HELLO: Alan Bowman, grad transfer QB from Texas Tech
Has decent numbers (almost 65% completions), and can only help the QB room and add valuable experience to the team. WELCOME, Alan!

Really glad to have him! With Milton transferring depth was going to be an issue. Having 4 QBs in the room will help that a lot. I expect McNamara or McCarthy will still be the leaders to start at QB

Not so fast....don't underestimate this kid. Glad he's Blue!
February 28th, 2021 at 3:20 PM ^
Probably should change his name to mcbowman to fit into the QB room
February 28th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
Forgetting the peasan Villari.
February 28th, 2021 at 6:50 PM ^
Crazy that it's so "Mc" based even with McCaffrey gone
February 28th, 2021 at 3:26 PM ^
Highlights...
February 28th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
Highlight reel caveats and all, but he seems like he can connect on the deep ball. It's been too long since we've had a QB that could do that.
February 28th, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
Shea was decent at it...provided the receiver had about 10 yds of separation, otherwise dump it to the flat for a 1 yd gain.
February 28th, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
His play certainly benefits when his receivers actually catch the throws he lands in their hands. .
February 28th, 2021 at 6:34 PM ^
Is that a highlight tape for the QB? #4 the WR making all those plays. Hope he wants to transfer as well.
February 28th, 2021 at 11:33 PM ^
Wow, he looks much better then I expected...nice pickup by the staff. I hope some of this basketball mojo can seep into the football program a bit.
February 28th, 2021 at 8:55 PM ^
I really like this, and have a feeling this will be the most important signing from the portal.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:09 PM ^
Forgot to mention that he has THREE years of eligibility left (because last season didn't count).
February 28th, 2021 at 3:17 PM ^
From the 2018 recruiting class. Same as Joe Milton.
February 28th, 2021 at 4:31 PM ^
Wow, 3yrs. eligibility makes this even bigger pickup. Some nice throws on the highlight reel.
Yep. I was impressed with the touch on a few of those passes. It’s a highlight reel so not sure if he throws like that all the time, but like the way he throws it.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:09 PM ^
Blue were the raiders here!
February 28th, 2021 at 3:15 PM ^
Great pickup! Bowman is pretty electric when he’s not injured and with an good offensive line I think he could be solid.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:22 PM ^
Could wind up being a big deal. You always want QB depth.
February 28th, 2021 at 8:03 PM ^
Exactly what they needed. So bizarre how many posters thought you can’t land a decent backup qb because they all insist on starting. Not true.
February 28th, 2021 at 8:55 PM ^
Agreed. I think this could easily be the most important portal pickup we get, assuming we go after others.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:22 PM ^
This is a great pickup. It was going to have to be a grad-transfer guy who wouldn't mind the oppertunity to get a Michigan degree. Big time help in the qb room with Milton leaving.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:36 PM ^
feel like i've seen this episode before.
in all seriousness, I just found out Milton was transferring today. I blame covid and apathy for my ignorance.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:40 PM ^
This is a better pickup than I expected. Great to have a grad transfer who can stick around.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:42 PM ^
Good addition. Bowman > Milton so we’ve upgraded a bit with this years transfer rodeo
February 28th, 2021 at 3:49 PM ^
Along with some LB depth between now and the summer and that would be a great use of the portal. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
This true freshman numbers are amazing (for a true freshman). Hopefully his regression is more a product of the team he played for than a reflection on anything with him.
February 28th, 2021 at 4:00 PM ^
I like the pickup, but I remember that O'Korn had a great freshman season at UH as well. Hopefully this is not that kind of regression. His highlight video looks promising.
February 28th, 2021 at 5:14 PM ^
If Bowman is anything like Uncle Rico, it's a plus pick-up for Harbaugh.
I'll bet he could throw a football over them mountains.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
His best year was Kingsbury's last year, his freshman year (2018): 69.4%, 2,638 yards, 17 TD, 7 interceptions.
February 28th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
There was a 0% chance we were going to roll with only a few games total experience at QB heading into the season. Seems like an OK pickup.
February 28th, 2021 at 4:01 PM ^
Couldn’t be a better grad pick up for a QB, given our situation. This is a guy who will come in and compete and can only help for several years. It’s not like we are bringing a one-year fix. Cade, JJ. And Bowman actually leaves us in a much better situation than what we went into last year with (once Dylan left).
February 28th, 2021 at 4:56 PM ^
Don't know a lot about the kid, but the program did need someone else at the QB position with the transfer of Milton.
Seems like a good depth more, with some potential of being more than just a body
February 28th, 2021 at 5:08 PM ^
British comedy legend Alan Bowman? Should be a great locker room guy.
February 28th, 2021 at 5:50 PM ^
Is this the kid that was totally lights out for Texas Tech a few years ago before he had a collapsed lung?
February 28th, 2021 at 6:17 PM ^
Good pick up for depth in QB room. Does he have 1 yr or 2 years left? Still think it is McNamara, McCarthy fighting for the QB1 role
February 28th, 2021 at 8:56 PM ^
3 years left which makes this even better.
February 28th, 2021 at 6:24 PM ^
I love the southern pipeline delivering QB crude oil to us up here over the last few years...
February 28th, 2021 at 6:48 PM ^
I'll temper my enthusiasm by reminding myself that I was impressed with John Korn's highlight film, but I definitely like what I see. Looks like a solid addition to the team. I also believe that coach Harbaugh will give him a legitimate chance to win the starting job.
February 28th, 2021 at 7:26 PM ^
As someone with degrees from both Michigan and Texas Tech, I urge everyone not to get too excited.
He has no mobility, extremely poor vision, and he struggles to throw beyond 10 yards. His first 6 games with Kingsbury were great, but he hasn’t been the same since. Injuries have ruined him as a player. I’m shocked Michigan wanted him.
I guess he would be OK as depth, but if he’s playing a lot then things have gone sideways.
February 28th, 2021 at 11:58 PM ^
Uh, yeah not sure why everyone on here loves this.
He throws a football like a third basemen and you say he has no mobility. Great.
Not too exciting from my perspective.
Cade or JJ but maybe this guy can provide some depth?
February 28th, 2021 at 8:08 PM ^
Recruited by Dartmouth, NW, Columbia, Rice and Vandy. You can see why he’d go to Michigan.
February 28th, 2021 at 8:58 PM ^
We've heard this all before. New offensive coordinator, new hot-shot transfer quarterback, new coaches, and nothing changes. Until Harbaugh stops putting his dick in the gears and we see some tangible results, there's no reason to get played yet again.
Ouch.
February 28th, 2021 at 9:42 PM ^
Hell yeah!
RIP Dustin Diamond
February 28th, 2021 at 10:20 PM ^
I hope he is good and given his IVY league offers out of high school he should pick up the system quickly but between the
Interceptions
Arm motion
Lack of mobility
decline in production each year
This feel very much like John O'Korn which makes me wonder why we did not push harder for Jack Coan.
Wait, has he agreed to transfer in for a role as a back up?
I'm pretty sure that was the popular opinion here a week or two ago..... We were only interested in a transfer that wouldn't compete for the starting QB position. LOL....
Welcome aboard, I hope you have a Heisman type season! GO BLUE
