This will be your thread for hot takes and snowflakes about the defense and defensive playcalling.

ABC didn’t let us see the pick 6 so fuck them!

Besides that the defense was great until MD went to their diamond formation.

If Dwumfours injury is bad were in trouble. DL Depth isnt nearly as deep as we'd like. Unless we move Rashan inside which I think would be the best move, It'll be a very thin line.

I wouldn't call Mo Hurst a hole plugger. Gary would be able to utilize his quickness at a 3 Tech a lot better than as an edge rusher. He just doesn't have a refined skillset as an edge rusher yet, and is much more of an athlete than a pass rusher. I'm not saying he's a bad player by any means, but I think he'd be significantly better as a 3Tech

This conceit I'm seeing in comments that somehow Gary is playing out of position is hilarious. And by hilarious I mean, completely without merit. You're saying that Jim Harbaugh, Don Brown, and Greg Mattison, guys who have decades of experience and (particularly in the case of Mattison) have conclusively proven their ability to identify and develop DL talent, are somehow misusing a first round draft prospect? One that, while not the dominant force we hoped for this season, has still performed with excellence throughout his time here?

That's insane. But it's popping up in this thread with people talking like it's obvious.

Please tell me Kemp is ok. And that dwumfour wilo be ok - just when he was becoming dangerous. Where is Solomon and what's his return timetable ? Ugh. Wtf injuries.

Uneducated guesses but:

I doubt Dwumfour's okay. Getting carted off is never a good sign.

Kemp looked like it was just a cramp or gassed out.

Solomon has been projected to return next weet or the week after.

Once again, obviously no inside knowledge.

Hmm. He got rolled on hard by Jeter. It looked like a classic ankle or knee. I just went back and rewatched the play a few more times. The leg still looks awkward but he may have caught his hand/arm on Jeter when he tried to brace himself going down. Either way, hopefully he and Dwumfour are both back soon if not next week.

I probably have to rewatch it, but if I'm remembering the correct injury it looked like Kemp got rolled a bit, not too seriously. One of those ankle tweaks that hurts like crazy for five minutes and you walk off.

I hope so. Kemp seems better at run D than Dwumfour, he's more important in the next two weeks. But just plain depth is going to be huge--Wisconsin is not generally a tempo team, so you can sub guys, but their OL will wear our DL out and we need a good rotation.

It's time for Mone and Marshall to play the games of their career.

DL depth really being tested. Dwumfour looks out for the year, hopefully Kemp/Gary can come back healthy soon. Other than that great job by the defense keeping their assignments.

How does ABC not even bother providing a legit replay of the pick6? SMH

D line depth is getting scary thin.

A majority of their yards and points came in junk time after the D checked out mentally.

Brandon Watston's INT was cool BC he defended to perfection the sort of rub routes that have been a problem in prior games...

So, a cool pick 6 that also will make opposing OCs pause a bit before thinking M is weak at defending that play.
