Joe Milton: Antjuan Simmons "wasn't on my radar"

Submitted by UMxWolverines on November 1st, 2020 at 7:03 AM

1. How is their starting LB "not on your radar"?

2. What a backhanded compliment. Just sheds more light on the total lack of respect we seem to have for opponents around here.

It has been interesting to watch the program progress from one under Brady Hoke that did not understand the humility and hard work required to win a championship to one under Jim Harbaugh that does not understand the humility and hard work required to win a championship

If I remember right, he committed to Ohio State early and they got higher rates commits at his position so they rescinded the offer.

Based on mutual agreement, he didn't go to Michigan. I always wondered if the coaches were salty he went with Ohio despite growing up in Ann Arbor or if they had filled out on linebackers by the time he decommitted or it was just a recruiting mess up.

Edit: fixed it for Ohio State, not Alabama

This is a dumb thread and is just what the media does by grabbing just a part of a quote to elicit some response. They failed to leave out that Milton said Simmons was "a heck of a player" and just chose to use he wasn't on my radar. Leave it to the stupid press to try and make a mountain out of a mole hill. This is the least of our problems.

"you are part of the problem"

I get all the criticism of Harbaugh and I have 0 faith in him getting us a conference championship (without OSU imploding anyway), but I feel like that statement has come up more recently and I just want to mention how fucking stupid it is. You make it sound like he's enabling someone's drug addiction or dividing the country when it's just someone defending players or coaches. It's just football. Grow up.

You don't think things like this plus "revenge tour", Higdon guaranteeing a win, little brother, and Don Brown saying OSU "better watch out" last year are a symptom of overall program arrogance?

It seems pretty obvious to me we don't respect the opponent. This is the same shit we used to laugh at guys like David Boston and Terry Glenn for saying.

lol

OSU imploding would just open the door for PSU or Wisconsin. We just lost to a team that got rocked by Rutgers, and not in typical upset-fashion (there was no craziness or unlucky turnovers. They beat us straight up). We'd need half of the conference to implode st the same time to even have a shot!

I couldn't care less what Milton said. He's at the bottom of our long, long list of problems, and Shea wasn't all that bad either in hindsight. This coaching staff is a disaster and it starts with the head guy.

The expression is ‘I couldn’t care less’ - meaning I don’t give a shit and don’t care at all. ‘i could care less’ means ‘I do actually care’ and doesn’t make sense in the context it was used. Trying to correct someone while being 100% wrong is a dead giveaway that a the person saying it doesn’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.

I’m actually defending the media because someone above thinks he is defending a player by blaming someone else for the players mouth. Media has nothing to do with the stupidity that was spewed.

Yes that’s a problem with Michigan fans they want to defend defend defend instead of looking at the truth that is right in front of them.

If you listen to the whole thing, he praises Simmons.  This is the media making a story out of nothing.  But because we're mad at the world over yesterday's game, we're cool with trashing our own player, especially when it's the starting quarterback.

I see neither shade nor lack of respect. I see a coaching staff that failed to prepare their players with actionable information on the opponent.

Something similar to the MGoBlog pregame analysis with all the circles, stars, and Dangerman call outs should be briefed at a minimum. Is it though?

Michigan fans are so miserable.   I am going to be back in front of my TV next Saturday cheering Michigan over Indiana.   Join me or don't.   But goddamn, trashing everything, as if any one of you know what you're doing running or coaching a major college football program, is just pathetic.  Including trashing a young quarterback after his 2nd start when he's actually done quite well.  Get your lives together.

I wouldn’t say we’re trashing milton. It’s more of the offensive gameplan. It was horrendous. You have small speedy guys and yet you do nothin with them in space. The first play of the game last week was a screen to corum That went 25 yards. We saw not one of those yesterday. It was pure garbage. Running into the teeth of the defense every fckin play.

You have proven to be the most miserable of the miserable.   Nobody said you were trashing Joe's play.   But he was being trashed for something he said when interviewed after the game.   Not like this young guy has a ton of experience with the media.

Get a life, dude.   Do something else with your fall Saturdays if a college football team makes you so miserable.   Rake some fucking leaves.

Sorry that I've been trying to point out things that have been wrong with this program for the last 3 years that everybody is starting to finally realize.

I'm not miserable, I just really cannot stand people who don't want to see the truth when it's staring them right in the face.

Michigan plays football, Michigan should be trying to win at football, Michigan frequently fails to win at football for the same reasons over and over and we discuss that here. What are you doing here if you don't want to discuss the problems?

So the QB is not aware of the other team best defensive player, and the top defensive back was only prepared for the run game.

FIRE THE COACH!!!! FIRE THE COACH!!!!!

So you're burning Milton for saying this (which isn't all he said about the guy but you failed to highlight this) but any fan can say "we didn't expect to lose to Michigan St" and that is okay???

Among many problems, posts like this are one of them.

Bad on two counts:

1.  Wasn't prepared at all if he doesn't know the name of the opponents defense leader

2.  Can't be too bright to say this after a defeat because it proves he wasn't focused and prepared.
