I’ll admit, those games had me thinking that perhaps my expectations were too low coming into the season. At the end of the day, the team started the year ranked somewhere around 20th if I remember right. I think it’s fair to say we exceeded expectations all around by beating some really good teams by wide margins and made it to the Sweet Sixteen. Just a disappointing way to end the season.
What sucks most is knowing that we have to wait until September for football to start. That’s a long time without televised Michigan athletics.
If it’s anything like targeting reviews, or spot reviews, or...well, any review in college football/basketball, I can see it being more of a headache than it’s worth.
I think Purdue can make some noise the rest of this tournament.
I think depending on which Edwards shows up, they can handle Virginia. They showed that they can score some points in a hurry tonight against TN. My bracket is already busted with Michigan’s loss tonight, so I’ll probably find myself cheering on Purdue the rest of the tournament.
Iggy showed several times this season the capability of just going off and scoring a bunch of points.
I think Coach B will find a way to get these guys the ball in more favorable scoring situations next season. He has all off season to examine some of the issues that were present for this season and adjust.
I think the Big 10 better get used to seeing Iggy flex.
They made it a really fun late fall/winter. I remember the excitement of watching the team just obliterate Villanova on their own court and a really good UNC team at our own Crisler.
I think the last quarter of the season was a real rough patch, but I think it’ll just light a fire under the guys this off season to improve.
Simpson has already proved he could fix his free throw shooting struggles in one off season; im almost certain he’ll work on his jump shot this off season. This team can and should get better, and will likely return most (if not all) of its 2018-19 production (30 wins).
On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind seeing Purdue continue to light it up and make a real run at it. It was a fun game to watch tonight against Tennessee.
I think they have a legit shot at beating Virginia.
Meanwhile, MSU has a tough matchup against a very strong LSU team tomorrow night, and if they make it past them, they’ll likely face Duke. Izzo’s record against Coach K is common knowledge at this point.
The bad: We set an NCAA record for lowest number of points in a half during the Sweet Sixteen (16).
Tied an NCAA record for lowest number of points in a game by a 2 seed (44).
TTUs defense was good, but it wasn’t world record poor performance good.
The Good: We return a lot next year, if some young guys step up, this game could be the fuel for the 2019-2020 team.
Guys have shown that they can develop in the off season. Simpson made a tremendous jump in his free throw percentage this year compared to last year. I’d almost guarantee that this kid will go out and work on some of the offensive struggles this off season.
Iggy, Livers, and even Poole have showed some real flashes of brilliance on the offensive end at times this season. One more year of development could make a serious difference. Beilein has all off season to examine where the team struggled this year and try to remedy the issue.
This team won 30 games this year after losing a ton of production from the National runner-up team last year. No reason to not to expect next season to be just as fun, if not better.
Cant wait to see what UM footballs offense looks like this spring game.
Remember last year when Z couldn’t hit a free throw to save his life? He had to try all those different free throw routines, including dribbling off to his side before making the shot.
Young man made a serious effort to improve that part of his game and it’s so great that it’s paying off for him.

Nebraska has the talent to be more competitive than they were this season. Will be interesting to see how they are moving forward.
