It’s interesting how winning…

It’s interesting how winning has led this board to having more and more threads that read like they belong on RCMB & 11W. Who the hell cares. This is lil bro behavior.

I don’t think the senior day…

I don’t think the senior day or classification matters. Mike Sainristil, Michael Barrett, Trevor Keegan, and Trente Jones were all classified as seniors and honored on Senior Day in 2022 but all returned for 2023.

I meant north end zone not…

I meant north end zone not south end zone. Haven’t had any coffee today and here I am mixing up simple cardinal directions.

Yeah the OP has definitely…

Yeah the OP has definitely gotten drunk off too much maize & blue kool aid. It’s the same people on here who talk about JJ like he’s the most perfect NFL QB prospect ever like they forgot about all the balls he threw behind or over the heads of open receivers or struggling to quickly process zone defenses at times. Will Johnson (barring injury) is the only player on the list who’s a reasonable lock for first round. Projecting any other player as an early or mid 1st rounder isn’t taking the maize & blue glasses off. They’ll need incredible seasons this year to make their way in.

Usually it’s two on defense…

Usually it’s two on defense and two on offense. And generally seniors. I’d go Moore + Paige and then Edwards + either Mullings or a senior OL.

He’s pinned to the top of…

He’s pinned to the top of Ryan Day’s iMessage didn’t you know?

Uhh yes, he’d be upgrade…

Uhh yes, he’d be an upgrade from Mike Hart in that regard who for as good as he was coaching on field, Jordan Marshall was the only national blue chip recruitment that he won. Alford was at the helm while OSU brought in Mike Weber, JK Dobbins, Trevyon Henderson, and most recently James Peoples in this last cycle. Also found under scouted gems like Master Teague & Miyan Williams.

JUB throwing “but know one…

JUB throwing “but know one knows anything” behind any single tweet is getting infuriatingly annoying. Just say you don’t really have the inside sources you used to.

Nothing like having a few…

Nothing like having a few drinks outside in the sun during the afternoon/evening at Bill’s Beer Garden should the weather comply. Biercamp has some excellent pulled pork & brisket sandwiches, brats, smoked sausage, along with my favorite thing on the menu: the “backwoods tots” which are tater tots topped with the aforementioned pork or brisket as well as onion, sweet jalapeño mustard, pickles, and coleslaw. They’ve got some of their own beers on tap which are solid.

A player who isn’t getting…

A player who isn’t getting drafted after 4 or 5 seasons likely won’t be getting drafted after returning for a 5th or 6th year either. Some guys just want to start the next stage of their lives and get their non football careers started.

As was

As was Shea’s back in the day

I think there’s some maize…

I think there’s some maize and blue blinders on. He definitely struggled to read zone defenses during his time here and Kurt in this video even finds man defenses against which JJ doesn’t read fast enough or hesitates with the ball or has issues with technique (I think because we won the natty and went undefeated we forget about some of his throws he airmailed or threw behind receivers during the dogfight stretches of the OSU, Bama, and Washington games to wide open receivers that you just can’t miss in the NFL). He would be best served by sitting for at least a year or two behind a veteran QB

As much as I love JJ, this…

As much as I love JJ, this would be a fireable offense for Brad Holmes. They’ve got a window right now and so many needs on defense that they have to go CB or DL in the 1st round over a developmental QB.

Yeah really hope he and his family are well. At this stage of the coaching carousel I can’t see him leaving because he’s disgruntled with his role since there aren’t many openings in the way of lateral moves or promotions.

Wink appears in MCommunity…

Wink appears in MCommunity now. As mentioned in the mgoblog roundtable, U-M has significantly strengthened their background check process in the wake of Stallions, Shemy Schmebechler, Matt Weiss, and Bob Shoop which is why it’s taken much longer to get official announcements out for anyone that isn’t an internal promotion.

Yep, DJ’s is amazing. And you’re helping support a mom & pop business of a family who immigrated fleeing from Cambodia during the Cambodian-Vietnamese War; it’s a win-win where you get to save money compared to Zingermans and DJ’s could use your money a lot more than Zingermans could. They’ve got some Asian inspired parts of their menu as well with Vietnamese iced coffee and Thai iced coffee.

Thank you. One of my biggest…

Thank you. One of my biggest pet peeves on this board are people who actually wish ill upon the university itself sans sports. Or jokes you’ll see from Michigan fans like “I’m voting for the worst candidates for MSU BoT so they get run into the ground”. Only about 3.5-4k of each incoming freshman class are from the state of MI (I’ve got a lot of thoughts on the declining % of in state students when schools of similar stature in similar sized states like UVA & UNC show it’s possible to have 66% & 80% of their undergrad in state without any tangible effect on their prestige and leads to a much more diverse student body than U-M). That means of the remaining 90k graduating high school seniors each year, 9k of them attend MSU. It’s very important to the future of the state that MSU is run well and continues to grow in academic stature (it’s come a LONG way from how it was viewed nationally from the 60s-90s whether U-M fans want to admit it or not),

2008 football season. At the…

2008 football season. At the time we thought it was a transition stage for Michigan football and there was hope better seasons were on the horizon. A downright horrendous season coming multiple years into a coaching tenure with a clear downward trend over the span of the tenure along with complete apathy from fans? This is more like 2014 or 2020 Michigan football.

I’d wager it was Graham or…

I’d wager it was Graham or Grant. Will Johnson is a SE MI native who’s a legacy who will forever be a legend in his home state after winning a national title with an INT in both the OSU & natl title games. He’s already solidified himself as a top 10 pick next year. He wasn’t ever leaving

Cade was still a better QB…

Cade was still a better QB for the 2021 team. Took what the defense gave him, got us into the right play pre snap, and barely took sacks or turn the ball over which meant we were always on schedule and hardly behind the sticks. I wouldn’t have trusted Shea to do the same.

They would still be stopping…

They would still be stopping the clock after 1st downs in the final 2 mins of each half.

I for one would be happy if…

I for one would be happy if they adopted the NFL’s down by contact rule.

I’m not sure how I feel…

I’m not sure how I feel exactly about Bellamy as a WR coach, both as a recruiter and on field coach. Say what you want about Gattis as a OC or play caller, but he really knew how to recruit WRs and coach them. All of the WRs that were big parts of our run the last 3 years were recruited by Gattis and now we’ve got a pretty unproven & inexperienced WR room (even Tyler Morris was recruited by Gattis). There were times the last two seasons where our WRs struggled to get separation against non marquee opponents (since we save our big RPS plays for the 3-4 big games each season and just run vanilla stuff against everyone else). This recruiting cycle will be enormous for Bellamy at the WR spot and we’ll see how the WR room progresses on the field.

I think he just was broken…

I think he just was broken from the two seasons at Ole Miss where he was running for his life behind an atrocious OL. If his 1st read wasn’t open as he hit his back foot in his dropback, he’d immediately bail from a clean pocket, sometimes running himself into pressure or sacks. He was incapable of trusting his OL in order to step up and climb the pocket.

Except it’s not a fixed…

Except it’s not a fixed number in perpetuity in the UCL. It changes based on the relative strength of each league based on the prior 5 seasons of performance. This proposal for a guaranteed 4 teams for the B1G & SEC each season for perpetuity regardless of performance is insanity.

Taco shouldn’t have been…

Taco shouldn’t have been taken in the first round. Cowboys fans were rightfully pissed about the reach. I wonder if he could’ve had a decent career if he was taken in later rounds so he didn’t have the weight and expectations that come with being a first rounder for the Cowboys.

Anyone selling a pair of tix…

Anyone selling a pair of tix to tomorrow’s game against ND?

I honestly wouldn’t mind ads…

I honestly wouldn’t mind ads on the field and in the bowl of the stadium if it was a trade to cut out all the commercial breaks. Like the ads in European soccer on jerseys and “in-stadium” (there’s actually no physical in stadium advertising from my trips Man United’s Old Trafford and Liverpool’s Anfield, it’s all done virtually for TV broadcast) can be a bit much but hey at least you only deal with one 15 minute long commercial break bookended by ~50 minutes of game. But knowing the way American entities run, it’d be on-field and in-stadium commercials in addition to seemingly infinite commercial breaks. So keep those ads out of the Big House.

Speculation about which…

Speculation about which players may declare for the NFL draft (which is based on a player’s production & potential and NFL draft mocks/projections) is a bit different than baseless speculation about whether a player might transfer considering there’s zero intel or reporting to go off

Texas also lost 90% of their receiving production, their 1k+ yard RB projected for the 2nd round, and, most importantly, their projected 1st round & 2nd round DTs.

Down to Houston Texans…

Down to Houston Texans safety coach Stephen Adegoke (was a staffer at Michigan 2019-21) and Louisiana DC Lamar Morgan (was a DBs coach for Minter at Vandy in 2021 and Sam said he was on Minter’s shortlist if Clink or Jay ever moved on)

Most importantly, one of those two was a head to head win over Ohio State. The 120th ranked player in the country I believe.

It’s funny how people…

It’s funny how people respect & trust the opinions of people who know football but not well enough to be employed as a coach more than the opinions of coaches themselves.

Notice how those were all in the first 2 years of his tenure

Mike Macdonald had zero on…

Mike Macdonald had zero on-field coaching experience in college (was just a GA & staffer in college) and loathed recruiting, worked out alright? A veteran coach as DC who’s schematically sound when breaking in a new head coach whose expertise is on the offensive side of the ball is exactly what we needed. You can make up for a coordinator not being a voracious recruiter when the rest of the staff is all made up of energetic recruiters and because Sherrone will reportedly be a lot more involved as an active recruiter at the HC position than Harbaugh was. Also, this is likely a one year stop gap for Cullen (like Macdonald) to get a DC job in the NFL (Macdonald wanted him as DC in Seattle but Macdonald wants to call plays which swayed Cullen to us) so recruiting chops aren’t that big of a deal.

We were about to be 10-1 as…

We were about to be 10-1 as we were pounding Maryland the week before the 2021 OSU game. And he was yet again on Twitter complaining about how different our offense looks compared to OSU (who poured it on MSU earlier that day) and how one offense is in the CFP every year and the other isn’t and how one offense has only lost 3 games in 3 seasons with 2 of them being CFP losses. He’s been really quiet now that we’ve made the CFP 3 years in a row and only lost 3 games in 3 seasons with 2 of them being CFP losses. That idiot better not start mouth breathing too loudly the second he sees adversity during Sherrone’s tenure.

I agree with your blow hard…

I agree with your blow hard statement. He became close with Matt Campbell when he was the head coach of Toledo and Strack always was finding ways to call for Harbaugh’s head the second things went even slightly wrong so that he could push for his buddy Matt Campbell get the job.

The Saban data point is…

The Saban data point is super interesting. Even with all the talent he had, he was still significantly overperforming what would be expected of that talent level thru development & scheme.
