HELLO: Alan Bowman, grad transfer QB from Texas Tech

Submitted by Cousin Larry on February 28th, 2021 at 3:06 PM

Has decent numbers (almost 65% completions), and can only help the QB room and add valuable experience to the team.  WELCOME, Alan!

Really glad to have him! With Milton transferring depth was going to be an issue. Having 4 QBs in the room will help that a lot. I expect McNamara or McCarthy will still be the leaders to start at QB

This is a great pickup.  It was going to have to be a grad-transfer guy who wouldn't mind the oppertunity to get a Michigan degree.  Big time help in the qb room with Milton leaving.

This true freshman numbers are amazing (for a true freshman). Hopefully his regression is more a product of the team he played for than a reflection on anything with him.

Couldn’t be a better grad pick up for a QB, given our situation. This is a guy who will come in and compete and can only help for several years. It’s not like we are bringing a one-year fix. Cade, JJ. And Bowman actually leaves us in a much better situation than what we went into last year with (once Dylan left).

Don't know a lot about the kid, but the program did need someone else at the QB position with the transfer of Milton.

Seems like a good depth more, with some potential of being more than just a body

I'll temper my enthusiasm by reminding myself that I was impressed with John Korn's highlight film, but I definitely like what I see. Looks like a solid addition to the team. I also believe that coach Harbaugh will give him a legitimate chance to win the starting job.

Stimulus Progression

As someone with degrees from both Michigan and Texas Tech, I urge everyone not to get too excited.

He has no mobility, extremely poor vision, and he struggles to throw beyond 10 yards. His first 6 games with Kingsbury were great, but he hasn’t been the same since. Injuries have ruined him as a player. I’m shocked Michigan wanted him.

I guess he would be OK as depth, but if he’s playing a lot then things have gone sideways.

We've heard this all before. New offensive coordinator, new hot-shot transfer quarterback, new coaches, and nothing changes. Until Harbaugh stops putting his dick in the gears and we see some tangible results, there's no reason to get played yet again.

I hope he is good and given his IVY league offers out of high school he should pick up the system quickly but between the

Interceptions

Arm motion

Lack of mobility

decline in production each year

This feel very much like John O'Korn which makes me wonder why we did not push harder for Jack Coan.

Wait, has he agreed to transfer in for a role as a back up?

I'm pretty sure that was the popular opinion here a week or two ago..... We were only interested in a transfer that wouldn't compete for the starting QB position.   LOL....

Welcome aboard, I hope you have a Heisman type season!  GO BLUE
