The Manny specific one was…

The Manny specific one was against Purdue and specifically Kramer.  Game was close and then we got blown out.  I was not a happy camper.

This was my nightmare in…

This was my nightmare in reverse in 2022- so yeah, that'd be pretty cool.

This space has occasionally…

This space has occasionally expressed irritation at Michigan's insistence on treating every opposing quarterback like CJ Stroud. This is because we are dumb.

This gave me an audible chuckle.

So excited for Monday Aghhhhhh

Without looking up any data …

Without looking up any data (as it pertains to how many overtimes games have on average)- it's probably just as beneficial to be going 2nd in the second overtime, if not more due to the 2 point rules.  So if you happen to be tied after the first one and you went first, you get defense second on the side of the field you want (I think) with the knowledge of if they converted the 2 pointer or not.  Same pressure caveats apply.

71/72 Sixers have the worst…

71/72 Sixers have the worst record for a full season with 9-73 and .110 winning percentage.

The 11/12 Bobcats finished 7-59 in the shortened season, with a winning percentage of .106.  Point differential for Charlotte was -13.9.

Pistons are currently at -11.5 Point differential which is actually not even worst in the league (Spurs at -12.3).  The Hornets and Wizards are within striking distance there too.

Obviously the Pistons aren't good, and need to start winning some games to not break the record.  But it's debatable they're even the worst team in the league this year, let alone historically.  Just a crazy streak of futility in a row.

Not disagreeing with…

Not disagreeing with anything here- just laughing at the fact that "dropped off dramatically the past couple of decades" is a legit criticism- but only because so few shows make it one decade let alone a couple.

I don't think it's sarcasm-…

I don't think it's sarcasm- in the sense that there have been OSU "insiders" claiming to expect all these people to return because of crazy NIL packages.

But I agree that it's definitely not happening.

Nothing important, but I…

Nothing important, but I read that as bowel prep, especially with "shit ain't exactly working"

Even with covid eligibility?…

Even with covid eligibility?!?   /s

SP+ isn't perfect but I…

SP+ isn't perfect but I would be very, very surprised if this is ANYTHING like Georgia in '21.  Unless Michigan is the Georgia in that scenario, which I think is quite unlikely too.

So they aren't good, but…

So they aren't good, but they have had a relatively nuts roadtrip (for them, this season).

In their first 10 road games they had 6(!) goals.  They put up 6, 5 and 5 in their last three road games.

Seem to be playing a little better than the team that lost 10-1 to Vancouver.

Slight is underselling it-…

Slight is underselling it- they're 8/9 points on SP+ and FEI

Doesn't mean they'll win, but it's not like this is an analytics full toss-up here.

My wife and I are about the…

My wife and I are about the same amount of time along (due end of April) and yeah, this is really tough to fathom.

"But Florida is so bad!"

"But Florida is so bad!"

The Florida that lost to Mizzou on a last second field goal?  The Mizzou that kept it close against Georgia and for that reason alone is ranked ahead of Penn State?

It's all narrative driven and it's really annoying.  They're still printing articles about how Michigan had the easiest schedule of the playoff worthy teams when their SOR is #1 and SOS is 4th out of the 8 teams.  ESPN is using THEIR OWN DATA points and still being like- Nahhhh.

OSU-6
Texas-13
Bama-31
Mich-36
Wash-46
FSU-56
UGA-59
Ore-62

Last year Roman literally…

Last year Roman literally bobbled a ball into the end zone and they marked him down at the one.

There are very few players…

There are very few players in the history of the NCAA that I have been more sure of them going pro.  It would blow my mind if Harrison stayed.

Interestingly, Auburn was…

Interestingly, Auburn was almost the mirror SP+ of Maryland (before yesterday, I'm sure they moved up a tad).  But Auburn gave both Bama and Georgia their closest conference games.

Georgia Tech is just below....Nebraska and Minnesota.

It's a really interesting…

It's a really interesting situation- ALL SEASON they talked about how Michigan didn't play anyone (at least until there were more "fun" things to talk about).  Then if they turned around and put Bama in over Texas, the message would be "there is no point in scheduling difficult OoO opponents because it doesn't even matter if you beat them head to head".

As a high school buddy of…

As a high school buddy of Mello- Luke always comes through, never fear!

Yeah I usually try to…

Yeah I usually try to corroborate with SP+ since that has Michigan first and I like to agree with things that I enjoy seeing.

Ole Miss/Mizzou are 16/17 on SP+ but 12/9 on Playoff rankings (I know Mizzou is still probably a little hurt by preseason projections).  Tennessee is right at 22.

I do wish Michigan played a few more teams in the Tennesee/Kentucky range, where they're not really a big threat to lose (I understand Maryland is in this range) but can get talked about like it's a quality win- Kentucky is still brought up as quality since they were ranked when they played Georgia.  I do find it funny that Maryland and Auburn are virtually identical in SP+ but since Michigan's happened in week 12, it's far more concerning than Georgia's same type of game against Auburn.

None of this really matters of course.  But the premise that the SEC is overrated even when it was merely okay during non-con is a bit frustrating.

Lol I miss last year when…

Lol I miss last year when there were non-zero amount of rivals suggesting that Michigan was using steroids/performance enhancers and that's why they were dominating second halves.

But this is far funnier.

Easy fix.  Take the data…

Easy fix.  Take the data points that fit your narrative and only use those ones.  The other data points are irrelevant anyways.

Then you get storylines like this.  Signals take forever to change, but TCU changed them and that's why they won, also Michigan didn't scout them enough, but also OSU knew, but it wasn't enough time to fully change signals, but also Michigan's scoring went down this week without Stallions.  It's simple.

Wayyyyy back in the day,…

Wayyyyy back in the day, Lage was on a sports talk show in Lansing called the "Sports Guys".  It was co-hosted by Dave "Mad Dog" DeMarco (who would go on to do sports talk radio in lansing area for ~20 years) and ...my father.  At least DeMarco and my dad were MSU guys, and at some point, they kicked Larry off the show.  I was like 6 or 7 when it happened- but unnecessary long anecdote aside, it just made me smile to see Lage report something positive for Michigan here.

Like ACC/B1G challenge was-…

Like ACC/B1G challenge was- except it's like 8 teams or something.  Really depends on the year and how many Big East teams exist.

Yeah- then defensive…

Yeah- then defensive coordinator being Mike MacDonald for Michigan's game against them.

Hawk Harrelson.  Banetti was…

Hawk Harrelson.  Banetti was essentially so good when he was filling in for Harrelson that they slowly weeded him out.

I mean, Karlaftis picked…

I mean, Karlaftis picked Purdue over Michigan recently.  It happens.

to be fair he had to adjust…

to be fair he had to adjust to that throw quite a bit- I thought he was underthrown when I watched it.

For a while he had the most…

For a while he had the most Expected points added for in game coaching decisions (ie 4th downs, FG or go for it etc.).  The risk of going for it on 4th downs is that, well, sometimes you don't get it.

Can't find the source, but I know I saw it rolling around after the first few weeks (especially when people were upset about some Seattle decisions).

Yeah I've had my eye on the…

Yeah I've had my eye on the vikings all year as a team that could win any game or lose any.  There schedule is easy coming up.

Backup is Nick Mullens but he's on the IR so I believe the consensus is if nothing else changes 5th round rookie Jaren Hall from BYU.  Expectations are NOT that he'll replace Cousins' production, but the same could have been said about Purdy last year so we'll see.

Even reddit/cfb, which has…

Even reddit/cfb, which has been a nightmare the last 10 days, labeled this article "opinion".

There have been...a few…

There have been...a few threads in the last week.  Can you link this, just so I can add to my paranoia?

The amount of people that…

The amount of people that have called him such an idiot for not covering his tracks, like they're off running crazy ponzi schemes that would never get caught, is beyond me.

I couldn't even tell ya how little mental energy I have to look at a tv and try to steal signs from a team, it would take so long.

So like sure, there are funny nuances to things like, man you really should have thought about that etc.- but the amount of general people calling him the dumbest person in the world is just crazy.

All to say- I also empathize with how poor this week must feel for him.

Only problem with creating a…

Only problem with creating a PAC is all the teams would leave to go to other conferences ...../s

50 yard line seats are much cheaper too!

The only problem with this…

The only problem with this is that means they're probably 2 vs. Purdue and Purdue vs. 2 is SP00KY

Was 2018.  2019 we had…

Was 2018.  2019 we had losses to Wisconsin and PSU (the latter very frustratingly) and OSU was undefeated at the time (Actually beat Maryland 73-14 in 2019).

But yeah, I remember watching that and being incredibly bummed.  They also just, missed a 2 point conversion at the end of the game.

The guys at Spectrum think I…

The guys at Spectrum think I'm just some dumb hick.

They said that to me, at a dinner!

TELL SPECTRUM NO, DON'T CUT CORNCOB TV

Nah I don't think so. …

Nah I don't think so.  Actually went to high school with Luke (D'Mello), and he's not one hype himself up like that.  Shit, it was a while before he learned how to embed videos for the board :)

Always makes me happy how much people like his hype videos though!

I go by the unproven theory…

I go by the unproven theory that McCaffrey was never the same after that dirty ass hit from Wisconsin.  One that still annoys me to this day, especially because their were Wisco fans at the bar complaining that the defender got ejected.

Palm Springs does have some…

Palm Springs does have some charm with the mostly outdoor nature.

The priority pass lounge in Punta Cana has a pool, and that's definitely been the most surprising thing I've seen at an airport.

Also for a work travel one, but I haven't seen it mentioned- Istanbul's airport is super new and modern and a sight to see.

why would he fart on sandwiches?  why?

I mean to an extent yes.  It's also the first time the lions have been favored to win the division in the 2000s (unless I'm missing one somewhere), so for the first time, the hope is backed up by people OTHER than lions fans.

To be fair- they couldn't…

To be fair- they couldn't open doors^.  So that could explain the crashing.

They won 9 last year and…

They won 9 last year and clearly improved in the offseason.  They might win less this year, but 9 is absolutely not the ceiling

Buying first house,…

Buying first house, especially when there's very little supply on the market.  Especially because we had to let the sellers stay for a bit extra to appease the timelines and what not- but thus far, it's been entirely worth it.  Especially because we're watching our peers really struggle to find places (Chicago to the Chicago Burbs)

I know reddit isn't immune…

I know reddit isn't immune to extreme bias, but all the comments about his radio appearance were how drunk he sounded, and I could definitely see (hear) that

Crazy that over 1/3 of the…

Crazy that over 1/3 of the NFL has never won the Super Bowl- I thought the NBA would have the least parity since the Pistons are tied for 6th all time with 3.
