Just like football perhaps?
Could hockey team follow a parallel destiny to football with the CFP, and make it third time the charm in the Frozen Four? While the previous two teams were probably more talented, this one feels a lot more frisky and capable of sneaky up on people
Good to have at last a strong non-revenue sport to attach to this offseason for enjoyment
Just getting this out of the way since you brought it up.
The last time we won a football national championship...
Lol yup, this.
I would say “JUST LIKE FOOTBALL 👏👏👏” but Michigan State hockey actually scored

I do believe men's hockey is a revenue sport for UM. Football and basketball being the other two. Correct me if I am wrong. Either way, GO BLUE!

I believe they are just under being on the positive side most seasons… but really that has more to do with Yost’s limited capacity. If Yost had say 7000 seats versus 5800, it’d be a different story.
Regardless relegating them to “non-revenue” sport doesn’t feel right as they generate a ton of money but it’s a really expensive, if not most expensive sport, when considering facility and equipment costs.

A shame they got rid of so many seats just to add premium seating
What's a rerun?

Hockey makes a profit, I believe.
It makes money but does not make a profit. $-650,143 NET PROFIT/LOSS. But that does not change the fact that it is a revenue-generating sport, with $3,814,113 in revenue. Actually, all Michgian sports generate some revenue but come nowhere near covering the cost associated with running them, except football and men's basketball, which are both profitable.

The best parallel is that the '97 hockey team was dominant and lost and the scrappy '98 team that wasn't expected to do much went in and won it all. With the way the team & Barzo have looked the last two games you absolutely can win it all.

Plinko more so than football, so yeah. I did not think BC looked unbeatable, and if we can get another stout performance from Barzo, we’ll be a really tough out for them.

I went to Miami and thought we might pull it off. We were embarrassed.
I went to Phoenix and though there was no way we could lose. I was heartbroken.
I went to Los Angeles thinking we could win but was the least optimistic of the above. I was ecstatic.
I went to Houston and we won everything.
I had tickets to Boston but had to cancel the day before. Watched us lose to Denver in Overtime from Ireland and I think I sat on the floor staring into space for hours after.
Went to Tampa last year and was crushed.
Bought my tickets for Minneapolis in October. Third time has to be a charm. I'm so ready.

Similar boat...hoping this is the turning point like it was after the CFP losses. Last Frozen Four games I've attended were Duluth, Notre Dame, Denver - all varying forms of heartbreak.
This Frozen Four kind of feels different. In a way it's like the opposite of the way football goes. 2 years ago we had like the best college hockey team imaginable. It felt inevitable we would win...until we didn't.
Last year's team didn't seem as good but we had a fairly decent draw for the SF and I felt pretty confident. And then we didn't.
This year we're probably the least likely of the 4 teams to win if you ask the oddsmakers (are there even NCAA hockey odds lol) but we aren't that much worse than the other 3 teams so it's certainly feasible we can win it.
We are tied with Denver at +450 to win, which is the worst odds. BC is favored by 1.5 goals at +130 (-166), which means the money thinks Michigan is more likely to cover, but BC will win outright. (I used DraftKings; there could, of course, be some different lines).

If Barcewzski continues this stellar play like tonight then we have a shot.

Hard to remember a netminder for Michigan looking as confident as he did tonight. Hunwick for sure. Can't remember if any of the guys since were as steady. Barzo looked like he feared nothing tonight and really neither goal was on him

I sure hope so

The thought of my MSU buddies losing their minds is fun.

Yeah one of my buddies was sure getting a big head after winning those conference titles, but he really hated the thought of having to play us again. To his credit, he has been a diehard hockey fan through their lean times, so I feel for him ever, and I mean ever so slightly, but I couldn't stomach the thought of MSU coming out of nowhere to win it all, and taking us out along the way. He will be so pissed when I see him at my kids soccer practice tomorrow. I sure as hell won’t be :)

I really want this. If given a choice of Michigan hockey winning 2 more games this season or Michigan football repeating as national champions, I would take this.
Not sure I would've said the same thing before the start of the season, but at this point I want a hockey championship more than any other sport.

Can't we have both?

Looking good Billy Ray.
Feeling good Lewis.

1998 was my (5th year) senior year. I hope the 2024 class gets the same experience.
Mine too! Agreed. 2 hockey titles and a football title. Good time to be a student.
"While the previous two teams were probably more talented, this one feels a lot more frisky and capable of sneaky up on people"
You don't hear "frisky" applied to teams much anymore. It's refreshing.
We went through -
#2 The Ohio
#16 Iowa
#4 Bama
#2 Wash
To win it all
Hockey (so far) went through
#6 Minny (likely solidifying a spot in the bracket)
#5 N. Dakota
#4 Staee
and now will need to go through #1 then either #2 or #3.
I'd say it's pretty parallel.
Can throw in the roadie vs #10 PSU as well.
Bet.
