Tennessee hasn't won shit in two decades. Not everything is about win/loss record when it comes to recruiting.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
So he picked Tenn because of all the big games they've won this year? Great post.
November 30th, 2018 at 8:56 AM ^
They go away to teams like Tennessee that have sucked for years? Right . . .
November 29th, 2018 at 3:25 PM ^
Bailey is a good talent, but Michigan is still in on a few very good 2020 QBs. I live in Knoxville and believe me.....the Vols need this kid much, much more than UM does and he knows it. Saturday’s ass beating at OSU probably didn’t have anything to do with this recruiting outcome. The chance to play early and play closer to home were probably the biggest factors. UM is fine at QB....any freaking out about not getting him is an over reaction.
November 29th, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
Like if you were a top QB prospect what's the incentive to come here to throw 15-20 passes a game mostly to TE's?
November 29th, 2018 at 3:42 PM ^
I'm going full internet conspiracy theory and am thinking Pep is moving on and this kid got wind of it. I have no facts or information to back this up.
November 29th, 2018 at 3:43 PM ^
I want to believe
November 29th, 2018 at 5:19 PM ^
So you're umbig11
November 29th, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
Maybe we should signal Magnus so he can enlighten us on 2020 QB's
November 29th, 2018 at 4:07 PM ^
Agreed? Are we in on any other 2020 QB prospects? Or take a gap year and land a 2021 top 3 QB recruit?
November 29th, 2018 at 4:21 PM ^
It looks like Parker McQuarrie is our next QB target.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:46 PM ^
6'7 QB? Yeah, this is Gentry 2.0
November 29th, 2018 at 4:05 PM ^
Maybe he wanted to play soon and be allowed to throw the ball when he does.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
OK Cool. Hook em
Oh, the other UT.
Well, Go Vols I guess.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:18 PM ^
Crystal balled to Michigan. Ooops
November 29th, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
Cant believe this guy chose the current Vols team over Michigan. What a dunce. Who wants a kid with the last name Bailey anyway? Sounds like a brittle boned tall skinny white boy still on the tit with no mobility. Guarantee that's what he is. I'm not racist and I'm not black. This team needs a dude who can run and juke. Then when you need it, toss that sucker 60 yards in the air. Don't need any John Navarres back there now days. I'll take DKaff but just give me a Devin Gardner 2.0 with an ounce more athleticism and coaching. Milton is that you yelling?
November 29th, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
It's off that he's committing to a team without an OC, to a HC with a defensive background.
November 29th, 2018 at 11:34 PM ^
Looks like Hugh Freeze might be going to Tennessee as OC.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:21 PM ^
So....Pep to UT is official??
/s
November 29th, 2018 at 4:38 PM ^
Pep to anywhere is fine.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:40 PM ^
Canceled visits are never good.

Maybe in two or three years, Michigan will learn how much this recruiting loss has hurt, but go back three years when Rashan Gary was considered the top-rated prospect in the Class of 2016. Look at the list of top high school quarterbacks in the Class of 2016 rated by 24/7 Sports. LINK How many of the top 20 QB's on that list have had a significant impact for the teams with which they signed?
Shea Patterson (1), Jacob Eason (2), Malik Henry (4), Brandon McIlwain (9), Jack Allison (10), Patrick O'Brien (15), Woody Barrett (16), Zerrick Cooper (17), Messiah DeWeaver (18) and Devon Modster (20) aren't playing for the teams that signed them. That's half of the top 20, and Brandon Peters (6) is rumored to be on transfer watch from Michigan and Jalen Hurts (13) might have to decide whether to stay at Alabama.
Among the other QB's on that list are Notre Dame's Ian Book (35), Iowa's Nathan Stanley (37), Oregon's Justin Herbert (43) and Indiana's Peyton Ramsey (78). They seem to have worked out reasonably well for the teams that signed them, despite not having been rated in the top 20.
Besides, how many of the top-rated high school quarterbacks and wide receivers in the Class of 2020 could be looking at Michigan's offense under Jim Harbaugh and his assistants and thinking, "Yeah, THAT's the place where I can show off my talents for the NFL"?
In fact, considering how Harbaugh is willing to take quarterback transfers and the rate at which top-rated quarterbacks seem to be bailing on the teams where they first sign, it could very well be that in 2020, Michigan will be looking to add another transfer quarterback, instead of worrying that Harrison Bailey rejected Michigan's offer.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:48 PM ^
Those are all fair points. Speaking of transfers, anyone know where Kelly Bryant is going?
November 29th, 2018 at 5:27 PM ^
FlightAware says Ann Arbor.
November 29th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
What was haskins rated?
November 29th, 2018 at 5:26 PM ^
4* out of Maryland. Rated 7th pro style.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:53 PM ^
That’s what happens when you loose and give up 60 and continue to run up the middle in the late 3rd and 4th quarter when it’s 2nd and 10... very disappointing
November 29th, 2018 at 5:59 PM ^
I'm sure the "loose" to OSU that dropped us to 10-2 is EXACTLY what made him want to join a Tennessee program that just wrapped up back to back "loosing" seasons.
November 29th, 2018 at 5:28 PM ^
Bailey would have been a nice pickup. He reminded me of Brandon Peters with his size and mobility. Good arm, average athleticism. Apparently Bailey is a good leader. I would like to see us keep recruiting more guys like, Patterson, Milton, McNamara and McCaffrey. Guys with above average mobility and strong arm. If you wonder why one of the reasons Andrew Luck was so successful, he was a much better athlete than most people realize.
November 29th, 2018 at 6:28 PM ^
I'm hearing that there are a few factors in why he picked UT:
- Playing time. Tennessee is pretty thin at QB right now and the guys they have are all 3*s
- I've heard Bailey is considering reclassifying to 2019, and obviously that would work out better at UT based on the QB situation
- Pep Hamilton having an uncertain future
November 29th, 2018 at 6:31 PM ^
How far has Tenn fallen when my first thought was Texas and the second was Utah?
November 29th, 2018 at 6:47 PM ^
we have McCaffrey, Milton, McNamara all in waiting... actually I figured a high rated QB wouldn't want to be behind that, and we'd have a year pause.
November 29th, 2018 at 7:36 PM ^
Good for him. We'll be OK. Wish him luck.
November 29th, 2018 at 7:38 PM ^
His mother wanted him to stay closer to home. 3 hour drive from Marietta to Knoxville. Done.
