Does Alford bring any transfers with him?

Love that we stole Tony Alford from OSU.  Curious if the board thinks he will try to bring along any OSU rb with him.

I think we are set next year with Mullings and Edwards (thunder and lightning), and we have Marshall, Cabana, and Hall waiting on the depth chart. That said, talent is talent, and the opportunity to stregthen your roster and damage your rivals with one move is enticing.

For the board, would we want anyone off the OSU roster rn (assuming Judkins and Henderson are not moving) ?

What everyone else said.  I'd like to keep everyone currently in our RB room.

Mullings/Edwards perfect thunder/lightning comb.  Marshall, future star in Corum mold.  Hall excellent thunder back-up to Mullings.  Cabana/Kaapana future lightning options.  Only RB I'd be interested in would be an already established freshman eligible Edwards-like player.

Here's the only relevant '24 recruit:

While we're on the subject of recruiting, how deep is OSU's NIL well? Look at the top of the '25 list so far:

How do they continue to do this, again? What would it take for them to regress to the point where they're ranked in the second five recruiting classes (something that hasn't happened in many years if you look at the average player ranking)?

...after they keep the one they like the best. Their profile of actually knowing who is the best is not particularly good. They have clearly lost any understanding of the importance of and what comprises the "heart of a champion". This is just another of Day's significant faults.

Otherwise, in looking at the clip of that top RB from Texas what I see, first and foremost, is a lot of very bad tackling-pathetic effort. Sure, he is nicely put together and has good speed but he does not demonstrate the vision of the top backs. Is he coachable...can't tell from a clip???

OSU is going to have a pro-set back field of Will Howard at QB and Treveon Henderson & Quinshon Judkins at left and right halfbacks.  Plus, the defense isn't going to know to whom the ball will be snapped.

Of course, neither will Howard, Henderson, or Judkins.

TBH. I'm more interested in what he can bring in via recruiting than transfer. I think this is more of a sign of how seriously Moore is taking recruiting Ohio. I like our general approach of grabbing transfers to fill holes,  not our depth/roster.

I'm not really sure we need anyone from their RB room right now.

I'd probably feel differently if Edwards had moved on, but he's back. Mullings is your Haskins-esque bruiser who's going to get your tough yards, everyone is talking up Hall big time, Cabana will probably find his way on the field just based on his speed alone, and then Jordan Marshall is hopefully your next Blake Corum. That's not even taking into Kaapana into account, who probably would've been ranked much higher if he didn't play for such a pass-heavy team, but the guy shredded top competition when given the opportunity to do so.

The TL;DR version of what I have to say? I don't think Michigan will be in the market for any of their guys. Not because they're not any good, but because Michigan has more than enough to work with on the roster it currently has.

I don't know that Michigan needs any running backs Alford recruited, but I'd like to see at least some OSU backs jump off the sinking ship. All they have to do is find another team that matches OSU's NIL.

1. do we need any transfers in the RB room?

2. will anyone in the portal look at our RB room and be excited about their opportunities?

I would take Dallan Hayden. Ryan Days use of RBs is awful and when I see Hayden run I think he would be really good at a school who actually uses him.

Even osu fans wonder why he hasn't transferred yet. He might think he'll finally get snaps after next season but OSU will likely seek another transfer back anyways once Judkins and Trey leave.

I manage an account for Evan Pryor's uncle and I joked with him that he should call Evan up and convince him to transfer to Michigan. I truly believe Evan was headed to the NFL if he hadn’t gotten two brutal injuries back to back. Alford is really close to the Pryor family. I think Michigan is set at RB so it wouldn’t happen, but it would be funny because I have tried for years to convince them to get Evan up to Michigan.
