I feel like the title here should have a big "RUMOR" at the start of it, because this makes it looks like the hire was finalized, and that would be way, way crazier than some sportswriters speculating about it.

Pretty difficult to imagine this becoming a reality. His name comes up for every opening as wishful thinking and to get clicks. Similar to Harbaugh and NFL teams.

I don't think the two are anything a like other than some organizational skills and a few core football beliefs. Haughbaugh=NFL coaching search clicks. Urban=NCAA search clicks. You probably won't see Meyer rumored to the NFL again due to his massive failure.

He played there and there are no auto-win situations set up for him. Texas, LSU, USC, Notre Dame, etc. all have pretty new coaches that are doing okay. Then schools like Clemson and 'Bama are in stable situations with their coaching.
If he wants to get into coaching, he'll have to either hope Ryan Day gets fired after The Game next year or go to a lesser school. If he's going to go to a lesser school, it makes sense to go to the one he attended, is in the middle of a recruiting hotbed (where he has relationships with the all the coaches), and has a proven history of no morals (it doesn't get much dirtier than what UC has done to try and win in basketball). Plus, Fickell got it set up nicely for him to take it to the next level. It worked out last time he took over for Fickell.
It actually makes sense.

Also, with Cincy going to B12, that gets him a ticket to a CFP spot (especially if they go to a 12 team option) in a conference without Texas, Oklahoma, or Texas A&M. Who does he have to beat? Ok St? TCU? Kansas St?

I've always advocated for Cincy to join the Big Ten in order to balance out Ohio State's grossly unfair Big Ten monopoly of their state, while we have to share our inferior recruiting state with annoying as all hell little brother. Perhaps Urb to Cincy can increase that likelihood some day.

Always hated that OSU didn't have an instate rival. But outside of OSU obviously blocking that move, Cincy's academics are way below Big Ten standards. Can't see it ever happening.

Cover 3 pod brought him up when trying to see who fits and would be a good hire for them on Sunday and today but it sounded like nothing more then throwing a name out. They also mentioned Urbz son is on the team so there’s that.
Side note they did mention James Franklins name with all the Auburn/Freeze pushback and said there were some rumors about that.
