Below is what I compiled looking at the rosters at pro-football-reference.com. Not sure if all of these players were actually on the roster when the Super Bowl was played, however. Based on this, Michigan had players on rosters for 50 of the 56 Super Bowls, and a least one Super Bowl champion for 39 of the Super Bowls (with one yet to be determined).

It's interesting that starting around 2002 the lists seem to grow longer. I realize some of that is random, and the result of the frequent appearances of Tom Brady, but to me it also suggests that beginning with Moeller and continuing with Carr we started at a higher (or at least more NFL friendly) level.

My other thought is that if you look at the first 8-10 years you see as many Bump guys and Bo guys. Bump may not have been an elite coach (or may just have been unlucky to face to Woody at his peak) but he could recruit.

People ask why Bo always lost all of those Rose Bowls.  This list is one of the big reasons why.  The NFL was not exactly overflowing with Michigan players.  Michigan did not produce (nor recruit) a lot of NFL-level guys.  Michigan was always fundamentally sound, but it was not at the talent level of teams like USC, especially at the skill positions.

I don't follow the NFL closely (other than occasionally checking in on the Lions) so had forgotten that he was still in the league. And I'm not disagreeing with you for reminding us of his act of domestic violence, which I know in the past was something that wasn't taken as seriously by the legal system or society as it needs to be (and probably still isn't in many places). That said -- and having no idea what kind of life Clark has lived since he left Ann Arbor -- I think that someone shouldn't necessarily be defined by their worst actions as a 20 year old. If that's sounds like I'm diminishing what he did that's not my intent.

The refs fucked over the Bengals.  A perfect example was the bogus intentional grounding flag on Burrows in the crucial Bengal drive.  He had a RB crossing in the vicinity of where the ball was thrown and was being roughed up when he threw it.  On KC's next drive, Mahomes did almost exactly the same thing, except the 'receiver' was even further away and there was no flag.

That is the play you use an example? That was clear grounding by Burrow. His receivers had released downfield and he threw it at his lineman's feet behind the line of scrimmage. Mahomes threw it to no-one but it was at least towards an eligible receiver.

Of all the bad calls this one isn't on the list.

I’m gonna call BS on this particular example. The ball Burrows threw was behind an O-lineman, and the nearest eligible receiver was 5-7 yards downfield past said lineman.  Cincinnati also converted the 3rd down on the next play anyway.  That call didn’t affect the outcome of that drive in any meaningful way.  The ball Mahomes threw, was about 2 yards short of his eligible receiver AND he was hit when he threw it.

I didn’t watch all of the game, but to complain about these two plays to say either were a difference maker in the way the game ended is a stretch.

There are some refs who are bad.  There are some refs who look dumb and/or confused when they're out there making calls.  And there are some who are both.  Ron Torbert is both.  And I'm not a fan of either team, nor do I have a NFL team I root for.  I just know every time I see him, I see dumb face.  O'Neill had this look too and there's a guy who does SEC games who is perpetually confused when making a call.

There's probably some of that, but I think it's mostly that in any given year, he's probably the 30-40th best QB on the planet.  Having a floor in backup QBs of "borderline starter" is very valuable, as the 49ers demonstrated all year (and reinforced the point when their 4th stringer went down as well).

Really impressive Henne and Graham are still in the league. Henne's got one of the best jobs in sports which is 'solid backup QB that never has to play because he's behind a great starting QB'. And Graham is still going strong at 34. Not easy to do at a position that requires athleticism. Gotta think he's close to retiring now
