last night that this is Indiana's Homecoming!
I've been to a decent number of away games over the years, but I can't remember a team ever having us as a homecoming game!
Hotel rooms are popping up randomly so keep checking. I got one within walking distance of the stadium for $250 that a booked a few days ago - comes with free parking. You can get one now, it will probably be double that so keep checking for a cheaper option. Tripadvisor is always a great site to use because you can search using the map and see what hotels are available around the stadium.
Yesterday, I bought tickets off the official Indiana University Athletics website. 15 rows back on the 50 yard line for $85 each! When I go to away games, I always sit on the Michigan side - unless I splurge and get the club access, all-you-can-eat type ticket. Indiana has a few options for that, but I wanted to get tickets close to the field as this will be my son's first away game.
Also - stubhub currently has a few tickets available that include parking passes. That might be a great option if you haven't purchased either yet.

Having divisions prevents us from playing anybody in our own division twice. I'm not a fan of the divisions, but isn't that worth keeping them?
