He could but Michigan doesn…

He could but Michigan doesn't want to look for someone like that because he's not a "Michigan Man".

To be fair to Meyer, he is…

To be fair to Meyer, he is not a scumbag as you say.  He did not have one issue at OSU that was not immediately dealt with.  He has never been accused of any serious NCAA recruiting violations, ever.  Meyer is a recruiting genius and his recruiting department has 46 people in it (i'm told), mostly students and part timers but they are fantastic recruiters.  You find me the bag man and I will agree he is a terrible person but I don't believe there are such things at OSU.  Ryan Day took Meyers recruiting infrastructure and actually improved on it by hiring the best bunch of recruiting assistant coaches that exist in college football.  Michigan could do this but they don't  Why they don't I don't know but you can't just put your hands over your ears and just keep screaming CHEATERS.

Tressel not so much because…

Tressel not so much because he was mostly a regional recruiter not like Alabama.  Meyer I think did under perform.  He did so when he got cocky and thought he could get by with inferior assistants.  When Tom Herman left, Meyer thought he could just promote Warinner from OL coach (where he was terrific) to offensive coordinator (where is a total dud) and added Tim Beck as assistant OC (another under performer).  He did this I think so he could be more in control of the offense.  In 2015, they should have won the NC again based on their talent but they couldn't decide on a QB.  They alternated Cardale Jones and JT Barrett.  These are both good QBs but they have decidedly different skill sets and Meyer tried to fit one system to fit both of them and it didn't work.  They they played Michigan State in Columbus on a very bad weather day and the offense was laughable.  They did nothing but run the QB up the middle.  In a day that didn't favor the forward pass, they ran Zeke Elliot exact 12 times and lost by three points.  From that day, Meyer fell in love with JT Barrett and that is why Joe Burrow won a Heisman for LSU.  He also started to hire friends rather than superior assistant coaches which resulted in a defense that gradually eroded until 2018 when it stunk up the lot.  (There was a reason why Ryan Day didn't keep on defensive coach except Larry Johnson when he took over as head coach).  So, yes, Meyer did under-perform.

The actual history is not…

The actual history is not embarrassing for OSU.  Burrow was in a dead heat in competing for the starting QB job in 2016 (I think) but he broke his hand in spring practice and fell by the wayside due to that injury.  When Day became the OC, Burrow was still in competition for the starting job competing with Duane Haskins.  If he would have picked Burrow, he knew that Haskins would transfer so he picked a guy who he thought he was going to get two years out of.  It was a shock to everyone that Haskins lasted for only one year and went pro.

In summary, Burrow was just star-crossed at OSU and as a result he went to LSU and the rest is history.  He is still one of the most beloved players at OSU.

He actually graduated from…

He actually graduated from OSU.

You cling to that nonsense…

You cling to that nonsense if it makes you able to live.  You pick a great player from Michigan and then compare them to players who got kicked off of the OSU team for bad things.  I believe you got a player kicked off the team for rape not too long ago, however, he wasn't kicked off until his eligibility expired.  Out of 85 athletes, there will be a few bad ones on both teams.

Please stop the excuses.  No…

Please stop the excuses.  No evidence of paying players.  Michigan also gives on line classes.  OSU just recruiting better and, more important, develops those players.

Those would be the scumbags…

Those would be the scumbags who have dusted your butts 16 out of 17 times?  MSU could probably use a scumbag like that.  Not a good guy like Harbaugh who is guilty of hiring either family members or coaches of recruits which is one of the NCAA violations that MSU is being reviewed for.

What exactly was covered up…

What exactly was covered up at Ohio State?

Wow, that must mean that OSU…

Wow, that must mean that OSU pays its players..oh wait, they were just fans with no knowledge of whether or not it was true? But they are fans so it must be true.

What Brand?  If you are a…

What Brand?  If you are a college football historian, then Michigan is a brand for what it did in the first half of the 20th century.  However, most athletes aren't historians.  The kids being recruited right now were born in 2001-2003 and probably became real football fans in 2008-2010.  Since 2001, Michigan has less brand relevance in football than does Wisconsin, Michigan State or Penn State.  After all, in that time, those teams have won outright league championships and all have beaten OSU.  To these kids today, Michigan looks like a completely mediocre team.

You obviously don't know…

You obviously don't know what the "Tressel" cheating was about.  Several players were getting an impermissible benefit in that they sold team stuff for tattoos.  They were punished by getting four - six game suspensions.  Tressel covered this up and lied to the NCAA and his bosses about when he knew it was happening and played these players in games even though he knew they would be suspended if they benefit came out.  The four game suspension is a standard for this penalty, HOWEVER, since Tressel lied and covered up, the penalty for him was his losing his job and getting a five year show cause.  For playing ineligible players, every victory in 2010 was vacated and OSU received a one year bowl ban in 2012 (which probably would have resulted in a National Championship as we would have been rated in the top 2 in the BCS.

So the summarize, Tressel was fired (costing him about $15M on the rest of his contract and OSU vacated 11 wins, a Sugar Bowl crown and the opportunity to play for a National Championship.  I think those penalties pretty much fit the crime.

Pretty whiny response.

Pretty whiny response.

University of Michigan…

University of Michigan offers on-line DEGREES and courses.  Look at their catalog.  Stop being so GD sanctimonious when you don't know what you are talking about.

Particularly good in trying…

Particularly good in trying to remove Dobbins' shoe.  Note, next time don't do it with the ref standing over you watching.

"The University of Michigan…

"The University of Michigan makes a difference in our State, Nation, and the world. I enjoy the diverse Division 1 athletic program too."

With respect, the same can be said of all of the teams of the Big Ten.  Michigan is not alone.

This is the standard…

This is the standard Michigan response to THE GAME results.  Fact is, there is only one JUCO transfer on the OSU team and he is not on the two deep chart.  Secondly, OSU's academic acceptance requirements for athletes are well above the NCAA minimums and they have had to stop recruiting many talented players because admissions wouldn't support their continued recruitment.  Third, if UM offered Urban Meyer the coaching job, he would throw up in his mouth and would not take it.

Patterson wouldn't have…

Patterson wouldn't have transferred if he had been the starter either.

You do realize that 79% of…

You do realize that 79% of all waiver requests made in 2018 were approved.  This includes two Buckeyes who transferred to NC State and Duke.  There is no massive conspiracy against Michigan.  The odds appear to be in favor of waiver requests being approved by everyone.

Such as Kyle Murray and…

Such as Kyle Murray and Baker Mayfield?

You forgot "7-0 against…

You forgot "7-0 against Michigan".

Better than having him…

Better than having him coaching as he has never lost to UM.

No we deserve it because we…

No we deserve it because we beat you, the number four team in the country and hung 62 points on the #1 defense.

Everybody, including my…

Everybody, including my school OSU, wants their participation trophies now.

The problem to this is that…

The problem to this is that Harbaugh is not recruiting spread players but is recruiting players for his system.

I have to admit that, as an…

I have to admit that, as an OSU fan, I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of imagination in the offense.  If your coaches had watched any film of the Purdue or Maryland games they should have noticed that those teams used motion and alignments to cause mismatches and and misdirection which OSU defense would bite on again and again.  I really thought that those two games in particular gave a pretty good road map on how to beat the OSU defense.  Granted the linebackers played back much more than normal (they are usually on the line during the cadence) but I was surprised at the lack of motion used by Michigan.

Rivalry?

You do realize that most of those 59 wins happened before the grandparents of current recruits were born, right?  Today's recruits only know that, in their lifetimes, OSU has crushed Michigan and don't see much of a rivalry.  They see a team that has only one two big ten football championships in this century.  Football history means very little to them.

For What It's Worth

This from one of the Bucknuts recruiting guys:

Superdevil: Do recruits ever talk to you about their interactions with Jim Harbaugh? Gives off a pretty strong 'weird dude' vibe and now that the honeymoon buzz is over his message doesn't seem to be resonating with many prospects.

Alex Gleitman: The only conversations I’ve ever had with recruits when they mention Jim Harbaugh have been positive. I do think he is a bit “different”, if you will, but I haven’t heard anything negative about him from prospects.

c'mon

The things you list for Michigan can be provided by amost any B1G school.

SMU

Actually SMU was caught three separate times during that time and because they were caught the third time they got the death penalty.

Cheating?

So when Michigan brought in those good classes in 2016 and 2017, were they cheating?

True But

If you look closer to his stats, you will see that he had much better performances against weak out of conference opponents and not nearly as many good performances against SEC opponents.  I think he looked to transfer because the tea leaves were saying that he was not going to get his starting job back at Ole Miss.

Shea?

I don't know why everyone is so excited by Shea Patterson.  His career at Mississippi was very mediocre and he ended up getting injured and his replacement played much better than he did.

Negative Recruiting

According to the OSU site, some teams were negatively recruiting OSU sayting the Larry Johnson and Urban Meyer would be retiring soon and wouldn't be there through their four years.

$2M

Yeah, he might get a $2M raise which would still put him below Harbaugh.

Not Quite Right

Actually Meyer is under contract through 2020.  The extension in question is a two year extension through 2022.  The big part of the announcement is that for the first time ever, OSU will have some assistant coaches making $1M+.

Apparently Michigan Men can't

Apparently Michigan Men can't play football very well.

History

UM has the richest college football history if you go back to 1900, but today's recruits don't care about that.  In this century and for the current recruits' lives, UM is decidedly a mediocre program.  The last time, UM was relevant on the national stage was 2006 when the current recruits were 6 or 7 years old.

Not Happening

The OSU site is now reporting that Day turned down the job with Tennessee and is staying in Columbus.
