Maybe Minnesota sucks

Bummer to see Minnesota in a dogfight with Maryland right now, the Maryland team that lost 45-3 to Northwestern.  Maryland has put up almost 600 yards on Minnesota as they are down 31-38 in the middle of the 4th quarter.

If tanner would have pulled the ball on the zone read a few times in the 4th they win the game. Reminds me of Patterson last year. I thought he was the worst zone read q.b. Looks like I might have been wrong.

A definite possibility but I think this one was more to do with coaching and Minnesota completely turtling after they went up 17 in the 4th, just tried to run the clock out the entire quarter

Not mayb Minnesota sucks... this is why it frustrates the hell outta me with this whole offensive philosophy. Clearly the team is trash and their defense is beyond trash. Open up the offense and let Milton pass for 40+ attempts. It’s the only way he will ever be able to beat Ohio state. Tomorrow against Michigan state let Milton throw it and throw it consistently. If he fucks up we ain’t beating Ohio state anyways. Harbaugh won’t do any of this. Instead he’ll run the ball 30 times and brag about how amazing our oline is then we play a team with a pulse we can’t run and Milton looks confused. It’s the same shit over and over....please prove me wrong tomorrow

We're all exhausted from losing to OSU, but this being your takeaway from a poorly coached, poorly played Minnesota - Maryland Friday night game is a bit unhinged. Minny probably sucks, and OSU is probably more talented than UM, but let's not take a transitive approach to the rest of the season without even playing it.

While I don't disagree with all your points, this take is a bit more OSU PTSD then just accepting that college football performance (especially outside the top 3-5 teams in the country) is extremely unpredictable.

Giving him 10 more reps against a shit defense isn’t going to make him any less lost when he plays against a good one. He gets enough reps between games and practices that an extra 10 against a bad D isn’t going to make a damn bit of difference. The fact that this has to be explained to you amazes me.

Yep.

RX's hatred of the running game is interesting. The running game *is exactly how you beat Ohio State* and control the clock and pace of that game. You want a track meet, kid? Maybe resting your defense is a good idea too.

Against a team that is probably more talented you grind that game a bit and (obviously) balance passing, QB runs (having a QB willing to run on the option to take the free yards does seems nice). If you can punch them in the mouth with your offensive line over four quarters then you do it.

It's not Madden.

Yes, and Michigan broke in a brand new starting QB and four starting offensive linemen.  We missed three FGs and left maybe 6 to 14 points on the field.  We beat Minnesota's butts soundly on the road and demolished the 3 point spread.  Year 2 of Gattis' system is starting to pay dividends.  And Don Brown will be Don Brown against any B1G foe that is not OSU.  Michigan is pretty good this year.

As others have said, this is college football and the transitive property mostly does not work.  We are going to run MSU back to E Lansing.  Milton will get 200+ yards through the air and the running game will amass 250+ on the ground.  Sparty will get a TD, maybe two, and a FG or two at best.

Sticking with my score prediction from another thread: Michigan 41, MSU 10.

We might not know anything about our team until we play Penn State. Minnesota was clearly overrated, msu is terrible, Indiana isn’t very good (PSU had more than twice as many yards than the Hoosiers, but made way too many mistakes and still should’ve won), Wisconsin won’t have a QB if we even play, Rutgers is Rutgers, and then we finally play a team with a pulse and we’ll find out what kind of team we have. I’m not complaining and I’ll gladly take a 5-0 record and a top 10 (maybe top 5) ranking.
