Isn't he about to finish his MSW at Michigan?

this whole thing makes very little sense.  but it should also be of very little concern.  he was not a contributor on the defense, and our new defensive staff will almost certainly be changing signals, in which case Joey won't have much (if any) useful info to give them that they can't learn from watching game film.

First convo:

Coach Day: "We're here to talk about toughness"

Joey: "What about it coach?"

Day: "Well, I want to understand what people mean, when they say toughness. Do you know?"

Joey: ... (transfers back to UM)

Best of luck to you Joey.  Everyone don't get made at the young man.  He's a grad-transfer.  He gave us 5 good years.

Best of luck in your future endeavors, Joey!!!!

Good luck! It is home town, Columbus but not sure if he'll get that much more playing time.

He is a small LB/strong safety hybrid.

We should expect more of these sort of moves in the future in the modern world of NIL, etc.

Top players with a realistic shot of playing in the NFL would be unlikely to "wait" for their chance if they don't break into the line up after 2 years.

Some others who are dreamers and who were big splashes in high school may also bolt hoping a change of scenery will refresh their chances.

Michigan maybe doing the smart thing in the long run by focusing on developing the lines. This is a process that is acknowledged to take both time and skillful training.

No problem at all with guys who transfer. Big problem with ones who transfer to OSU. Guy must be really bitter he never played. And OSU is only taking him as a spy.

I mean, good luck to him but seems like if you had any dreams of the pros you'd try to get playing time somewhere else.  Feels a bit like Van Sunmeran going to MSU.

I'm guessing he got significant NIL bag to share what he knows about Michigan's play signals. I am also guessing that this is completely fine as far as the NCAA is concerned.

Doesn’t burn bridge for me. Do as you like Velazquez. Not sure why this stuff is a big deal now-a-days. Been going on in Bball for a while with Spike, Bielfeldt, hell, good ol’ Dakisch (sp) to Ohio State. Adapt or cry is my mantra for this board.

Y’all can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Harbaugh is first coach in history to take some assistants with him to new job. Unprecedented

I have no idea why he even went to Michigan in the first place. Like, why pay out-of-state tuition to ride the bench on Michigan's football team instead of riding the bench on OSU's? He seems like a baseball player primarily. Then I thought "maybe because the Michigan baseball program was coming off of a legendary CWS run?" Then why not transfer after the UM baseball coach left in summer 2022? "Give the new coach a chance?" He didn't transfer summer 2023 either. I would be much less confused if this had happened anytime sooner but transferring now just makes no sense to me.

Nothing against Joey, but I cannot fathom how anyone who listened to all the hate for Michigan pouring out of Columbus for the last 4 years he was in school could ever decide, yeah, sure I want to play for THOSE people.
