Have you ever been to Columbus? Not being from Michigan or Columbus and only visiting once a year to watch a Blue Jackets game the same weekend I take in a game at the Big House. I actually really like the city. I'm sure like all cities it has areas that aren't all that desirable but the arena district is beautiful. Don't get me wrong, I love Ann Arbor as well and on the whole I think it would be a nicer place to live but people talk about Columbus as if it is some post apocolyptic dump but it really isn't and the OSU campus isn't bad at all.

Nope, its just called beating your Rival silly for 15 years and laughing all the way to regular Play off  appearances.  Rival?  No, we are not that.  Until something changes and we have some pivotal moment to hang our hats on the Buckeyes are our Daddy and we are their Little Brother.  Plain and simple.  Harbaugh was hired to correct this dynamic and thus far he has failed just as spectactularly as the other coaches.  That is the truth...and the truth sucks.  Im gonna go drink some more bourbon and chew on some clonapin.

We're 58-49-6 against OSU.

The Game is still The Game.

Not only is Michigan still OSU's rival, it's still the best rivalry in sports.

If you really are a Michigan fan, stop with the self-loathing.  We all know that the team hasn't had success lately and want that to change.  How about you actually root for the team instead of shitting on them, though?

In most things in my life I am more interested in the truth than delusion.  I root for Michigan.  I watch every game that is televised that I can get in NC.  I hope they win every game.  That is the Truth.

Now here is where Delusion takes root in many fans like yourself, The Game is not "The Game" anymore...at least not for the last 15 years and probably not until another 5 years.  It is in no way shape or form the best rivalry in sports.  That was about 20 years ago.  No one thinks that way outside of the state of Michigan.  Duke vs. UNC bball is a better rivalry.  Auburn vs Alabama is a better rivalry.   Heck, Arsenal vs. Tottenham is a better sports rivalry.

Until results on the field actually change, the game against OSU is just another gauranteed loss like it has been for the last almost 15 years.  Don't crap on me as a Michigan fan because I choose to live in the Truth.  It doesn't make me less of a fan.  Actually, being a fan and actually dealing and acknowledging the truth is what makes a true fan.  I love my wife faults and all and I love my Maize and Blue faults and all.

"The Game is not "The Game" anymore."

Yes it is.  Just as it still was when Michigan was hammering John Cooper.

"It is in no way shape or form the best rivalry in sports.  That was about 20 years ago.  No one thinks that way outside of the state of Michigan."

You're entitled to your opinion.  But pretty much every poll taken on the subject or piece written about it has named Michigan/OSU the best or near the best.  If you'd like I can find a few of them for you, but you could do it yourself just as easily.

"Don't crap on me as a Michigan fan because I choose to live in the Truth.  It doesn't make me less of a fan."

Hey, you have every right to your opinion.  I crap on you because you think that your opinions are facts.  They're not.  They're just opinions.  And it's not as if we have any shortage of doom and gloomers in this fan base.  Frankly, I'm just sick of listening to you people bitch.

You do realize that most of those 59 wins happened before the grandparents of current recruits were born, right?  Today's recruits only know that, in their lifetimes, OSU has crushed Michigan and don't see much of a rivalry.  They see a team that has only one two big ten football championships in this century.  Football history means very little to them.

The staff is not good at recruiting. If we dont get better, we aint beating Ohio State. Maybe Harbaugh shouldnt be sitting courtside with Beilein the week we need to secure some recruits.

"Shouldnt he be out visiting prospects"

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure we are in a quiet/dead period right now. WTF you want him to do? They just hosted a bunch of prospects.

He doesn't get paid millions to lick envelopes. He's got dudes that are doing that. Calm down

Blue Know it, just what is Harbaugh getting paid millions of dollars to do?  I Thought it was bringing in top 10 recruiting classes year after year.  I thought it would be developing a quarterback by year 4, but our QB development and recruiting is so putrid we have to rely on transfers from Iowa and Ole Miss to literally save our prospective seasons.  That isnt hyperbole.  He was hired to turn this program around and beat OSU and MSU on a somewhat regular basis.  He was to bring in stud TE's and RB's to thrive in his power offense.

So since Harbaugh has failed (no other objective conclusion to come to) to do any of these things he was hired to do, what exactly is he getting paid 8+ Million a year to do?  Seriously, if he were not some legendary figure, but a coach who was treated fairly and objectively by his superiors, he would / will be fired next year if things do not change and change drastically.

M could've had 10 wins with decent QB play throughout last season.  Whatever issues there may be this fall, I don't anticipate QB play to be among them.  Speight and O'Korn are gone (right...?) and all three we'll have next year will be better talents, I have no doubt.  M should get 10 wins this season assuming the defense is at least as good as last season, which I think is a safe bet.  The defense will hold as long as the offense can minimize the three-and-outs.

I anticipate a lot of close games, it's a killer schedule so there's no shame if they have to do some "scratching and clawing" to get wins.

I think the concern is that despite the previous two classes, we have also missed on several top targets each year (yes, we've gotten some too but still) and all the while, OSU is cherry picking five stars every year in what are at-worst Top 3 classes.  We seem to be susceptible to these "complexities" while OSU makes a phone call and the kid is on board.

When is the last time OSU had a bad class?  When is the last time OSU failed to win 10 games?  The fact is OSU has been recruiting at a high level and winning at a high level more consistently than any other team in the country for the better part of 30 years.  And, I have a new flash for you...they always will no matter who coaches there.  We aren't going to out-recruit OSU straight up class for class, so if that's your expectation for being satisfied you can let that one go right now or resign to being frustrated.

So should I be worried that Franklin has done more with less than Harbaugh and now he will finally have a top 5 class to take that next big leap? While our top 5 classes....well, not so much..

so why HAVEN’T they recruited well this cycle? Why CAN’T the staff close on elite guys (Ruckert, Friday, NPF, Tyreke) in head-to-head battles with OSU or any of the major programs? It certainly appears like the current staff lost a lot of recruiting capacity with the loss of Fisch and Wheatley. Perhaps Mattison has slowed down. Hopefully Moore and Washington can reignite the push for 2019.

Decades of watching college football and following recruiting?  If Michigan doesn't put together a bounce back season of 10-wins with some wins over their rivals, there's going to be some ugliness swirling the program and opposing coaches will have ample ammo to fire on the recruiting trail.  That type of environment is not a good one for holding on to high-level recruits.
