OSU has spent a lot of money this off-season but they seemingly only imported a bunch more skill position guys and secondary help but also decided to bring in the one bad offensive lineman from Alabama and little else.  Still feels like Day doesn't know how to build a full team and is going to see if "cohesion" is overrated compared to top-level talent.  They may just have enough to make it work but this is also starting to feel a bit like TAMU or Miami where they're going to just stockpile duplicative skill sets and hope one wins out.

When Ryan Day loses to Michigan again next year in Columbus, after attempting a 50 yard field goal on fourth and short, OSU fans are going to tear the stadium asunder chasing him out.

Where are they getting all the cash?

They will have to come up with it again next year to keep all these guys.

Are they blowing it all this year, in desperation mode?  They are not thinking about next year, they are only worried about surviving this year?

Just saw some billionaire governor I’ve never heard of who spent $12 million on a presidential campaign.   A billionaire spending $13 million is like a millionaire spending $13,000.  It isn’t significant.   In fact it is less than the straight proportion as the billionaire’s daily needs are way more taken care of.  Didn’t Stephen Ross just donate anot$130,000,000?

There is somebody lurking out there that is going to blow all of this up:

The IRS.

That is a TON of money sloshing around without a clear chain of custody.

And if there are no actual contracts being signed, just promises made, there are going to be many temptations (or incompetence) to underreport this income.

Forget NCAA suspensions, some people are going to go to jail.

Pay for play is an ncaa violation yet teams like miami texas am ohio state just blatantly write checks to these players without repercussions. NCAA is such a joke and is so politically motivated they turn blind eye to this and go after burgers because a disgruntled matt dudek blew whistle on a hard working man.

WTF???  Another 5* player committing to the team that hasn’t sniffed a B1G championship in the last 3 years.  Makes lots of sense to me.

Seriously…the folks in AA really need to figure something out.

Well, this isn’t good news.  But, they’ve had five star QB talent and NFL-ready (or better) WRs each of last three years.  Michigan’s culture has gotten it done.  That culture seems to not accommodate guys who “ want the bag.”  Don’t know if that is the case with this guy or not.  But, I don’t think our NIL strategy will change.  I also don’t think it should.

It seems like an angry and desperate alumni base is lashing out with the only means it has right now.

Going all in on a desperate coach and a questionable QB room.

Bold strategy, cotton.

This reminds me of when they signed Stroud in the 2020 class and then in 2021 they signed Ewers and McCord. Too many cooks in the kitchen at the same time. Devin Brown, Noland, Sayin and Will Howard aren’t all going to stay on the team.

Jim Harbaugh is interviewing for NFL jobs after winning his 3rd B1G Championship & 1st NC.  Meanwhile, Cryin' Ryan is desperately buying players from 'bama & bribing players to return, trying to save his job.... what a time to be a Wolverine!

Unless there is an extreme misbalance at skill positions (QB, RB, WR, DBs), most games are won and lost in the trenches. The one guy Ohio brought in has the yips snapping the ball.

They seem to get whoever they want. It's insane that they can get everyone to stay and up the talent level and Michigan hasn't gotten any real buzz from recruits even after winning a national title.

They're both impressive in different ways. I just want Harbaugh to decide already.

All of these transfer portal pulls seem impressive at the surface, but I can’t help but think it will all be for naught.

Ryan Day is a pussy, and his teams will play like pussies as long as he is there.

Gotta love the logic of some of the posters on this board.

Actively improving your roster = “desperation”

Should OSU (or any other team) not be making moves to improve their team?

In the height of BPONE I thought Ewers and Raiola were going to be the OSU QBs to keep the train rolling over MI and competing for NCs. Neither panned out. They can spend all the $ they want...it's not lack of talent...it's culture. You can't just try to build a "super roster" out of guys looking for the highest offer. Urban Meyer teams had more talent than these Day teams, but he also built his own culture of toughness there. 15-20 mil a year for recruits is not sustainable. Especially if Day loses to MI again....then that booster money turns to buyouts and new coaching searches.
