I feel bad for Terrence Williams in all this, who was tackled by a Wiscy assistant coach, punched by Neath, got trampled a bit, and got suspended for his troubles because he finally fought back.

I think Howard deserved to be suspended for the rest of the regular season but the fact that nobody on Wisconsin save for Neath is missing a game is crazy to me.  It basically sends a message that you can by physical with other coaches and players as long as you don't throw the first punch, which seems like a bad message to send.

Fair to lenient punishment. They should’ve added post season since it’s a wash at this point and Juwan could take a different approach with a longer break.
Big name coach at a prestigious university just cannot cross the line regardless of the situation - even if he was defending a player or another person physically confronted him.
He needs to get help and make changes since this has to be a final chance. He could start with a personal policy of ignoring little weasels in the handshake line.

I think Howard is a fine coach and person who needs to work on his self restraint. That said five games seems light after the Maryland incident. But that a depends if the suspension includes practices as well, if it does than I think it's plenty. In my opinion, the rest of regular season and big ten tournament games is suitable but still allow him to attend practices.

I also think there should have been a game suspension on the Wisconsin side.

A couple things, I'm glad Juwan's is still our coach and that he didn't get fired.  Secondly, I so hope we draw them or run into them in the Big Ten Tourny.  I want all that smoke.

Juwan should have stayed away from coaching until he addressed things. He could not have reached this age and not realized that self control and violent outbursts were a potential issue for him. Unfortunate.

We didn't need the Trohls of Wisconsin to get under Juwan's skin. And that's more frustrating than anything - the Krabenhofs, Davisons, Gards of the world have no business being spoken in the same sentence. Juwan got gooned by goons, and now we give them the upper hand in the media. Gard started the whole fracas then stepped away and watched. Krabenhof jumped in and went aggro at our players, then Davison and Gard stepped up and talked smack after the cops cleared it out. Almost like it was a totally coordinated goon job...

Juwan's had a tough last year personally, losing close friends & family to COVID. He's under more pressure than ever. I love Juwan, if he needs some counseling then I know he's got the best resources in AA. And I got his back. But it's going to be tough sledding with refs and opposing coaches. Lots of goons on the sideline in the B1G...

The comments by the announcers are so funny to me. He got his bell rung, Wisconsin is setting the tone, maybe should have been a foul. Joe is what he is and has continued to be what he is. I’m just sorry he was able to pull Juwan into his world.

The best part of this video, and about some comments that I’ve read on Juwan and the situation that is currently happening, is nobody here would refer to Joe as a thug. Right? Nobody would comment that what he did was way out of line, it was just setting the tone. All I’m trying to say without going into some massive essay is that it’s so clear the double standard we still have today.

Joe gets by time and time again with actions that he shouldn’t. Why did Joe not get suspended? He’s clearly the person that pushed this past where it was. Juwan was clearly backing off until Joe stepped in and said what he said. Joe was raised with privilege and there was never any consequences for his actions. Wisconsin basketball raised him and taught him that his actions are OK. And currently the Big Ten is telling him the same. Why does he always get a pass? The point I’m making should be pretty clear. People want to act like there is no double standard or privilege in the US anymore and they’re clearly wrong. Just like Gard was wrong when he thought he could treat Juwan like he was one of his players or lesser than.

That’s all I have to say. Well I’ll throw this in for fun, loads of guys I know in the Big Ten know Joe. 90% of them want to punch Joes light out and he’s a huge racist. not excusing what Juwan did, but sometimes people get what’s coming is all I have to say on that. I’m seriously done, because the situation doesn’t sit well with me. IU basketball hates going to Wisconsin because they feel Wisconsin is crazy dirty. And so do many other programs.

Five games.  What a joke.  He was the aggressor in every way.  He didn't "need to protect" himself from anything.  When the Wisconsin coach put his hand up, only a total Michigan homer would think that it was aggressive.  No reasonable person would have felt threatened.  Juwan is the one who made it physical.

I have watched the video over and over in regular speed and in slow-mo… I honestly can’t rationalize how people can say Wisconsin’s asst. coach was the instigator without some DEEP Maize-colored glasses.

The guy was getting in-between Michigan and Wisconsin staff/players and trying to push everyone away from each other. None of the angles look like he was aggressively trying to knock down a Michigan player. Then he gets smacked in the face, and obviously gets angry from it, and starts to be an instigator then.

Maybe if we can get some sound clips, and see what exactly he is saying, but from a physical standpoint, he isn’t doing anything outrageous prior to get hit by Howard.

Pretty much what I thought. He needs to channel Harbaugh 2019/20 and check out a bit then come back full force focused on his team not the other teams.

One thing I want to add in all this crazy. I'm glad no one got hurt. I don't condone fighting , violence is a last resort. However I must say I'm proud of the Michigan Wolverines, even the ones throwing them hands. IMO these are some good kids, they play hard and play the right way. They were there to defend each other. There was no one out there to take advantage of a being in a brawl. It was nice to see the fight in these kids. Now learn from it, and let's win a few more games!

Should be fired immediately.we lost a great football coach gary Moeller for have some drinks and arguing with wife that I think cheated on him.that was on his own personal time.they fired him right away.this was 2nd time Howard's been out of control after game.get rid of him and bring in coach with some class.

I think the suspension is probably a little light and Howard did get off a bit easy...I was expecting a suspension of the B!G tournament as well.

I did not think Howard would, nor should, be fired over the incident however...

The mods should add in an ignore button imo...just because people can't respond in this thread doesn't mean it simply won't carry over into another thread next game...

This has clearly been a very frustrating season for Juwan. He bought in these highly touted players and was a top ten ranked team only to watch those players largely prove themselves vastly over rated. In situations like this I usually hold the believe that if you don't like getting punked at the end of a game then play better and don't get yourself in those situations. Unfortunately,  I believe it was the assistant at Wisconsin who escalated the situation. He was clearly spouting off to Juwan and pushed a couple of the Michigan players in the process so he probably got what he deserved.. And by the way, what he got was not a "punch". All these people claiming that Juwan should be fired because he threw a punch at the guy obviously don't know what a punch is. Juwan slapped the guy upside the head, Sure Juwan needs to control his emotions better but something tells me if Juwan was to really throw a punch you would notice a significant difference.

I agree with the rest of the season suspension for Howard but Krabbenhoft not getting anything is absolute horseshit. He instigated and put his hands on opposing players in a physical manner. Just like there is no excuse for Howard's swipe there is also no excuse to physically put your hands on an opposing player as a coach unless you are doing so in legitimate self defense. How the league could look at how Krabbenhoft behaved and  give him nothing defies reason.

Delusional people still posting about Krabbenhoft and saying he shoved our players. Please link said shoving? If you can’t, could you choose a better narrative to spew?  Makes us look stupid.

As a lifelong Michigan fan and alum, this entire incident is embarrassing.  An unhinged basketball coach, a deluded fan base…I will no longer defend the University of Michigan.

Logged in just to see what the homer fanbase was saying about their coach. Gotta say that I am surprised at how many level headed comments I have read. You all know very well that if this was an Ohio State coach that you all would be calling for his head on a platter. Hmmmmm anyone remember Woody???? All I can say is wow...5 whole games....good luck with your coach. I guess some of you were right when you have said in the past that your AD has no balls. LOL

@ darker blew   ....LOL is that all you got.....this aint football, and BTW we just owned your ass for the last 10 years. Get ready for some more woodshed beatings. I was trying to be civil and truely was shocked at several posts from rational fans from your school. Once again you show how classless the socalled "michigan man" can be. I also find it funny ho far you can fall from one year to the next.....Just goes to show how special team chemistry can be. Hunter Dickenson should have gone pro when his stock was through the roof. Now he is stuck on a middling team that wil be lucky to make the NIT.....LOL
